I think whole Dalek episodes were. But by the look of the trailer, it was half destroyed. Obviously not an army or anything like that. Not exactly the focus of the episode!
Way I see it, wishful trailer editing. I think in context it'll serve to prove the power and significance of the Silence; i.e. they keep broken Daleks as trophies or something.

...but then again i may have been spoilt by watching 'Tomb of the Cybermen' earlier today (which is awesome classic Dr. Who)

Overall not a bad episode but i just want more from the show.
Tomb of the Cybermen is quite possibly one of my favourite Who serials, good call sir! I was surprised how well it held up considering how old it is. Then again, Patrick Troughton is my second favourite Doctor so that helps.

The problem with the modern Cybermen is that the writers don't seem to know how to use them effectively. They are meant to be cold and logical automatons and a worthy adversary for the Doctor but the new series only ever seems to depict them as a minor irritation. They should be at their most threatening when they are cornered and damaged. The new "Cybus Industries" Cybermen seemed to more or less wipe from everyone's minds that the Cybermen were actually a race of organic humanoids once upon a time. What happened to them was their own doing, a process that was created by their own instinct of self preservation that eventually cost them their humanity. To me, that's the scariest part about them.
I thought that the Cybus-men in Army of Ghosts and Doomsday were the best portrayal of them in the current reboot. But the Cybermen in general were much better in the older series.

My thought... why didn't craig die and not have to have the cybermen die in such a silly way!

Paradoxically, I agree with you on that one. However they were only ever intended as an "alternate" version of the Cybermen, sort of a reboot in themselves. However, new audiences have not been given the chance to see their true origins nor, as you quite rightly stated, have they been given a worthy Cybermen story since the second series.

Yeah, it's always "disbable their emotional inhibitors!" isn't it?

I thought it was a really good episode, although I agree that the cybermen barely did anything. The ending was good; Steven Moffat said on confidential that it wasn't supposed to be a twist, just confirming what we already knew. James Corden was brilliant. I wish he could be a full-time companion. Also, did anyone else know that Charles Dickens has a cameo (played by the same person as in The Unquiet Dead) next week?

Captcha, are you trying to suggest something? wouldHi excite

Oh and here is the prequel video for next weeks episode, titled "The Wedding of River Song"

Interesting. The incredibly creepy singing kids seem to suggest that the silence have had an impact on the doctor's past. Which presumably he hasn't remembered.

Although I'm intrigued to see humans working with them - wasn't humanity meant to be mentally conditioned as a race to kill them all on sight?

Maybe, they never saw the footage of the first man on the moon?

I thought it was a good episode with good humour and chacterisation, however the part with the cyber men did feel somewhat rushed and the fact that they were destroyed by love seemed a bit cliched, but other than that it was good, also Stormaggedon was cool. I wasnt expecting much from this episode after the last James Corden episode which was awful but was pleasantly surprised and I liked the way that the made time cyclical so that it would show the events before episode 1 of this series.

Next weeks episode looks great though, probably the only episode in the series im actually looking forward to.

Was a good episode, loved it...

The bit at the end with river does actually clear something up, up until this point it was sort of assumed that river killed the doctor when she was a kid, but going by this, apparently not :) which also clears up the conceived continuity error with the lets kill hitler episode, where she tries to kill him when we believe she already did so.

Also I got up and went to my computer when I thought it was ending, turns out that there was still 5 minutes left due to the bit with river, which was just tacked on the end.

I wanted to make this thread!

OT: I enjoyed it and yes stormageddon is cool.
Stormageddon for president!

It'll be very interesting if they actually do end it with him dying in Utah.

I also loved the Second Doctor reference (he's Matt Smith's favorite) "I see you've redecorated. I don't like it."

This episode made me realise that it's not Smith I don't like as the Doctor, it's the shit writing I don't like.

I actually found him quite amusing in this one and looking back i've had quite a few giggles.

I just can't seem to like some of the episodes.

As someone said above, this was just a filler. It was just something to 'drag it out' and tack on a bit with River at the end to explain one part that a lot of us had figured out long before.

I think Moffat just tried to make it 'too big' by having so many twists and turns and plot lines going on it lost what made Doctor Who fun in the first place. It was family entertainment not plotline rocket science.

The other big issue with trying to have so much going on is episodes like this, which really are great and back to good family entertainment, just fall flat due to people wanting to get to the end and hopefully see where this has been heading all this time.

We all know The Doctor is destined to die. But we also know they won't kill off ye olde Doctor due to the massive uproar that would ensue. Moffat would be lynched killing off a TV legend in the space of 2 series of him lead writing. So it begs the question ..... how the hell is he going to pull off a decent ending without it looking cheap and cheesy as fuck.

I enjoyed this episode rather a lot.
The way if wrapped things up rather neatly, with the Doctor getting his hat, and the blue envelopes.
I guess the ending was a tad rushed as a few people have said, but over all a good episode.

Not too sure about this series finale considering its gonna be the shortest one ever and theres just so much to answer...
Oh and not keen on episode 12, seemed to me like almost all of it took place in the last 10 minutes with what must be a trademarked anti climax ending...
But at least they explained where these cybermen came from and not "ooooo look cybermen, yaaay".

I quite liked it but I have a natural aversion to James Cordon. Cybermen were as cool as they could be but still sort of filler villain style. Very much liked the bit at the end showing River will kill the Doctor(which is most probably how she ends up in the Storm Cage.

I'm looking forward to the next episode though.
I saw Daleks, Winston Churchill and a Pterodactyl. It looks awesome.

It was an average episode but one thing bugged me...

HOW DID KAREN GILLAN AND ARTHUR DARVILL GET IN THE OPENING CREDITS AND 2ND TO TOP BILLING IN THE CREDITS?

The producers probably couldn't be arsed removing them

I'm sure I read somewhere that they have to include the daleks at least once per series otherwise they will lose the rights to them completely. Not that they're necessary- the scariest monster in time and space should not be able to be neutralised by placing your hat over it's eye stalk.

Also, the best part of the entire series for me was the doctors plan at the end of episode 2- essentially making the silence order their own execution.
I can only hope next week is as good.

Also, perhaps the eyepatches were meant to achieve something or other, although I'm not entirely sure what right now. If I was in charge I would make sure the troops all had some contact lens with a bit of the silence in it, thus meaning they can always see them, and will always remember- although the trailer shows us the eyepatches don't really achieve anything.

I really liked this episode, it was a break from all those depressing episodes until now.

And about how the Doctor survives, I think we will see the Flesh doctor again for one last time.
