*first of all I do not want to force anyone on this site to experiment with drugs and/or alcohol nor do I support the use of chemical drugs*
I've seen a lot of anti cannabis propaganda on the internet, claiming that smoking weed will, without question, cause the use of heavier drugs make you rape people and steal from you friends and family.
On the other end I read that the "inventor" of LSD, who was a chemist and experimented with his own creation from time to time, died at the age of 102.
Then I read the reports about how people get addicted to simple painkillers and sleeping pills wich can be bought without a perscription.
Or how many people die by drunk driving or gun fire.
But on the other hand there are no known cases of people who died from cannabis.
I know this is all confusing and makes little to no sense but my point is.
Are drugs really that lethal?
If a man can reach the age of 102 while using lsd in it's life from time to time. him being a chemist knew what the substance did to him and knew wich doses he should take.
But with all the scare tactics and taboo around drugs people get little to no real information about the real facts.
If some teens want to smoke weed wouldn't it be much safer if they did it in a controlled enviorment and bought from reliable sources?
I live in holland and most of our "coffee shops" sell clean, non-laced, weed. They don't sell hardrugs like coke or acid so there is no coaxing them into trying something harder. All sales are controlled and are bound by gouvernment restrictions.
Statisticly the average weed use is lower in the Netherlands than in countries like France and Germany.
I think when we live in a world where people can get drunk whenever they want and aren't shunned for it we also should be allowed to smoke weed if we choose so.
But I do think good information should at all times be provided to everyone.
From kids to teens to adults.
Not some bogus stories about: "my friend got raped by her friends when she smoked pot".
That never happend to anyone I know, it only tells me their friend needs to pick her friends better and develop some judge of character.
I'm not saying smoking weed is without health risks. but so isn't plastic surgery, drinking, light products with artificial sweetners, junk food, driving a car or being in your own home (most accident happen in your own home it's a proven fact).
I Only smoke weed and don't use other drugs
Well I did ate some mushrooms, but those are not addictive, sure the experience can be but the shrooms themself taste horrible(don't know how you do it mario).
In other words: I think proper education about the real effect of narcotics could prevent and or lessen accidental drug abuse and overdosing.
The only drug that should be legalized is cannabis in my opinion. it could also provide a healthy tax income for countries since pot smokers are everywere.
I know it can make you lazy and I know there cases of stoners who developed psychoses and schizofrenia but those people were likely already mentally unstable and shouldn't have smoked in the first place.
When little kids are given ritalin when diagnosed with ADD, like myself, they just become junkies and nobody cares about that it seems. I have taken ritalin myself for a while and I felt at the top of the world at first and relaxed but it got me so bland that it eventually tore me apart in terrible moodswings.
sorry about the rant, but I would like to hear your opinion about this subject.
Is it just to use scare tactics against drugs or should we provide proper and true information about them?
"Knowing is half the battle."
