'Can you ride a motorbike?'

'I expect so, it's that sort of day.'

Rory gets the best lines. Loved it!

To be honest, I think I'm with Yahtzee regarding a few of the newer episodes, HOWEVER, that was phenomenal. Finally, Hitler in Dr Who!
It's the 4th episode Hitler has been in IIRC. He also gets mentioned an awful lot. More so in the older series'.

I know regeneration limits were enforced by Time Lords, so technically he can just go on, but I like how they can explain a prolonged stint of Doctor Who by having those handy "extra ten regenerations".

What I didn't like was the bumrushing of removing River's Timelordy abilities. Seeing her in different "lives" on their travels could have been interesting, I guess. Loved the "Tingling sensation" gag.

And REALLY loved the "Give me someone I like" - poof, Rose Tyler!

But on the whole I felt it was a bit average. Especially following on from Demons' Run.
I was thinking it was a poor choice of words in her giving up her "remaining regenerations". Should have said something like "her ability to regenerate" if they wanted to keep things in sync with canon spin-offs...

[HEADING=1]Oh wait! This is Steven Moffat we're talking about![/HEADING]

Jesus that really sucked.

That is all.
Care to elaborate?
Well for one once again it's the Amy and Rory show. They have no charisma together not even a spark of attraction between them. They take up so much screen time it's obnoxious, it's called Doctor Who not Amy and Rory and that wacky alien they hang around with. I thought Rose was hated by the fandom for taking up too much of the first few series (I know it was mostly the romance but still) and she was far less annoying than these two.

Poorly done retcons, hey lets shove someone we've never met before in to the story. Where was she during the episodes set in Amy's village? She must have been around in that tiny village if they want us to believe she was always there. And why try to make us care about her death when we don't know her? Oh and she would have been locked up if she had stolen a bus and caused massive property damage. Oh who cares the writers didn't.

Alex Kingston did an embarasing job with her regeneration, is it canon now that everyone has to act quirky? And was she brainwashed to be a psychopath? Or was she trained to kill the Doctor and the psychosis was already there?

The miniture people had the most inefficient robots in the history of Sci-Fi, what do they kill people by slowly wrapping themselves around people's necks and tazoring them? Why have the miniture people, do we really need another secret organsation who will be poorly explained away at a later time? Why do they travel around in a robot ripped out of that Eddie Murphy film?

The Doctor took longer to die than Trinity from the Matrix, I know we all knew he would survive but his performance took away any pathos that his 'death' could have had.

How can Rory knock people out with one punch, his arms are so thin.

Where's poochie? I mean where was Hitler? What a misleading title this episode had.

This isn't Doctor Who anymore, this is a confusing mess.

As an old-school fan I loved the throwaway reference to 'temporal grace'.

Other than that it was a fairly pedestrian episode - not awful, but not great either.

Melody was the kid in the spacesuit, if you haven't figured that out you are a little slow.

So yeah, she already killed the doctor.

Pretty good ep, I laughed and was shocked quite a bit, next episode seems kinda generic but w/e not too fussed.

Direct quote from a Matt Smith interview;

"It's good that we have TV that challenges people and doesn't just spoon feed it's audience! I'm so tired of shows that patronise viewers."

So your complaining that the show is confusing, fair enough. I like that it's confusing and makes you think about each episode plot rather than just having it bold facedly explained to you.

While that is indeed implied, it's never actually told. Also, if Melody killed the Doctor in a previous regeneration as a child, why would she be brainwashed to kill him later in her life but before the Doctor was due to die. That would imply that the Silence knew she would fail at this point in Melody's time stream now, and retro-fixed it so that she killed him in an earlier time. If she had killed the Doctor then there was no need for her to kill him now.

Tbh, I found it a bit too nonsensical and had too much stuff being added every few seconds. If you're gonna call an episode "lets kill Hitler" then you must have at least some of the kill Hitler parts.

Good ideas terrible execution- felt overly rushed (as seems to be the norm) and the sudden switch from "Hitler and time travel" to "The Redemption of River Song" was badly jarring, it wasnt Doctor & the Pirates weak but wasnt far off, hope it was just the director dropping the ball on this one.
Im still loving Rory's progression into a badass action hero but the River Song character is beginning to veer into Mary Sue/The Scrappy territory (for me at least).

[sub] Oh and two Karen Gillans? Ill be in my bunk...[/sub]

Well the episdoe had some fun parts and had some great lines (loving the tophat and sonic dress cane). However the line (I think this was it) you've got a time machine and I've got a gun so let's go kill hitler" (was that right?) just felt bit wedged in, you know as a way of saying the title (I mostly dislike people saying the title of films episodes etc...).

Also I expecting some serious continuity feth ups due to sheer amount of stuff plot wise going every where but in a straight line. I lost trust in their ability to keep track of simple continuity after that pirate vanished mid episode.

On one hand all the acting was great, better than usual (not as good as Doctor's Wife though) and River was brilliant but everything else kinda sucked

It's not confusing, it's jumbled. And that's not my only complaint as you can see above.

I have no problem with stuff that makes you think, I like that as well. But that's all Doctor Who has become episodes of talking about purposely misleading stuff leading to an endgame and a twist. It's not clever, they're not twists if there's no foreshadowing that's a retcon.

I agree with all you said here and above. I love Doctor Who but what was that? I actually liked Riversong and now they've ruined her too. I wish the Doctor had just taken little Amelia Pond on some adventures and left kissogram Amy firmly at home. The sad thing is I think Matt Smith is excellent or could be excellent if he had anything good to work with.

So what your saying is they're not giving enough foreshadowing? Tonights episode Id kinda agree with you, but everything upto this point the hints have been there just subtle.

Next episode: Set in the modern day. Whilst Torchwood: Miracle Day is still running. Will they mention the whole 'everyone's immortal' thing, d'you reckon?
I'm hoping that Miracle Day is completely ignored by everything, ever.

I tend to prefer episodes that are less involved with the over-arching plot, because the over-arching plots are usually convoluted messes. This wasn't that bad, it was quite funny. At least Rory is no longer being made shitty any more.

I thought Hitler would be in it a bit more as well to be honest.
The episode was awesome, although I hated Melody as Amy's best friend although I see why they put her in the show. To me, it seemed, 'we haven't had a black person in this for a while... lets give her a gun and say she's a thief and troublemaker! Good going!'
It made my brain hurt too but it's expected from Moffat, he's like a good M Night Shmallamadingdong.

Loved the episode. Brilliant er, restart to the series. I can't wait until next week, though I doubt they will mention Miracle Day. Oh, and Rory's a badass like Neville in Harry Potter 7 part 2.

This feels like that dalek episode, just another excuse to setup backstory. I had hoped something more high brow, (along the lines of the pompei episode turned on it's head slightly, the doctor trying to save hitler to prevent the timey wimey stuff going splat) before the river reveal stuff. "Mel" felt definatly retconned. but with a bit of luck this is the low point of the series.
