OH MY GOD! That has to be the stupidist reason for not playing a game ever, if this thread has a winner (loser?) it's your friend.
aggreed
unless it's ABOUT twilight it's not enough reason to hate it

What are the dumbest reasons for hating a game you've heard somebody say?

"Red Dead Redemption sucks because it isn't in first-person"

"Portal sucks because you don't kill anybody in it."
"because i dont like the way the graphics look"

I hear that all the time and it pisses me off to no end, that is the worst excuse I have ever heard.

Too much text/dialogue. In an RPG. Where all the dialogue is skippable.

So, why are you playing RPGs when you don't like games that are text heavy or dialogue heavy? Especially when it's stated that this game is specifically harkening back to D&D and old school text based RPGs? Go play an FPS or something.
I like RPGs but ocationaly the cut scenes can be quite anoying in JRPGs in particular. That is why I tend to play TRPGs more.

Ironicly, this person is subscribed to WOW.
What are you aiming to imply? Sure, WoW's graphics aren't that top notch, but there is plenty going on in the story. I tried Eve Online. It wasn't for me, mainly because it won't run on my rather picky laptop. It looks good though.

OT: "I won't play Windwaker because it is cel-shaded. That makes it gay." How about I slap your shit, guy in my school who only plays CoD?

''L4D sucks! You have to wait as an infected after you die!''

My response: ''then the enemy team wouldn't have a chance''

''I'm a zombie? Why do i have to be stealthy?''

My response: ''WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA??????'' I thought it.

This is my brother. Not his exact words.

Im thinking that these people who supposively tweak whenever the word "twilight" is mentioned doesnt even know what the word means...I mean hell, the first time I heard the word used in a game/movie etc, was in morrowind. Lady azura, her sacred time is of TWILIGHT. -_-

Dialogue =/= cutscenes. I'm thinking more along the lines of KOTOR where you can walk up to a character and talk to them and ask them questions if you feel like it. Nobody ever forces the player to listen to their life story or go through this dialogue, as opposed to say an MGS4 where most of the story is contained in cutscenes and you won't know what's going on if you skip it.

I admit, I'm guilty of this to a degree. But it's more of hating a game because it is either exclusive to the Wii, or decided to let itself get ported to the Wii.

I confess. I hate the Wii.
So a good game can't be exclusive to a console you hate...right.

I've got to go with the "Because it's popular" BS.. though that's very rarely actually stated as the reason. Despite the true meaning being blatantly obvious, it's usually poorly concealed under some elitist BS about people being sheep or what have you.

I'd have to disagree with that being a bad reason. As an artist myself, sometimes it can be hard to get into something simply because of the artistic style of the chosen game/comic/movie.
I'll probably get flamed for this, but, as an example, I honestly, simply could not get into Wind Waker simply because I did not like the art style used in the game. Cel Shading in general I am not particularly fond of. I try to be opened minded and ignore some things like that, but there are times when you simply can't get past a certain aspect of the medium, and artistic style is a perfectly valid reason IMO.

Cut scenes are important but when you have to sit threw 30 min cut scenes that is when I don't like it.

I would argue the point with you, but could you first do me a favor and read ALL my posts on the subject. I've already been through it once.

I confess to a bit of this, since as a general rule I'm like "Oh, it's from Japan? I'll pass."

Quite possibly my most favorite game of all time cops flak for "still being an obvious beta".
That's why the 3 patches after release were created, DERP.

Everybody who hates Call of Duty. They'll bullshit a lot and say it's bad, when really they're just jumping on the bandwagon. I'm not a CoD fan myself, but you're insane to say the game is bad.
