you are banking your hopes on PREVIEWS. hell, most journalists who review and preview games are paid by game developers to say what the dev wants them say. if you actually DO research on the internet there are sites that prove at E3 that it was SCRIPTED.
GASP!
You mean, the big presentation was totally scripted and planned?? I had no idea!
What about the people on the trade-show floor?
You know, the ones not on the big stage? The ones where you can find plenty of video of playing the Kinect themselves? Those ones? The ones who speak honestly about the drawbacks of Kinect, as well as the pros? Those ones?

Please.
Save your conspiracy theories for someone who wants to buy a bridge.

And of course I'll be reading reviews when it comes out! That's a given! Who doesn't do that? I knew I wanted Dragon Age and Mass Effect and Red Dead Redemption on day 1, that didn't stop me from reading reviews first. It's called being a responsible consumer. I do that. But that doesn't mean I can't be excited for it! I was excited for those games I mentioned for months! It's something to look forward to!

And, another thing: If I'm "banking all my hopes on previews", what are you banking your cynicism on?

So I guess Fable 3 and Gears of war 3 (which have both been confirmed to have kinect compatibility) don't count as games any more despite the previous games having sold millions of copies worldwide, hmmm?
They are games but you can already play them with a freaking controller.

You do realise that kinect is limited to racing games, party games and on rail shooters.

With out a joystick or a d-pad how am i suppose to move my character forward or move the camera

With the the Joystick/D-pad you can do those very easily and fluidly.

Since Kinect isnt needed for GoW3 Or Fable 3 the controller is simply the superior choice.
Atleast with the normal controller i can play easilly and dont have to waste 100$/150$ on a bad periferal.

on the fact its been done before and FAILED. if it didnt work the first time then why spend money on the same crap? it will only end in shit, the wii proved that.
Wait, what did the Wii prove? The Wii has outsold the PS3 and the 360. Of you add the PS3's and 360's sold together, they beat the Wii's total by only about 1 million units. How the heck is that a failure? It's the highest selling console to date!

You have a bizarre idea of 'failure'.
It's a good thing you aren't in business.

'I'm not paying $150 for a controller.'
'The Kinect doesn't have quality launch titles.'
'Justin Bieber's advertising it!'
Addressing points in order:

1) Even if it costs less at, say, $100, that's still 100 bucks for a gimmick that presently is not worth a damn. We have already had the Wii for 4 years and THAT system already sucks (for my purposes anyway. I really haven't enjoyed its titles, and not for a lack of trying).

Personally, I'm waiting at least a year after its launch before I will even looking at Kinect again.

2) That's purely subjective. Sorry, but a dozen rehashes of Wii titles is about the quickest way to turn me off short of announcing another old favorite of mine being turned into an MMO or FPS.

3) How is this relevant? Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have all used celebrities in the past at some point. So what if Justin Bieber is either a worthless cock stain or the next Elvis? His association with the Kinect adds nothing and changes nothing, unless he is somehow involved with developing the bloody thing (which he obviously isn't).
If people learn to ignore these stupid marketing ploys and they will be all the happier for it.

I cannot understand why I should even look at this new system. It's more stupid motion controls, above all else. Microsoft said they were going after Nintendo's casual market share, so it stands to reason that those are the only games they want for Kinect.
If much of the hardcore audience doesn't want/care about Kinect, then there obviously will not be many games of that sort for the system. This isn't rocket science, it's basic economics!

Personally it looks lame as hell to me, I have a pretty negative outlook on these types of games though. At this point I will definitely not be buying Kinect or Move until there is something actually worth playing on both of them (all of it looks like kiddy games and just pure boring crap). I'll be sticking with the surefire way to play a good game, a fucking real controller!

the CONSOLE make money but does that mean the GAMES are good? hell no, it only ends in shovel ware.
HAH! You're right. 70 million people obviously don't know what they like or enjoy. I mean, why else would it sell so well, right? The games just suck so bad, that 70 million people bought the system, and enjoy it.

Games like Mario Galaxy, which outsold both Metal Gear Solid 4 and Halo 3.
Games like Mario Kart Wii, which outsold Metal Gear Solid 4, Halo 3, and Gears of War 2...combined.
Games Like Zelda: Twilight Princes that sold a little more then Grand Theft Auto 4.
And many others. About 40 games or so, actually, that sold over one million units.
Yeah. The games totally suck. Those millions of people don't know what they like at all.

Or maybe, just maybe...you don't like the system, or the games offered on it.
Thankfully, though, your word isn't law on what's fun or good.

