Having just saw the new tv spot for bf3, and having seen the new tagline. Which is "above and beyond the call", and obvious dig at CoD. Seriously EA and/or Dice, this is just starting to be you attacking the CoD series like a little kid, the tagline might as well say "buy bf3, because CoD is a pile of doody. Say What you want about CoD or Activision, when was the last time they purposefully attacked any game EA has made, and does Activision do already on disc DLC or online codes, no they dont.
Heres my source: http://kotaku.com/5843892/battlefield-3s-latest-tv-spot-goes-above-and-beyond-the-call
So Escapees, what do you think of this blatantly childish tagline?
Really? Really?? Really???
As has been mentioned in the previous posts, companies take little shots like this all the time. MAC & PC, Coke & Pepsi, Verizon & AT&T, Verizon & Comcast. WWE decides to refer to themselves as "sports entertainers" instead of wrestlers, & rival TNA starts adveritsing themselves as a company "where wrestling matters". Sega released commercials advertising that the Genesis does what "Nintendon't".
I remember back when Madden '05 came out, one of the gameplay pictures on the back happened to show cover athlete Ray Lewis "coincidentally" tackling Terrell Owens, cover athlete of their rival, NFL 2k5. What was the response? NFL 2K5's gameplay picture "coincidentally" shows Terrell Owens stiff-arming Ray Lewis to break a tackle. No giant stink was made, and the people who recognized the jab had a little chuckle.
So EA realeases a commercial for Battlefield 3 with a few positive quotes and ends with "ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL" as its tagline.
Is it a shot at Modern Warfare 3? Most likely.
Is it "blatantly childish"? Please! (I'm more surprised that they used an uncensored version of "99 Problems" more than anything).
I think someone's inner fanboyisms just might be seeping to the surface.
