Nope, as my music seems to vary. I would like it if some of my mates liked music more so i could go to gigs with them etc, but it's there choice, and i won't say to them Dude, you need to listen to more music

Same. It's abit of a dick thing to say to people, but when I hear people listening to trash like Lady Gaga or Kesha I kind of have to tell them to listen to something that's not rubbish.

No, I already have I diverse taste, and most people I know know that. I listen to Rap, Rock, Metal, Electronica, Progressive Rock, some Pop, ect.

Besides, if anyone actually told me that I would laugh.

And no, I am not the guy who tells others to listen to more music, I am tolerant, you are listening to Lady Gaga and Katy Perry? Awesome, enjoy it! Who am I to tell you what music to listen to?

A couple of times. I usually take their advise and listen to the genre they have suggested. I see if I like it or if I don't.

People say that? Well that's rude.

I like staying in my alternative rock bubble. Occasionally dabbling in other tunes.

No because the people that know me already know I listen to a fairly wide variety of music. The only thing I really can't stand is the kind of crap that was popular in the 50's like The Beach Boys, it makes me want to stab my ear drums out.

Ditto, but I listen to metal, rock, psytrance, drum and bass, electro, funk, soul... I like a wide variety... Most of my friends are really into EBM, although it just turns into an elitism contest then of who listens to the most obscure band with the most wanky acronym.

I don't think my musical tastes could get any more diverse, however I'm sure they will.

If someone said that to me I'd tell them of music genres they haven't heard.

The game. You just won it.

Yeah, people say just because I listen to Slipknot that all my music is screamo. Muse and Radiohead are screamo apparently.

Well, no one's ever told me to listen to more music. Which is good because I listen to music almost constantly.

However many people have said that I should expand the range of music I listen to. I think that I listen to an absurdly wide range of music already, but unfortunately most people consider "instrumental" to only be one "type" of music. I really dislike lyrics unless they're funny or sung extremely well to a compelling melody.

This sort of puts me at odds with the rest of my family. My mom doesn't care much about music but prefers to listen to Country music radio stations (Country is probably the only genre of music that I dislike entirely,* save a few parody songs). My dad thinks that there's no point in listening to music without lyrics. And my brother listens almost exclusively to Metal, which is generally good tonally but lacking in good singing (my opinion!).

*[small]One caveat, I don't consider rap or it's spin-off genres to actually be music. That's poetry spoken rhythmically to some form of musically accompaniment. The accompaniment is music, but the thing as a whole is not.[/small]

A couple of kids from my class once lectured me for loving music from the 60's and not caring to catch up with today's pop hits. I ignored them.

Yup. And I usually listen to them, because I'm not arrogant enough to not listen to them. They think I would like some of their music?

Oh sure, I'll give it a try. I might like it.
It's never a bad thing to expand your music taste.

Its never healthy to be single minded about music. I used to listen to metal and nothing else and thought all else was rubbish in every sense of the word. But seeing as I want a career in music i should expand my taste. I listen to pretty much anything if its good. Except for stupid poppy stuff like Lady Gaga or whatever. I actually really like Plan B right now. :)

I tell them I listen to Serge Gainsbourg. There's not many artists that beat him for originality.
