Alright, a shiny new thread to mark the shiny new era of...Dwarf Fortress Succesion: The Revival!

Imagine the bold in a monster truck rally voice.

Anyway, for newcomers: the way this works is I will begin a game of Dwarf Fortress, play for an In Game year, and pass on the legacy to the next succesor as I fade into the depths of the fortress, becoming a humble workingdwarf. For those unfamiliar with Dwarf Fortress, google it. There are some good tutorials for it on Youtube by the user "captnduck" that cover all the basic and most of the advanced parts of the game.

Also, I'm not using any graphics mods or things like that, so we should be able to avoid the Cat Mouth Error.

Current lineup-

1. Dekkarax

2. Captainguy42

3.

4.

5.

6.

Hell, it's not an interesting game without some chaos! :D

By the way, what rules are we playing by? No cheap traps...?

Greetings,
can I still sign up here for the Dwarf Fortress succession game?

(I think im more or less able to cope with more or less every situation, except freakin Dwarveneconomy. All rooms are ways to expensive.

I would say it's hard to realy waste ressources that way that they are lost for ever. Trees regrow. There is a lot of stone. Metal items can be -in w orst case szenario- be molten to bars again. So there is not realy a lot of damage you could possibly cause by bad-using resources. :)

Btw MasterSqueak: Did you generate the Worldmap yet/chose a starting position?

Rules?
Well, in particular I'm thinking of certain types of traps. It's very easy to make an invasion-proof fortress by doing things like creating a single point of entry, accessible only through a bridge linked to pressure-plates, such that no enemies can ever cross it and live. Same thing can be accomplished by covering every possible tile at the entrance with cage traps. It makes the game less exciting. But besides that, I think anything goes. I have no problem with lever-operated WMDs.

Well, I'm going to take a refresher course on some of captnducks guides. I have formed a teaser for you all.

Date- Unknown. Need to check.

Well, we have arrived. And by that I mean our wagon broke. Oh well, good enough a place as any. I'm going to run over our supplies and skills. Two copper picks for our miners, a steel axe for woodcutting, an anvil, some wine and ale, some seeds, meat, and mushrooms, and some beer.

Two war dogs and rope to leash them, and a cat. We also have a carpenter, a mason, two growers, one of which is also a brewer.

Oh, looks like terrain reports.

Looks pretty good, we brought an extra barrel of ale to celebrate if we found a good location.

End report.

Date- Day after last report.

Oh dear. It would seem we decided upon a name for our fortress while drunk last night.

What name did we choose, you ask? Just look.

I'm going to go hide my shame.

End report.
