I play all genres of games, as long as they aren't JRPGs, sports games, or racing games.
Especially sports games, I won't touch them with a 12 foot pole.
I think I am an exception to this. I will play any Shooter, RTS, RPG, Action or Puzzle game as long as it is good. Besides sport games. So maybe not much of an exception.
Favorite is probably either shooter or a puzzle game. Slightly ironic I suppose considering I can't stand strategy games. So RTS would probably be my least played genre. Not sure if I fall into a niche for that though.
Well, in each genre I like, there are usually some things I like and dislike, so I will rarely like a genre full-stop. I usually prefer realism to arcade-style games, and western to japanese games.
I love most games. The only game-types I dislike are RTS, sports and, tower-defense. I love me some RPG's (west and J), shooters (prefer 1st, also love 3rd), stealthy games, etc. I'm also getting back into old-school beat-em-ups. Love me some of those...Konami was on fire back in the 90's!
my favourite is j-RPGs and only W-RPG i like is Bioware stuff and Elder Scrolls, i dislike all others, hate FPS because they don't worth my money for what they give in single player, length wise, 80$ for 5-8 hours of gameplay? no thank you i got used to get 30-100 hours out of my money. so yeah i place myself in "j-RPG fan that dislike shooters and very picky with W-RPG".
I hate to be like everyone else on this site, but I'm going to have to bring up something Yahtzee said. At one point he said "People who play MMOs and people who play first person shooters don't overlap much" But I personally enjoy both genres, Infact the only genre I really don't like are those sport simulator things.. So at least for me saying somebody likes this so they can't like this is rather stupid but hey, Maybe the majority of people is different
Favorite: First-person RPGs (ElderScrolls and Fallout 3) and FPSs
Least Favorite: Sports games, 3rd Person Shooters (Gears etc), (Any game where the game is more focused on presenting story and cutscenes than with gameplay)
I like all sorts of games. I probably lean towards the action side of things, like inFamous or Uncharted, but I think the only genre I never enjoy is point and click adventure games, like the ones Telltale make.
My favorite is whatever Zelda is. Action-adventure I guess. I also love platformers, RPGs (both Japanese and Western), sandbox, stealth, horror, rail shooters, turn based strategy, and Metroidvania games.
In the "meh, they're cool" column is fighting, shooters, and RTS's.
In the "I don't like them, but I'll play them if someone challenges me" column are Madden and Mario Kart. That is all.
In the hatred column are sports, simulators, racing, and shovelware.
In the main, I play non-RT strategy games, shooters, WRPG's & sandbox AA's in more or less equal measure, none of them really being my favourite, I like them all pretty much equally.
I play JRPG's least (haven't really 'taken the plunge' as it were to have an opinion of them), followed by fighters, racers, god-games, simulators and sports. *shrug*
