Dante got to the point of being so badass you couldn't take him seriously in the slightest, even though you were meant to in the first game.

We go back to this, apparently younger dante, and everyone complains he's serious because they're used to badass funny dante.

I don't care about the hair, I care that the gameplay will be fun. Like every devil may cry game ever.

Oh, and for everyone complaining that the gameplay we got there was to serious, well...

Because that wasn't desperately trying to be serious despite the game being funny.

The gameplay looks good, though I don't quite feel like it wfere it should be quite yet.

I originally got super pissed at the new look for dante, but after a closer examination, it's not super bad...not super good, but seeing as how this game is supposed to be a prequel, I can live with it.

I hope the story is good, and that dante retains at least some semblance of his attitude, but for right now, I shall focus on gameplay and from what I saw I shall give Ninja theory a B+, and shall approach this like I will the WiiU, careful optimism.

Though to really judge, I need to play it for myself.

I have a feeling that even if the next full gameplay trailer showed something completely true to the original DMCs and had everything you and every other DMC fan wanted, you would still hate it no matter what. You're not looking to be convinced, you're just looking for an excuse to hate on a reboot of a game that you and so many other have (apparently) cherished. You want to rag on it because it's not the familiar DMC you've gotten before. Even if this game came out as solid gold and served to enhance the DMC series, people would still moan about it being shit because it's not the Dante they know or some crap.
That's an interesting feeling. It is fantastically incorrect.

1. Why does he look like someone from the Saints Row 3 trailer?

2. Why did the entire town look like MGS4?

3. It looks...pretty....but most games nowadays do...

5. STOP REBOOT EVERYTHING WORSE THEN IT EVER WAS BEFORE

I guess Ninja Theory got a hold of the unfavorable (understatement) reception and decided to split the difference.

The change in appearance pissed me of at first because of my default fan boy rage. I even created a topic on the escapist where I basically bitched about it. But after reading some of the replays I got I came to a few conclusions. The fact that the hair changed is not my main problem. My problem is that His face is completely different. I mean he is what 16, 17 in this game? he was only 18, 19 in DMC 3. So what the fuck happened to completely change his face in two years. Then there is the whole emo feeling I get when I so much as look at him no matter what colour his hair is and I do not care if this is an "Origins" story his personality is way to different.

And the last and most important point that was made by many good people on the escapist is that I am afraid that Team Ninja are still going to fuck up the game play somehow. To call heavenly sword mediocre is generous and from the little I have played of enslaved the combat was shit. What else have Team Ninja done to warrant Capcom giving them Devil may cry?

Also love or hate him I want to know who the fuck nero is and how he is related to Dante!!!!!

When I saw the word "Team Ninja" I almost had a heart attack. Then I realised it was just Ninja Theory. At least Ninja Theory never ruined Metroid.

Looks completely terrible and out of place of DMC. When you have to make a trailer to make Dante seem like a cool-silent killing machine you are trying WAY TOO HARD.

Best part of the trailer was the audio effects of the swords/monsters, they made me lol.

The "Devil Trigger" made me lol in a bad way...

Not exactly. I'm reminded of that article awhile ago where fanboys were held as the worst customers for the gaming industry precisely because people whine and complain about inane things like the character's hair color, the hair style, or how big his sword is (nothing Freudian about that). People don't like things being remade; it's even worse when they're such a fanboy that they're unable to accept anything new. I don't care if they turned Dante into a black guy from France, as long as it plays good.

You're right. No one's personality changes ever.

Unpleasable fanbase much? I mean, it's just hair.

I love the new look of the game. Vibrant, yet gritty.

Well, it's a reboot, so I'm not going to get mad about the self-insert again. But if they add more music like that, the essence of DMC will disappear a bit. Considering every game's had that rock-type music, like Taste The Blood, this seems a bit more major than the hair color. And I dunno about the gameplay. It almost looked like they just used SR 2 to make that trailer.

So I'm gonna be cautious.

He still looks like a typical anorexic Hollywood teen but at least the game looks neat, I wonder if this is his first big job or something.

I... I hate the redesign. That is not the image I have of Dante, really, it looks like a completely different person. I should remain optimistic and not focus on design elements but the actual game though.
