I apologize to anybody who misunderstands this. I wrote it while sleep deprived and irritated. It was meant as a rant about people I know and was wondering if anybody else had similar experiences. I would edit it but then people's responses wouldn't make sense so I'll leave it as is.

I may just be mean but these things bug me. First, people who wear dog tags but have never served. If you're going to wear them, at least know their purpose please. (For anybody who doesn't know, they are used for the identification of dead remains that would be otherwise unknown). Also, if you are a military spouse you are NOT part of the military. Yeah, I realize it's difficult and all and I do commend them for what they do but they did NOT enlist (or become an officer), have not gone through the training and are not risking their lives for their country. Don't claim to be what you are not. Also, people who wear MMA shirts but can't fight.

OT:Does this bug anybody else or are there similar things that bug you?

I have no respect for people in the military. I respect people who pretend to be in the military even less.

Yeah, when people think that just because our army is in a win it means that we have to blindly support said war. I think the job these guys do is incredibly dangerous, and I respect them for that, but they're dying for nothing.

EDIT: Now that you've changed the thread title, this seems a little out of context.

What's wrong with wearing an MMA shirt to express that you're a fan? That's like saying people can't wear t-shirts based off of bands because they can't play music.

1 question, why don't you respect people in the military? I'm not trying to start an argument, just wondering. I mean, that's a lot of sacrifice and risk for the good of the rest of the community.

Thats the bit I don't agree with.

I don't think people who do respect the military are stupid, I don't think anyone in the military is stupid. Now /discussion before I get mobbed.

I'm with Ice on this one. The people who wear shirts like Tapout are often fans of MMA... are you stating that because you do not practice MMA you cannot be a fan of it?.

I dunno, the only thing that people wear that bugs me like that is when someone is wearing a shirt with an oh-so-hilarious catch phrase or saying on it, and the person in question actually has no sense of humor. Same goes for people who wear clothes in a variety of mismatched colors so that people will think that they're "wacky" or "random".

I agree in principle, but... I certainly do not rage about this subject like others do it would seem. Then again, I don't exactly come across many military types in my life, much less those who say they are but are not.

Becoming an officer is called being commissioned, or getting commissioned. That is why an NCO is a non commissioned officer, because they enlisted.

The dog tags also provide quick access to basic medical information, which can save your life.

As far as military spouses, well they are treated like members of the military family. The families of my squadron were invited to all the squadron functions. No, they don't participate in exercises, but they do go to award ceremonies if they want, any picnics and crap like that as well. Then there are support programs there for them when the spouse is deployed. Half of them live on base as well. I can see how they feel a part of the military.

I served for five years in the USAF in case you are wondering.

No, I basically just added that as an afterthought without really thinking it through. Was kinda thinking of a friend who rambles it about who always wore those clothes and ran his mouth but was easily beaten in a real fight. Sorry.

You mean for the good of the rich and powerful. Territorial Army I support, i.e defend the homeland, but armies we send under the guise of 'peace' I have no respect for. Fuck that noise.

Sports would lose an incredible amount of money on merchandising if they didn't slap their name on everything.

I don't really watch much of anything sports wise although I do love participating in just about anything.

I dislike Indie Rocker Hipsters though, I just don't understand the whole checkered purple/black scarfs in the middle of summer with thick black rimmed glasses and incredibly small jeans with converse shoes.. RAGE.

Well, I don't think anybody who wears dogtags is trying to impersonate an army officer, they just like the way they look. If I wear a Metallica T shirt I'm not claiming to be part of the band. I think you might be taking this RIDICULOUSLY too far.
