That's exactly what I was getting at. I wasn't so much implying a societal need for war (it can be argued that there is on some level), but I was referring to the human need for conquest. It's just the way we are.

Why do you think the Taliban dislike the West in the first place? Who do you think armed them? It was the Wests fault all this crap happened to begin with, if every country defended it's borders and nothing more then they wouldn't be able to do anything. Okay, Im thinking of joining the army in a few years. I've been a keen paintballer and airsofter for a long time. I know its not the same but I've always been keen on military history and the idea has always been appealing. People have given me the argument "But your not fighting for what is right". In all honesty, I don't really care as long as ours are safe. Obviously if I saw heinous crimes being carried out then I would try to stop it but in general, I don't care. The enemy want to kill me, so I will kill them. I will be serving my country, I will be staying in shape, I will be loving the adrenaline. Hard work but good work. If I get crippled that'll be a bit of a downer though... If i die it'll at least be a hero's death.

P.S Although I might look a bit closed minded at this point. I still believe the war in the middle east is very unjust. 9/11 was a cry for help from the east. An act of desperation against the vicious treatment from israel. What do we do? Invade them.. I feel ashamed in my government. But acting as a soldier I would seperate myself from such thoughts and focus on the small scale until the job was done.

Do you not realize that you are in fact trying to remain ignorant so you can't be proven wrong? I also hope you realize that if you educated yourself, which you obviously don't value judging from a past post that I responded to, you would find that you are in fact wrong about quite a few things. For instance, there are plenty of blond girls out there who drink, party, and listen to pop who are actually quote intelligent and unique. There are also plenty of soldiers, Marines, sailors, and airmen out there who are also NOT idiots.

I should had said something else but I just pulled that one out of my mind because it is the Nr 1 religion that have waged the most wars of any. Talibans are just a small buch of fanatics. Anyone who would side with them would be so increadible stupid. With that said, there is no way in hell they'd ever be able to wage a fullscale war.

For one, the Taliban is not a small bunch of fanatics. They conquered a country, overthrew a government, and imposed totalitarian rule.

EDIT: The Taliban have waged a full scale war, and continue to do so.

All religions have blood on their hands Islam, Christianity, Judiaism (sp?), and many others. Again, if you are going to single one out, you need accept the fact that your claim can be applied to other religions as well.

The Taliban ruled a country and imposed harsh Islamic law on the population of Afghanistan right after the Russians left. America entered the war because the Axis (Japan) attacked America, even though we had been out of the war.

I have a question. How is it you know that soldiers aren't intelligent? You admitted to not knowing any of them, or having any desire to know them, so I'm just curious as to where you're getting your info from.

Where did I admitt that I didn't know any or have spoken to any?
I have spoken to several and they tend to fall into one of these three categories:

1 - The Traumatized ones who either have psychological help or drink a lot and do drugs. And if you say that drugs are bad and drinking is terrible, they'll go "emo-mood" on you and try to turn everyone against you with the "Feel sorry about me" attitude.

2 - The retarded ones who want us to praise what they are doing "IN THE NAME OF FREEDOM", usually accomponied with the most horrendus written Poem that's actually pretty f*cking offensive in my opinion that goes something like "You don't have to say it, You don't have to like me, but I'm fighting for your freedom". These are the ones I hate the most and these are the ones I'm mainly refering to because all they want is for you to pretty much bow to them so they can in the future, kiss their kids and say "Your father / mother did his / hers service and in the future, you will too because GOD BLESS -insert country here-!".

3 - The ones who accept what it is you say to them and move on talking about something else instead - These are the ones I like and they are few. Why? Because you can talk to them and they are in generally accepting persons who are fully aware of what they actually are doing.

thats sarcasm right? I have yet to meet a soldier with more than slightly above average intelegence. And those that are are doing it for the money and ride through college becuase they cant afford it. they are also not the average grunt soldier, but rather ones not on the front lines because they arent stupid enough to put major risk on there lives.

Your grammar just proves that you "arent" "intelegent" enough to make such judgments. I have had 3 brothers go through the military, all of whom have been excessively intelligent. One was offered a six figure job in the private sector immediately after completing his tour. I don't know what the hell kind of bass ackwards world you live in, but there are many, MANY soldiers who have very high levels of intelligence. "There" accomplishments and skill on the battlefield prove this. There isn't such a thing as a "grunt soldier" anymore as you describe it. Everything is now done tactically, with every move mapped out in the best possible manner. "Thats" all I have to say to you.
