100% not buying it, and actively mocking anyone who does. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but anyone willing to trade away their centuries-old consumer rights for another rehash of Halo or Gears is firmly part of the problem.
This comment pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter. People who buy into this scam are literally the problem.

Nothing. I have Steam which is even more strict as well as Origin and i do not mind it. Also not going to buy Xbox for one because i already have a PC that i need for school and other stuff and coincidentally it can also run any game available and the second reason is that Microsoft does not acknowledge my country so they probably won't even sell it here.

I think people will react by hacking the console. The ironic part of this is that because XB1 games require installs, Microsoft could easily be enabling piracy. I'm expecting people to figure out how to crack the console so it won't need online checks and you can install any game you want.

My plan? Stick with Sony. Glad I never took a chance with Microsoft in the first place. And if Sony does this shit, then fuck them too. I'll buy a Wii U and a (better) gaming pc before I buy a console with these restrictions. I'll miss my console franchises but that's not enough to put up with this crap

This. I've already lived with these conditions for a while (except I actually trust Valve to not be totally bone-headed)... and have explored my alternative options (gog.com FOR THE FREAKING WIN).

So I shall continue to do so.

This stuff is so futile. inb4 modders put in a chip that renders all this DRM nonsense completely pointless. This is just like DRM for single player PC games... Makes no sense whatsoever, someone is just going to crack it and spit in your face.

I think you're underestimating the amount of control Microsoft has over each of their consoles. If they make it require the internet they can hardwire the system in such a way that the components such as the graphics card and processors inside of the system literally will not function without the online components being activated. It would took a massive technical oversight by Microsoft to allow modders to sink their teeth into the system. The whole reason why they are doing this is specifically to prevent hacking and to give them more control.

However may Microsoft will leave an exploitable oversight within the new system. I mean after all if thousands of intelligent and creative people over the internet decide to dedicate time to cracking this system I would wonder if any kind of console could resist being broken into and tampered with. But they haven't even managed to crack windows 8 yet so if they do break the Xbox one it will take some time.

Personally I think the best thing we can do is to simply stop buying the system. We are all aware that some people will buy it anyway for their sports, COD, etc. but no matter how beneficial the console would be to developers, if the PS4 is getting all of the love from the hardcore gaming crowd then there is no reason why they wouldn't port to the other system. It's easy enough to port over that publishers would have to be incredibly stupid to deny themselves easily made sales like that.

I could stall. But not getting that next title of a game I've been following for ten years could be pretty tough.
Or is that just sad?
It's certainly indicitive of another problem. I'm not sure it's "sad," though.

I won't buy the Xbox One (Sorry, Xbone just sounds stupid. I like Cross-Bone better. Reminds me a pokemon move) until a good 9 to 10 years down the road. I will then put it in a glass case with a plaque that reads, "Box of Bad Ideas".
Haha, I read the first sentence and wondered what you'd do with it 9 or 10years down the road since it will probably be rendered unplayable when Microsoft pulls their support for it. Then I finished reading your post.

Like you, I won't be buying one though. Why anyone would buy such a blatantly anti-consumer console which will likely be unusable come either the next console generation or Microsoft shuttering the Xbox line for good (should that happen sooner), I'll never know.

What am I going to do? Not buy it. There is nothing about the Xbox one that is appealing to me. I am going to reserve judgement on the PS4 until the E3 press conference.

How does it add anything? Before, you could share with as many people as you wanted, now you're restricted to 10 people.
Most of my friends doesn't live in the country where I live. Sending them the disk of a game would be quite uncomfortable. Sharing my library with them, so they could dl and play, makes the things much easier.
And if one of them could play simultaneously with me, that's even better. Such thing was not possible till now, right? You must have the disk in the tray, as far as I remember.

OK, fair enough I can see where you're coming from. But you wouldn't be able to play with them as the games can't be used at the same time.

I'd like at least one console this generation to not be shitty. It looks like the Xbone won't qualify, so hopefully the PS4 does.
Otherwise, I have a long future of PC gaming ahead of me.

But hey, I seem to remember people hating the iPad when it came out. And techies have disliked apple products for years. Doesn't stop them being popular. Maybe Microsoft will actually see a bunch of sales. I just won't be one of them.

it involves a seat, popcorn, and a very well known gif.

in other words not buy it and see what happens.

That and wait for the servers to go down, and there console to be bricked at launch, that would be fun. Mind you i presume they have at least planned for a large demand so i guess that isn't going to happen, but... it could. Theres so many pitfalls this system could fall into on launch if everything doesnt work perfectly.

I'm going to buy it and enjoy it. The licensing terms seem reasonable enough for me, and they won't change my gaming habits very much.

Microsoft makes most of their money selling business software, specifically Office. It really shouldn't be a surprise that they're treating games as 'licenses'. This is a company that has on a crusade to stop people gaining easy access for sometime. I think it's mostly they're on fault. If Windows and Office were appropriately priced people would have little cause to steal it, but that's beside the point.

The restrictions ultimately don't affect me, and despite all the whining system sales won't be drastically affected. I don't buy used games, I don't rent games, and I've only loaned a friend a game once (for the record, I don't have many gamer friends). I know Microsoft has forgotten it, but the thing still plays games. Halo 5 is enough to get me to shell my money out for the thing.

Companies will always try to figure out ways to get more money from their customers. I choose to deal with that reality, things will never change.

I'm going to hope someone hits Microsoft's servers with a denial of service attack.

Tell me how an always on function, an always on kinect, and curiously restrictive game licensing policies benefit you.
It means I won't have to lug my games collection around if I go to a friend's house or on the road to a convention or something. It means I won't have to rummage around for a disc or a controller every time I want to play a game, nor will I have to worry about keeping discs clean. It means I won't have to wait for updates to install. It may also mean much more flexible and cheaper pricing of games.

To me, it'll make gaming more convenient and less of a hassle.

OK, if I lose internet connection at home for longer than 24 hours, I won't be able to play. But I can't remember a single time that happened to me, and if it does happen, chances are I'll have bigger things to worry about than whether I can play my games. I will also note that if unexpectedly lose internet at all, many of my Steam games will also cease to function, since Steam requires a constant connection unless you explicitly set it to Offline Mode.
