I thought MW2 did it just right. If you shoot a guy, blood splatter and pool on the ground after he falls over. No heads flying off or limbs being removed. Although excessive gore does have its places, I prefer it to be otherwise.

Blood and Gore-Should be a MUST in war games. People dont die in a ketchup explosion (ie MW2)
WaW delivered it pretty well on

I... guess it does? I don't actively look for gore in games but I am not going to play an action game where I rip someone open with a chainsaw and nothing happens except him dying. That's just lame.

It all depends on the game genre... I'd be disappointed if a horror game didn't have blood in it, but it would not be necessary if it were say... Mario Party 8 or something.

I think probably the most realistic game in existence would be a combination of Dead Space's Dead System, combined with Red Faction Guerilla's Geomod 2.0 and 1.0, and the beautiful Crytek engine. The world would be hyper realistic.

Well, I do like atleast semi-realistic eviscerating.
Or the fire axe on l4d2..
But some games fuck it up totally. Cant think of any right now but.

Some games do it perfectly, I cant think of any but still...
Some games do it ok-ish, such as Dragon Age: Origins. The blood splatter was a good idea, but it just doesnt look good..

That world would be hyper-laggy.

Depends on the Game. Like, one of my favourite games ever in the history of the universe is Little Big Adventure, which is so cutesy and colourful it's almost sickening. But it's an amazing game.

But then if I'm playing something like Soldier of Fortune, Left 4 Dead or something. It's got to be as violent as possible.

I think it's entirely a matter of whether it fits or not.

No, but it makes games like Dragon Age: Origins even more awesome.

It's like, holy shit, my melee fighters are fucking covered in blood and I just decapitated this guy.

Really? It looks more like they got into a food fight at school and are covered in ketchup.

Doesn't really matter to me as long as there is blood in situations where there should be blood.

I like having gore in my games because it gives me a sense of satisfaction when I kill an enemy and have his body fly one way, and his head in eight others. It makes me feel like I should plant a flag on their corpse.

all depends on the game....

But most of the time, no not really. In shooters it really doesnt matter at all, and seems like if theres a lot of it... it just seems pointless

Yea, if I'm going to kill someone, I want to KNOW they are dead.
same here, if its not over done ok. but i want SOMETHING, otherwise it feels unrealistic.
but in l4d2 it is TOTALLY over done but it feels so right.
To me, it doesn't feel overdone at all; in fact, it's pretty dam perfect.

I like realistic gore for what you're doing to a person, just because I find realism increases immersion. However, some really great games feature NO gore, so its not a must.
