From what i've heard, duke nukem just sounds like an fps game with a ridiculous protagonist.

In fact, the general feel of this thread seems to be "wow it's actually coming out" as opposed to "yay it will be such a great game."

duke 3D isnt good cause its old, its just plain good, i played it again last year and still loved it

Honestly? Nothing. Quake was better. The one-liners are why everyone loves it.Comparing it to any other FPS is like comparing an actual horror movie to Army of Darkness. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

It took 13 years to complete, where as Call of Duty 4 took one and a half. Call of Duty 4 was about 6 hours long and "revolutionized" online play in the gaming industry. Therefore, according to my calculations, Duke Nukem Forever should be about 52 hours long, and should "revolutionize" about 9 gaming industries.

And cure all forms of cancer, aids, the common cold, baldness, infertility, idiots(Yes. It stopped stupid people existing) and probably created a new game genre that can't be named!

On a related note, why wasn't there this much shock when Prey actually came out? It's development time was almost as long.

Judging from the gameplay I've seen so far my reaction is a profound 'meh'. Also, why does Duke melee attack by bashing enemies with his weapon or punching with his fist? What happened to giving them the boot?

Funny... The gameplay footage in the stream looks exactly like Borderlands, but with Duke Nukem 3D guns. What a fascinating coincidence.

And when I say "exactly", I mean "wait, I recognize that sky and the scenery and the car, too, I've played this game already, but with better weapons", except in less words.

To be honest, I fully expect this game to sell very well. Not beacuse of nostalgia or beacuse of the actual game quality, but beacuse people will buy it due to the sheer novelty of owning a game that broke all records in terms of development time and still managed to come out in spite of it's vaporware status.

You know what'll happen? It'll get released, it'll be pretty good, and then a week later Valve will drop episode 3.

There's certainly a good chance that the two games would come out in relatively the same time ... ish. But, who's to say as we haven't seen the extent of PAX. I'm just looking forward to (hopefully) more Guild Wars 2 info.
