ugh, I really didn't have a problem with the redesign at first, but seeing it in gameplay now just makes him look stupid,

I really had no problem with his hair, coat, skin or any of that shit,
it's his body shape that I don't like,

he just doesn't fit the action,

I have a feeling that even if the next full gameplay trailer showed something completely true to the original DMCs and had everything you and every other DMC fan wanted, you would still hate it no matter what. You're not looking to be convinced, you're just looking for an excuse to hate on a reboot of a game that you and so many other have (apparently) cherished. You want to rag on it because it's not the familiar DMC you've gotten before. Even if this game came out as solid gold and served to enhance the DMC series, people would still moan about it being shit because it's not the Dante they know or some crap.
That's an interesting feeling. It is fantastically incorrect.
It still looks like shit, it's still being made by Ninja Theory, and Ninja Theory couldn't design a competent action game to save their lives. I'll wait until I see its finished gameplay system before I reach a concrete verdict, but that won't stop me from bitching about what I'm seeing.

Also, the hair isn't what most of us die-hard fans are worried about. That is merely a sprinkle on the icing of the shit cake that is what this project is turning out to be.
Yes, completely incorrect, you are certainly are being neutral and impartial towards the game as we have barely seen any gameplay of. After all, it's not like you, and thousands of other fans, are jumping the gun so early on this game that you fall off the 20 story building the gun is placed on. You are certainly waiting to see finished gameplay before reaching a concrete verdict, that much I know you are doing.

For god's sake, the stubbornness is oozing through that post, you even state your self that you are bitching. If that's not stubborn refusal to acknowledge the game's existence, I don't know what is. It doesn't matter what they put out because all of the incorrigible fans will bemoan any slight changes to their precious franchise. You are free to dislike or worry about the direction the game is going, that's perfectly alright. But to call it "shit cake", "shit", and more "shit", after only seeing brief seconds of the gameplay, and barely anything on the story, is downright childish.

For fucks sake, people, give peace Ninja Theory a chance! We've seen jack shit of the game and people are flying off the handles. It's downright embarrassing how some people are reacting to this, honestly.

Not exactly. I'm reminded of that article awhile ago where fanboys were held as the worst customers for the gaming industry precisely because people whine and complain about inane things like the character's hair color, the hair style, or how big his sword is (nothing Freudian about that). People don't like things being remade; it's even worse when they're such a fanboy that they're unable to accept anything new. I don't care if they turned Dante into a black guy from France, as long as it plays good.
He was making those accusations of me. It wasn't a general statement on his part. I refuted them.

I'm still not convinced... I do want this to be awesome and I've posted in other threads how going to Dante's youth has a lot of potential but the actual game just seemed... bad... Like the animations and gameplay in general looked mediocre, so depending on the feedback when it's released I may just keep the first 4 as my collection and pretend this never happened :)

And I proceeded to refute that refutation.

While I know I came off as aggressive, I don't want to look like I'm attacking you personally. I guess you just became the target of my annoyance, and I do apologize if I came off as aggressive. Read what I said as more of a general statement and I think my point will come across better that way. It's just really damn pathetic how everyone is moaning about what little we have seen, the YouTube comments don't exactly help.

Whether your a believer or a detractor, you've got to admit that these reactions are ridiculous.

Quite antagonistic, aren't you? I'd expect a less rabid response to my posts from someone denouncing rabid judgement.

I suppose I should spell this out for you seeing as your tremendous rage probably isn't letting you see clearly.

My current judgments are derived from what I've seen so far. I know I haven't seen much, but what I've seen so far is downright horrible. I also stated that I will reserve my final judgment until the gameplay system is finished. I'm not absolutely determined to hate the changes I've seen made simply because they are in themselves changes. I naturally hate these changes because they seem atrocious. They can change my mind if their game plays well. I doubt it will happen, but if it does, I'll gladly eat my humble pie. Devil May Cry is not a franchise I want to see go down the shitter.

If you're still not convinced that my opinion of this game can be turned around, let's consider Street Fighter III: Third Strike. I hate the look of the vast majority of its roster. I hate its washed-out environments. I hate most of its soundtrack. I hate that it has no features beside Arcade, Training, Versus, and Options. I hate the direction its story took. It's one of my favorite fighting games of all time. Why? Gameplay.

Regardless of your empty accusations otherwise, I've not determined how I will always feel about DmC. All I've determined is how I feel about what's been shown in trailers and especially interviews as of yet.

Toodles.

It really doesn't matter if he changes his hair during fights or after transforming. He doesn't look like the real Dante at all.

Looks like a 20year old with an attitude. They should of continued the DMC series instead of fuckin rebooting it.

My 2 cents.

Like I said, I know I came off as aggressive but that was mainly because my annoyance reached a peak and was let out on you. Again, my grievances would probably be best addressing everyone in general, and I am sorry if I antagonized you.

