RE4 has nothing to do with the kind of games you described, but it is still superb and you would be remiss to omit it from your collection.

Zelda Collecter's Edition, Windwaker, and Twilight Princess are all additions that you'll definitely want to welcome.

F-Zero GX is a great racer, especially multiplayer, as is Mario Kart Double Dash. In regards to platformers, well the Gamecube is awesome for that. It has the only 2 good 3D Sonic games, those being the Sonic Adventure games, as well as so many other great platformers.

FPS... well Timesplitters 2 and Future Perfect really.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Luigi's Mansion (so underrated)
Animal Crossing (will own your soul)
Um, um....

Can't think of more... need sleep

Thanks to ports it is possible to play Ocarina of Time on the GC.

So... Ocarina of Time. :)

Also you can get Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, Luigi's Mansion, Metroid Prime, Pikmin... even Super Mario Sunshine. Just don't go into Sunshine expecting another SM64 because you'll only end up disappointed.

The Metroid Primes are a shining example of what you're looking for.

Definitely the standards (I.E. Metroid, Mario, etc.) but Eternal Darkness, and Killer 7 are some of the more obscure but still great games for the gamecube. I also recommend Resident Evil 4 as it is quite fun for the gamecube, and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Old Door. And if you like shtumups then Ikaruga is a rare but definitely worth it game

If you enjoy RPGs and are getting a GameCube, you NEED Skies of Arcadia. Enough said.

Off topic: Is there going to be a new timesplitters or what?? I heard a rumor years ago.. but i guess it was just that
Well, I think it was cancelled :( but you never know, it could still be made if the demand is high enough!
This is the most painful thing from the recession for me (and that includes getting fired). Free Radical, one of the best British games studios, started work on TS4. Then they went into administration and got bought out by the German Crytek. Horrifically Crytek say there's no demand in the market for anything other than hyper-realism (hence the far cry engine) so TS4 is canned. Say farewell to genuinely amusing arcade action, hello to manly space marines blowing shit up without any sense of humour or irony.

Gamecube catalogue highlights: Viewtiful Joe, Eternal Darkness, F-Zero GX, Spartan Total Warrior, Killer 7, Timesplitters 2 and 3, Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door, Metroid Prime, the Resident Evil 1 remake, Beyond good and evil, Prince of Persia Sands of time
