Oh wow, what a fantastic episode. I was actually hoping that there would be more Hitler in the episode but hey-ho. So much stuff and explanations linked together! Explanations on the blue diary, why the Doctor never realised River was a Time Lord earlier (using her regeneration energy). Regenerations can cause you to become a child. Trying to kill a Time Lord who is regenerating is a bad idea.
And why can't the Doctor answer a straight question? It's really annoying!

I was actually hoping they would drag out the finding of Melody a bit more rather than wrap it up in one episode. However, Melody trying to kill the Doctor because of the Silence was a neat twist.

But at least Rory was suitably badass still by punching Hitler and putting him in a cupboard! That's always a plus!

Oh, and I want a Sonic Cane!

That thing that just happened? THAT WAS AWESOME!
TV people? That is how you open a series. DO THAT.
Opened up tonnes of new questions as well as answering several at the same time, plenty of Comedy and Drama.
Also, new favourite line:
"You will feel a slight tingling sensation and then you will die."

Next episode: Set in the modern day. Whilst Torchwood: Miracle Day is still running. Will they mention the whole 'everyone's immortal' thing, d'you reckon?

But yeah, good episode, involving the usual vagaries surrounding regeneration and all that. Took me longer than I would have liked to get the 'Mel' thing though...

I do miss the days when it was Dr. Who, though, and not 'When in the universe is River Song?'

I doubt it, Miracle Day could still be set before or after Night Terrors (the name of the next episode) and still be "present day"

Just speaking entirely from personal opinion that was the worst episode in a long time. Which was a shame really. While there were some explanations there wasn't actually any real plot to most of the episode.

Great. Loved it. Brilliant.

Such a fun episode that turned out to deliver some much needed answers!

I loved the robot jellyfish things!

It was ok, it wasn't the best episode I've ever seen but it was still ok.
Is it me or is there am I noticing a trend in Dr. Who episodes starting with a huge leap forward (which naturally just becomes confusing) and then we end up getting a flashback (or several) to try and explain everything? (And also giant messages written in things)

Also, while I know nothing about how the Nazi's acted in the 1930's, shouldn't the Nazi's have been a bit more trigger-happy? Like the guy in the opening when he gets followed by the robot version of The Spy filled with midgets and Hanarr robots programmed by GLaDOS. Why did he just stand gawking and not sound an alarm?

"go on Hitler, get in the closet"

I thought the episode was great, and I really didn't expect a lot of the twists. The thing is, Melody was recorded as being the person that murdered the doctor at a different time in history (according to the timey wimey police guys) so that means that either they've re written history (which would create a paradox, because future doctor invited himself to that little party where past doctor got killed, and thus future doctor couldn't exist to send the invitation if the doctor's death was something that was written out of history) or it means that the event of the doctors murder is still going to happen, in such a way that he cannot regenerate.

The episode in which the doctor manages to get out of that one is going to be confusing.

To be honest, I think I'm with Yahtzee regarding a few of the newer episodes, HOWEVER, that was phenomenal. Finally, Hitler in Dr Who!

1) Melody Pond was a child when she reincarnated in New York. This was in the episodes with the Silence, after she got out of the astronaut's suit. So, she didn't regenerate into a child, she regenerated as a child

2) People've tried, remember David Tennant in that Christmas episode when his hand got chopped off? He grew a new one. That one was a fightin' hand.

I miss the days when Doctor Who was about the Doctor and his companion adventuring, seeing the future and the past and having fun. I honestly have no idea what's happening with all this River Song and Silence stuff, I guess I need to catch up and watch the episodes I missed.

I'm sure some suitably placed deus ex machina will sort things out. I was interested by the time police's note that the Doctor's death is a fixed point in time and must happen. A feature the Doctor always pulls out for why he can change the past and future, so I'm interested in how they will get around it. Short of destroying the universe.

Again.

"Time Wars are such a horrible, messy abuse of time travel" is the thought I generally have with most episodes of this current series. It really bugs me how old Doctors were all about 'observe, but touch nothing' to keep the timeline clean, whilst the current Doctor runs about flailing his arms and dicking the timeline about: I'm wondering if he joined the Federation.

Yea but Mel said as she was regenerating that last time she regenerated, she became a toddler. Implying that she was older and regenerated into a toddler.

We always knew that regeneration energy could heal. But never that it made the Time Lord in question invulnerable.

I know regeneration limits were enforced by Time Lords, so technically he can just go on, but I like how they can explain a prolonged stint of Doctor Who by having those handy "extra ten regenerations".

What I didn't like was the bumrushing of removing River's Timelordy abilities. Seeing her in different "lives" on their travels could have been interesting, I guess. Loved the "Tingling sensation" gag.

And REALLY loved the "Give me someone I like" - poof, Rose Tyler!

But on the whole I felt it was a bit average. Especially following on from Demons' Run.

Again.
And also this. I foresee this series ending on a big bang. Or the Doctor STILL dying and Season Seven being utterly mental in the attempts to break the entire universe to fix him.