However, I still retain that you are being much too judgmental on something we've barely seen. We've seen little actual gameplay and don't know much about it's direction, yet everyone (not just you, I stress) is saying that it's "horrible", "shit", "ruining the franchise", and so much more.

I get that this is probably worrying for DMC fans. I was pretty worried about the direction that the new SSX with it's initial launch trailer [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhkDL6gWUa8], but I did not start calling it "shit" or "ruining the franchise". I was worried about the direction, yes, and I was extremely skeptical, but I waited for a more comprehensive showing of what the game was going to be. Lo and behold, I gave them a chance [http://www.ign.com/videos/2011/06/04/ssx-gameplay-clip?objectid=743923] and it looks fantabulous.

So, I guess what I'm really trying to say is, just wait a little bit. Everyone is making broad assumptions on what little we have seen of the game. It's okay to be skeptical, worried, whatever, but calling it outright "shit" and saying "I hate it" so soon is really just jumping the gun. It's hard to be convinced when it seems that fans (again, not just you) are so dead set that it sucks.

PROS
Core gameplay of melee and ranged seems present
Nice use of varied colors for otherworldly look
A good mixture of urban and gothic environments
Hopefully gameplay will use the dual world aspect

CONS
Combos seems more a lot scipted and less freeform
Everything still has a super serious grimdark vibe
Dante somehow looks worse than in the reveal trailer
"Your world is a lie" reeks stupid plot twist ending
Un-DMCish looking generic enemy and boss design

ALPHA PROBLEMS
Attack and movement speed is inconsistent beween fights
Textures, effects, and animations look really bad
Certain attacks launch too high and guns are slow to switch to

I still have issues with it. It seemed like a Ninja Theory game, and not a DMC game. The gameplay was too slow paced, the guns didn't fire nearly fast enough, the enemies seem bland, and where's the sense of style gone? DMC is all about stylish, fast-paced combos and gameplay?

Also, Rebellion was never meant to be used like that. It was an all-round weapon, in terms or range, power and speed. It should not be able to give massive, defense-shattering blows, or grapple an enemy from halfway across the room.

Unless this turns out to be a good DMC game (which would surprise me), or Capcom bring out a new proper DMC game, I'll be sticking to Bayonetta and DMC 1-4.

Hmm.. did they bulk him up? He looks older than in the original trailer. Gosh, I hope not. If I wanted to play an old ugly Dante, I'd go back to the original games.

...this Dante just came across as an annoying punk, a weak looking one at that, so he just sounded like he was only acting tough instead of actually being tough.
That's exactly what I LIKE about this character. He's not an adult with years of experience and strength behind him, he's a punk kid with emo and ignorant bravado only outweighed by a bad attitude. Nobody likes that guy. And that's why I can't wait to play the story of how Dante grew out of him.

The fact that the hair changed is not my main problem. My problem is that His face is completely different. I mean he is what 16, 17 in this game? he was only 18, 19 in DMC 3. So what the fuck happened to completely change his face in two years.
Heh heh.. my guess is, he got it punched in a lot.

Put a god damn shirt on.

Character designers these days are incredibly stupid. I can't believe this shit.

Look at how many dislikes the youtube video has, it's hilarious.
Im sorry, you have at least seen DMC3 right?

More to the topic, what ive seen kind of restores some of my faith in this game. Now i want to see the other Devil Arms and not just the one that has just retconned Rebellion from us.
I'm pretty sure he IS wearing a shirt. It's just... really mangy and the video quality isn't the greatest.

Although, I think I actually would prefer topless!Dante to mangyshirt!Dante. Or nipple-strap!Dante.

Let's see, lonely guy with black hair and trashy clothes walking through a dull lifeless city with graffiti on the walls using blood that tells people to "not accept this lie" and that all of reality is just a farce?

Yep, this is a Hot Topic commercial.

Alright, in all seriousness I may not be the biggest Devil May Cry fan, but after I saw Dante change from the way he normally looked to... The thing they call "Dante" now... I was more then a bit upset.
ha, that made me chuckle. but as a pretty big DMC fan, i am disappointed. i've watched the trailer a few times now, and it is showing improvement, but not enough in my eyes. dante looks shit, and kinda out of place. the set pieces look like bayonetta's city of vigrid, just with worse graphics.

everything seems like a step back. i will remain hopeful, if there is a costume unlock that allows you to play as normal dante, i would probably be less hateful on this installment.

Dude, this is a Team Ninja game, not freakin' Bioware. I wouldn't expect a story any deeper than a kiddie pool.

DMC series has always been a stylish fighting system first and everything else 2nd. i could always forgive nonsensical story and weird ass, but fun, cut-scenes since the fighting was always tight, and the bosses where amazing.

I have no faith that NT can pull off a DMC/Bayonnetta level of quality fighting system. they dont have the exp. in that area and are bulking up on there design and story instead.

So for me, for those very specific reasons, this 'remake' makes me very sick.

And im no hater im enjoying Enslaved, but this dev just doesnt fit with the franchise
