Personally I find myself throwing the things behind the tv (only to frantically search for them when trade-in time rolls around). What about you guys?

I do, because sometimes they have some interesting pictures or descriptions in them.

But that's the only reason. Most modern games have far more effective in game tutorials.

Hell yes I do. I'm leafing through Borderlands one as I type this.
Also, does any one else like the smell of a new game manual?

yah, but only when the bus is late on the way back of getting the game these days.

I used to read them a lot, particularly big heavy RPG manuals :p

I always read the game manuals before I play a new game. They give you a brief intro on what the game's story is about.

Plus the new game manual smell, ahhhh.

I used to, back when I was not but a shitling. Now I look in for the story synopsis and character descriptions, then put it back in the case.

I don't need a manual to tell me which stick is used to move. I think I can guess.

Good. Glad I'm not the only person who does this.
I felt a bit weird doing that.

God yes, I rifle through it and sniff. It's my crack.

And yup, I read the manual. I like the little overviews and character descriptions.

I don't read them. I just have them. I don't throw them away, but I keep them. I guess I'm a pack rat or something, because I hate selling things and throwing them away. It just bothers me to open a game case and then see just the disk without the manual.

I will usually flip through the manual, especially if it is a strategy game, if nothing else so I can see what units there are.

As of late, I don't quite do it as much, being that many games compensate for it with a tutorial level, but I do look through them eventually.

I read through them. Usually I'll read through the whole thing before I'll play the game, which has often led me to believe that the game is much harder than it really is. (stupid manuals that make things sound too complicated.)
