This just in: George Broussard STILL doesn't get it.

For example, "licensing engines and trying to change them too much" is not a case of "shit happens", in fact it's very much a part of that "quest for perfection" described in that "silly article in Wired".

How many gamers actually remember the *original* Duke Nukem Forever announcement back in '97?
I remember my brother showing me an announcement in a magazine. Christ reading that makes me realise I'm actually old enough to legally buy it. Creepy.
I second you on that one. I remember my cousins talking about it when I was a kid...

OT: I can get down with that reason...it's how I get away with shit all the time.

That isn't unexplainable "shit happens" that we are supposed to go "Oh well I guess we should just be happy it's coming out instead of wondering what went wrong all those years." It's quite clear why it failed and he says so right in the interview: They spend too much time dicking around with constantly switching engines and not enough time just finishing the damned game. It could have been out back in the 1990's if they had done more of the latter and less of the former.
I guess they were just too eager to be "cutting-edge" to stick to their graphical laurels, not to mention probably coming up with and ditching several gameplay styles in a desperate attempt to keep up with current trends. I'll wait for the reviews before deciding if it's worth it.
