Oh if anyone knows, I have 3 tomes or Arcane Knowledge that my mages can not use. They are black but when I click use nothing happens. The tomes of Physical Knowledge and shit all work but ya. And I really need some more spells for my healer.
Are you trying to do it in camp? Because in my experance only the MC can use tomes when at camp.

Well, I don't even know who Shale is, and I don't want to be told.

What class is your character, though? I hope it's a mage... Also what level are you?
If she splits in 4, then I assume you damaged her and maybe killed off the rest of the golems. The thing you need to know is that you're not really fighting 4 'Branka's; They're copies and they dissipate quickly when hit. So, quickly eliminate her copies and get to work on killing her crazy ass. If you have ranged attackers, try to get her to attack one of your tanks and just kite her. (As in: Make the tank she's attacking chase him while you whittle her health down with ranged attacks. You know, drag her like a kite :p)

And if killing the surrounding minions is the problem, that's where a mage comes in. I don't know what spells you picked, but even if they're the wrong ones, surely you have a mage in your party you haven't leveled up yet and you could give them the spells. What I'm talking about here is Glyph of Paralysis and Glyph of Repulsion. If you cast both of those so they overlap, they explode and paralyze everything (And with no way to resist) in a large radius. Extremely useful.
Shale is part of the Stone Prisoner DLC that comes with every new copy of the game.

Anyway, I made the mistake of not having a mage in my party, I'm a lvl 15 warrior, and my companions, Alistar, the dwarf, and Shale are lvl 14. Alistar has a Bow, but no skills for it.

And she splits into 4 before I kill the other minions, I kill 1, get her health to below half, and she goes to the glowing stuff (lyrium I think its called) and splits. But by then my whole party is near death and I have no healing items.

I can't go back to my camp and get a mage because all of my saves are after I'm trapped in the Anvil area.

If I knew how to get the dev console to work I'd just swap out Alistar for Wynne and go from there, but sadly I don't know how to get the damn thing to work.

Umm if you are playing the 360 version you can change party members through the radial wheel (L trigger). This is of course assuming that the area where you are in will allow you to switch them. I reloaded when I got my first extra party member then discovered that. Piss me off (since I had done most of the quests in the village and never saved).

1) Shale is this game's HK-47.

2) See 1.

3) Two-handed Warrior is ripping things apart like they are fodder for my glory right now. My usual party is Me, Alistair, Leliana, and Wynne, tho I change it up once in a while just to see Zevran try to flirt with Wynne, or Morrigan and Alistair 'discuss' things.

And Shale. Need to use Shale more.

Shale is like a Swiss army knife. Tank, DPS, ranged DPS, buffer. Granted, he can only do one thing at a time, but he's still so damn versatile...

However, bows are underperforming in almost any other combat situation.
I'm not to sure about that. Just this morning I...
...fought Flemmeth in her dragon form. And Leliana (Or whatever her name is) was invaluable! Alister and I (Rogue) would be hit with stunning attacks, and Wynn kept running out of Mana. But the archer just plugged away, out of range from the swipes and grabs, while Alister and I would take all the hits.
It worked very well.

But it also all depends on tactics as well, and the power of the bow.
But get some good arrows and a sweet bow, and a character with high dexterity...bows are pretty decent.

But I do love my Assassin/duelist combo. Two Dragonbone daggers of awesome. I love it.
Oh! Quick question: Anyone know the level cap? I'm hovering around 16 or so now.
Oh my God maybe you can help me
I've been looking for Flemith's book in the mage tower forever, can you happen to tell me where to find the bloody thing, as I want to fight another Dragon before I fight the archdemon?

Anyways so far I find the game great, I'm hovering between my Tank and Rouge files and each one is a different experience Kudos to Bioware for making a great game.

Something off-topic thought, I found out today that my college actually taught some of the developers of the first Baldur's Gate, just a cool tidbit I found.

Question!

What is the list of all possible party members? So far I know of the following:

#1:Main Character
#2:Dog (if you started as a noble, you get a Dog. Otherwise, you can heal one later on and claim it as your own as far as I know)
#3:Alistar (The guy who joins you before The Ritual and doesn't die)
#4:Morrigan (which who joins you in The Wilds)
#5:Sten (found caged in the town of ... Log...something)
#6:Shale (DLC character they give you; found in a town whose name I don't remember but which is pointed out anyway)
#7:Zevrahn (I think ... he is hired to kill you. He joins you if you don't kill him)
#8:Loghein (You get him if the Queen takes over the throne. You have to kill Alister is you choose this guy)
#9:Oghren (Joins you before you're sent into The Deep Roads of Orzammarh)

I am sure I messed up a name or two and I am also sure there are other party members whom I haven't yet met. Have you guys found anybody different? Where at? What is your current party and if you've already beaten the game once, who was in your party when you ... beat the game?

I beat the game with an Elven Rouge duelist/assassin. He was joined by Shale, Loghain and, Morrigan

I've completed the game as a Human Noble with the Dark Ritual ending, was amazing.

Currently playing as a Mage, so different, until I got the Arcane Warrior Talent, now I'm a warrior with magic.

Advice for all you PC users, it might be more than obvious, but everywhere you go, press and hold tab as you spin the camera around, reveals items and codex entries that you might otherwise miss.

General Advice, party formation is best with 2 combat and 2 ranged, honestly my Warrior, Alistair, Leliana and Morrigan was an amazing combo.

Oh and stock injury kits and injury kit ingredients until your character collapses from the mass, I've had like 12 injuries at once before, the character (Sten) was practically useless.

I spoke to her: She taught me how to be a duelist but the option to join didn't come up. My Elf was anti-social >.>;

Wrong female, Lothering, the first town you "go" to, just over the river/streams bridge is a tavern, Leliana is in there in the "crazy religion" robes

Also if you're a mage focus on trees since the spells at the end are so much more powerful. And get at least one full tree in the entropy spells. Fuck me they are powerful. Sleep -> Walking Nightmare hello easy mode.

As for prestige classes, -most- of them are good. For mages, Arcane Warrior is a very solid choice. You can wear any armour, be competent in combat, and even off-tank if you need. Only downside is that you'll have high fatigue (+% cost on all spells) due to the armour, but it's incredibly powerful if built right. And if you're going this way, make sure to explore the caverns in the urn quest, there's a mage with a very nice sword (Spellweaver) that restores mana and what have you.
Sweet. I'm going to restart my mage sometime. I messed up her spell set quite a bit (she's lvl 13 now).

How do I unlock the Reaver spec? And how do I get the Blood Mage spec without having to make a deal with the deamon? Most importantly, how do I get the Duelist spec? I'm sitting here with a lvl 16 rogue waiting for the duelist spec to show up.
For the duelist one

go to denerum [sp?] and go to the pearl, she is in a corner dueling someone, talk to her she'll train ya

Honestly, I don't know.
What platform are you playing on?
I'm playing on the 360, and so anything that 'glimmers' I grab and search. Everything.
I also do every quest I can. I might have got the book...
from the little summoning 'quest' thing in the first or second level of the tower, where you have to press everything in order.
Or I might have got it from...
That other 'press these things in order' quest that's at the top level (The level just before the final fight in the tower). Where you press the statues. The final statue being in the room where you meet that demon who sends you to the fade.
Though I'm not sure. I also might have just found it in some locked chest. I just search everywhere.
Also, if you're playing on the PC:

That is excellent advice.
Everything is already highlighted for me, since I'm on the 360.
