Because it's popular.

Because it isn't as good as the one before it.

Just because the sequel isn't AS good doesn't mean it's not GOOD.

The main character now talks, and isn't robotic.
Lol, sometimes it's not the fact that they now talk, it's how poorly talk and what they say that makes you hate them now.

Because it's on the Wii
I admit, I'm guilty of this to a degree. But it's more of hating a game because it is either exclusive to the Wii, or decided to let itself get ported to the Wii.

I confess. I hate the Wii.
Why do you hate the Wii though? It has plenty of great games and the wagglestick doesn't negatively affect gameplay for the best of them.
I just don't like the flood of "casual" games that have come out for it. No joke, I saw my daughter playing one (I don't know what it was called), and I said to my ex, "The sad part is, she plays the exact same thing as a 500KB flash game with different graphics."

I know the Wii is the weakest of the three consoles right now, but I feel the majority of games released for it really don't even try to take advantage of it's capabilities.
Fair enough you hate the casual games, but that's no reason to miss out on all the good games it has. Pretty much any game by Nintendo for the console is brilliant, and their are a few third party titles like No More Heroes and Okami.

Because X game is not on Y console, I have never seen how this makes a game worse. Sure I might be frustrated that Red Dead Redemption isn't on PC which is the only available console I have but I don't hate the game for it.

"It looks hard." Now I can understand not liking a game because you found it too difficult. But this is from people who didn't even play the game.

"There's no guns in it."/"Not enough like CoD."/"Isn't CoD." Please note that the "Not enough like CoD" excuse was used for a non-FPS.

"It's on the Wii, therefore it sucks." In regards to the GoldenEye remake.

"The fandom is full of douchebags." You do realize that you don't have to even interact with the fandom to enjoy the game, right?
And myriad others.

Bad graphics
How is bad graphics a reason for hating a game? If the graphics are objectively bad (which is different from not being photo realistic) it renders the game near unplayable, it's hugely important to be able to clearly and easily identify what's happening ingame. This whole attitude of "I hate good graphics because they detract from gameplay" is stupid, if the quality of the graphics falls low enough, the gameplay becomes very, very bad very, very quickly.

I think the "because it's on console x" or "because gaming reviews scored it poorly (or highly in some cases)" are both incomprehensibly stupid reasons to hate a game.

I heard someone say that they didn't like Assassin's Creed because "It was too stealth-based."

.... I wanted to hurt them.

"it looks Japanese"
I'm most certainly guilty of this and will never be cured of it.

That's not to say I dislike games from Japan as mentioned above. Ico, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Killer7 and Devil May Cry are all titles I need to try out. Then again, when I think "it looks japanese" my mind races mostly to JRPGs, alike Persona and Final Fantasy. The story and gameplay might be nice, what do I know, but the typical japanese artstyle make my valves burst of too much pressure of pure disdain. Then we have the question of characters and voiceacting of course[footnote]Hugely ruined by stereotypes alá Final Fantasy X, Kingdom Hearts & Star Ocean[/footnote]

OH MY GOD! That has to be the stupidist reason for not playing a game ever, if this thread has a winner (loser?) it's your friend.

I will probably give you that. Ultimately, I just don't like that Nintendo has really been whoring it's console out. Feels like the old NES days when there were certain pots of gold out there, but you often had to go through a lot of poo to find them.

Also
Because X game is not on Y console, I have never seen how this makes a game worse. Sure I might be frustrated that Red Dead Redemption isn't on PC which is the only available console I have but I don't hate the game for it.
I just plain hate console exlusives. Not the game itself, (I'm sure Infamous for instance is fantastic) but the fact that I can't play a lot of good games without shelling out the cash for another console.

I understand how it all works, I just don't like it.

I was annoyed at all the hate with left 4 dead 2. They're reason? Because it's only been year since the first.

So you're complaining because Valve released something in a reasonable time frame? Grrr.

A friend of mine once said "Borderlands is shit because it's gay." Rest assured I'm still bugging him to play it.
