Test away.
If they were going to become a serial killer, it's unlikely drugs would have much influence on it.Amnestic said:Standby said:But the punishment doesn't fit the 'crime', this student who otherwise may have cured cancer one day would be completely isolated by his school, and maybe even expelled or convicted if the school's strict enough, which in turn would more than likely lead to heavier drug use, it would solve nothing.Amnestic said:If doing drugs is against the law (which admittedly it's not in all countries), then by "had a joint or 2" you mean "committing a crime". Again, only the guilty need fear this change.Standby said:This is such a moronic idea and shame on any of you that agreed with it.
Theres such a massive amount of fear when regarding drugs, the most common drug they might discover children using is weed, and judging by quite a few of these replies none of these people have even seen it.
The only thing this policy is going to do i exclude otherwise good students just because they had a joint or 2, which is only going to make matters worse for the community and students themselves.
That answer works both ways:- if he's left alone to develop his drug habit he could become a serial killer and puppy torturer.
Tell that to the friends and family of Chris Benoit. A Little testing could have saved a whole bunch of lives thereXiado said:Testing is totally illegal without probable cause, as the constitution prevents against such illegal searching, even in the own body.
Maybe you're right, but there are so many better ways these resources could be implementend. Has everyone forgotten their youth? Nothin' wrong with smokin' some pot.Amnestic said:I don't disagree. I fully endorse the full legalisation of all illicit drugs personally, as well as prostitution (though that's another argument entirely). However, as a citizen of your country you agree to obey certain laws. If you don't like them, you should probably find a different country, try to change them or accept that you're breaking a law and deal with the consequences. The infamous SCAMola said:So? It's pissing in a cup. If you refuse to do it, then that implies guilt and gives them probable cause. If you agree, you're giving your consent.Testing is totally illegal without probable cause, as the constitution prevents against such illegal searching, even in the own body.

Yes I know it's awesome isnt it. In conclusion, needs more shocky.

I support the testing with a cattle prod.
If I learned anything while in high school it's that the authority shouldn't trust high school kids. I mean, for the most part, they're idiots with egos the size of a planet.MusicalFreedom said:no better way of improving the relationship between teacher and student like ARE YOU ON DRUGS? if authority doesn't trust you, you can't trust authority.
I'm sorry but how does the Slippery Slope argument have anything to do with, you screw up goto Mars to be mining slave, or public humiliation?Amnestic said:Sometimes I wonder if people learn anything in debate classes anymore [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slippery_slope_fallacy]iherduliekPie said:My only question is, what would be the punishment for failure? my high school only suspected people who deserved suspicion, rather than hoisting it upon people who don't act suspicious in any way. there was no problem with this. why change it all of a sudden?LaBambaMan said:If I learned anything while in high school it's that the authority shouldn't trust high school kids. I agree its a stupid law, I dont think it should be banned, Ive never smocked weed or taken any illegal drug in my life, but I still do see the sence in cannabis being illegal, ive been around alot of people who take it and the effects seem simlier to drinking, and ive never seen my freinds wake up with an hangover becuase of it(maybe they did but I didnt notice it or cannabis doesnt give you one), but regardless of you and I think its still the law and we still have to follow them, hey I think its stupid that I carnt just crack people who make me feel a arsehole or look at me funny, but its still illegal so I dont do it (unless I'm pissed off then watch out lol). The infamous SCAMola said:So?
