I play a good number of emu'd NES, SNES, Genesis, 2600, and NeoGeo games on my PC, if that counts. And my Dreamcast is still hooked up for those times when I feel like pulling out Soul Calibur.

I play my Genesis at least Twice a week, how I do love playing Jungle Strike and the Sonic Series. I occasionally go back and play some of my old GB games as well like Kirby's Dream Land and Pokemon Red. My PS2 died so I'm rather pissed at that since all this talk of PS2 games makes me really want to play...

I've probably spent more time using the virtual console on my wii than playing actual wii games, if that counts for anything.

I'm still trying to figure out though, if it's really that the games I played were that awesome, or if it's just the memories that resurface when I replay them.

I mean, I could play Super Mario Bros 3 over and over again. But is it because it was truly that amazing that I can still have fun with it 10 years later?

I game alone these days for the most part, but I wonder if I would play it all if it wasn't for all the time I spent arguing with my sisters over who got the next mushroom house, or laughing with my dad over how I kicked his ass in some hockey game on the Sega Genesis (after he took out his goalie, of course).

I think part of the reason I play so much now is that it fills the void and reminds me of better times, like when my parents were happily married, or when my step sister lived closer, or when my friends weren't so busy drinking and chasing after guys who didn't want them.

....Or maybe the reason I play is because I lost all my friends due to my inability to stay on topic and now I have nothing better to do.
Sorry guys.

OT: My old consoles still hold a place in my heart. Snes and N64 specifically.

Abso-fuckin'-lutely. I still play my Genesis, Atari 2600, Saturn and Game Boy Advance. I am actively collecting games and hardware for all three machines until I can buy a PS3. I collect stuff and want to have a huge collection of consoles. I will play the Sega CD, Dreamcast, Colecovision, TurboGrafx-16, Neo Geo, Famicom and Famicom Disk System as soon as I get them too!

I still play A Link to the Past (which, imo, is the best game ever made) on my SNES.

I got a SNES for Christmas. I have:

PGA Tour Golf and Pilotwings (crap :|)

Street Fighter 2 and Super Soccer (I like them, but I am too rubbish at them)

Super Mario Kart, Super Mario All Stars and Starwing (Best. Games. EVER.)

I fire up my Gamecube if I find the time, sadly I don't with all these new games. But Super Smash Bros Melee is just plain awesome, and the only fighter I was ever good at, so I like to play that from time to time.

You need Super Metroid. Trust me on this.

Not many people have answered the secondary question.

Does anyone think Gameplay has declined in the age of online multiplayer?

I currently have my Gamecube jacked into my 42" plasma, playing Metroid Prime and LOZ: Wind Waker.

I also have an Amiga 1000 around here somewhere that I plan on picking up someday, along with a NES, a Sega Mega Drive and a N64 with broken controllers.

Ah, retro.

As for the second question, I'm not really sure what to think. We've had some excellent games from the past, and some excellent games from the present.
I think most people think that games are getting worse because games are going for another direction these days. We grew up with funny, colorful platformers, and nowadays it's more about realism and shooting people in the face in the most fashionable way possible.

PS2 is timeless, but hardly old...

my N64 barely works so I don't play it.

I have an original Playstation, a GameBoy origianl and a GameBoy pocket.

I still play Metal Gear Solid and GTA 2 on my Playstaion (and sometimes the first RainbowSix game too).
I still play Tetris, Metroid, LoZ: Links Awakening and other games on my GameBoys.

I also feel that some older games were better than some newer ones. However, that being said, I do feel some modern games surpass their predecessors.
FPS games are better now, as are some RTS games. I think older games were better at story and such, but modern games are better a things like physics engines and such. Basically back in the day game companies had to make games good ascetically but now they really on technical greatness like ultra great graphics.
