EA marketing at its finest or worst I'm not sure it.

That was simply the dumbest "advertisement" I have ever seen. Stupendously, horrifically bad, and it encapsulates everything wrong with modern-day marketing.

I think I lost some brain cells watching that fucking atrocity.

I wasn't even going to buy this game... and I know somewhere, in an alternate dimension, this ad would have been the tipping point for me to give in to the Madden hype...

Regardless, I wonder if this ad would be shown at every seasonal game this year...

As a piece of advertisement it was a total fucking disaster.

But it was pretty funny. At first my mind was confused, but then the voices in my head started laughing, and pretty soon was eclisping the sound of the commercial and then I realized the laughter was emminating from my mouth not my mind and oh god it won't stop won't stop won't stop laugghing or am I crying ? so then you let the madness take you and there is only Madden and laughter and Madden and laugher and Madded Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn hahahahah a hah ahaha ahhaa a aa aa a a aa................

So basically it achieved its purpose, I think.

I just lost it when they started to play the game because it was so slow and boring compared to the rest of the ad it made Madden look shit.

I'm trying to figure out? EA actually made this as a legitimate marketing campaign? I mean it's not like someone else like Funny ro Die or College Humor making a spoof of an EA commercial? because this is possibly the greatest most hilarious parody of how EA markets things that has ever been made. And that is really kind of disturbing if it is in fact actual EA marketing...

That was the most stupid, bizarre, ridiculous thing I have ever witnessed. I should hate this and yet I can't, it's like a 500 car pile-up with the only casualties being gibbering crash-test dummies, it's too hilarious.

Well, I'm gonna go with Jim on this one and say this is what's wrong with the industry. They spend all this time and effort on this ad, and then complain about not having enough money to make full games and having to cut it up with microtransactions and DLC and shit.

On the other hand, it was like watching a Super Bowl ad. It wasn't bad, and even had me entertained and interested. And I hate sports games(well, sports in general). So it did it's job at the very least, I suppose...

That's the dumbest piece of shit ever.

I found it funny but a lot of commercials miss the mark like this. It's so entertaining the point is lost. Especially if you aren't sure what Madden is.

The point of advertising is not for repeat consumers, but for new ones. This taught me nothing about the product.

Oh hey it's another one of those absurdist commercials that are targeted towards young dudes/men for some reason!
Meh, it was okay not as funny as the Old Spice commercials.

That was commercial genius. I've spent my whole gaming life refusing to play sporting games, and I'm tempted to buy this game just to tell EA I approve.

Basically...

To people who said this missed the mark... I don't think it did. Everyone knows what Madden is. Everyone knows what a Madden yearly release is. It's pointless to advertise the game proper. All your really need to do is remind everyone the new one is coming out, and if that's all you need to do, then you might as well spend the rest of your screen time making the simple message 'this game is back, again' as memorable as possible.

Good to see EA is as in touch with their customers as ever.
For once I think they actually are. "Bro gamers" are one of the largest customer bases for the annual sports games and they care a lot about the ability to co-op or challenge your friends. This ad is pretty much marketed to them, with all its' pop culture riffing, trash talking and all-around display of machoismo. These guys are more interested in getting to play it out with their bros than they are about what new features are included or what graphics improvements have been made

At first glance I hated it and thought it was dumb, but then I thought it had a certain charm to it. Its obvious that someone got a blank check and the freedom to do whatever they wanted making this commercial. I cant believe it, I'm actually going to take my hat off to EA for allowing such a commercial to be made......but I wouldn't be suprised if someone got fired for it if any criticism were to surface.

If you didn't like the ad, that's probably because it wasn't aimed at you.

I mean, it wasn't aimed at me either.

What I actually like the most about this is that in a 3:30 long commercial for Madden '15 you learn pretty much nothing about the game itself except "it's this years American football game". Then again, knowing EA and its sports franchises, there just might not be anything there to sell the game beyond that, nor is there actually any need to.
Because they're not selling the game, they're selling the experience of competing with and one-upping your friends, which is a huge part of the appeal for Madden's audience.