Millions of other people have a different opinion on what makes a game fun, evidently, and your opinion that you push as objective fact is drowning in contradicting statistics. You don't like the Wii, or it's games. I get it. But it's an undeniable, objective fact that the Wii is a success. Shovelware or not, the Wii kicked the crap out of the 360 and the PS3 in sales, and it's games are selling extremely well.

In fact, the Wii has 152 games that score 75 or higher on Metacritic.
That is, for lack of a better turn of phrase, a freaking butt-load of games.

So what are you basing this 'failure' on?
The financial success of the console?
The financial success of the games?
The consumer satisfaction?
Or the critical success?

Or, more likely, your own opinion and taste.
Huh. Well that doesn't hold water here.
I don't like Metal Gear Solid, but I'm not going to call it a failure. That'd be silly.
You don't like the Wii. Fine.
Don't call it a 'failure'. That's silly.

i might as well stop because all you'll do is find some anonymous asshole somewhere and say "this guy seems to disagree" because the internet is full of opinions and we'll be here all day, maybe the rest of eternity.
No, we should stop because you have nothing to back up your opinion, other then your word.
Sales figures and review scores obviously mean nothing to you, so what can I say to show you how obviously wrong you are?
Sales figures aren't 'anonymous'. Review scores aren't 'anonymous'.
I'll say it a final time: The Wii isn't a failure. You might not like it, but it's not a failure.
You have nothing to back up that statement besides 'I don't like it'. That doesn't hold water.
You say 70 million people don't play the Wii anymore? Prove it.
I can cite all my sources, can you cite where you pulled that 'statistic'? Something tells me it'll be something like 'thin air'.

Your debating skills are certainly a site to behold.

PS3 games over 75: 237
xbox games over 75: 315
PC games over 75: 876

if the wii has so many games, shouldnt the number of GOOD games be higher? not LOWER?
I never said that Wii had more high rated games then the 360, PS3, or PC.
I only said that 152 games, all rated 75 or higher, is a buttload of games. You said the games all sucked, I'm showing you they don't. The majority of reviews on 152 of the games on the Wii (A number much higher then your number of 'zero') were 75 or higher. Evidently people liked them.

Man, seriously: I'm giving you real, provable, objective statistics.
You're saying 'nuh uh!'.

So you're either trolling, or a lost cause when it comes to logic and reason.

I'm writing off Kinect for the same reason as Yahtzee is.

We already have controllers.
Quoting Yahtzee really doesn't add much to your argument, since he's easily the biggest hack in video game journalism.

I haven't written off the Kinect, because I haven't used it. I maintain a steady "Haven't tried it, don't know yet" mentality towards life.

because it's a gimmick (to use Yahtzee's word). I'm not paying for a gimmick, I already made that mistake with the wii. The thing's a 100 dollar paper weight gathering dust next to my 360 and PS3! If it turns out to be phenomenally different then expected, then ya I might buy it, but from what I've seen from the wii they dont have many options for games, especially real games and not stupid dancing games. I just think it'll end up being a big waste of money.

see, I don't think it's going to be bad. I rather like the idea of controlling my 360 with a wave of the hand. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to wait in line for a midnight release or anything, but I see true potential here, plus, it'll be nice to have friends over to play a party game, and not have to worry about one of them inadvertently putting a wii-mote through my 65 inch. I'm calling myself cautiously optimistic for Kinect. On the other hand, PS Move IS a blatant rip off of the wii controller scheme, and I have no use for that. The titles they've shown look pretty weak, albeit aimed more at the hardcore crowd I try to count myself in (I say try because I still play casual games with my non-gamer friends, which, apparently is the gaming equivalent of leprosy). Of the three systems, I see the most potential for something truly new and different in Kinect, so I'm most excited about that.

I do feel a bit bad for the guy trying to defend the wii, saying it isn't shovel-ware delivery device.

I'm writing off both the Microsoft and Sony gimmick because the idea that we needed to rip off each other was so powerfull that they didn't even show any hint of real enjoyment in producing an actual working demo and that they wasted so much money and time ripping each other off that Nintendo actually came up with a better handheld console that doesn't require 3D glasses and easily outdoes the psp and i know that because i own a psp.

Yeah, as so many people have beaten into the dirt, it's movement, and therefore work.

I don't really want to do work until I'm done with a game and feel all psyched up, even then, I never do because I realize it would be hard.

So, I'm not going to say that the Kinect, Wii, and PS3M are bad because I'm sure they'll get the hang of it and make a game that's really cool (if they haven't already...I don't have a Wii I wouldn't know) and then I'll clap for them if I find out and go back to slumping on the couch to shoot stuff with a button press.
