earth isnt called earth

Were the dominant species on this world so we call it what we want. The day I let some monkey alien call it bannana land is the day ants crawl out of my eyes and tap dance.

But I do know the jist of this argument and have faced the problem from a RP perspective before... you have many races, and it can be fantasy or sci fi, and all of them will have different names for the world they are standing on. Now you have to make up a dozen names just for every one place and it becomes frustrating. Yet if you don't you have cheapened a whole race/species history and identity.

The writers introduce the word Urantia as the name of the planet Earth and state their intent is to "present enlarged concepts and advanced truth" in an "endeavor to expand cosmic consciousness and enhance spiritual perception."

ok so i take it you have all seen a film where aliens of some sort come to earth and call it earth.


what if earth has another name? what if it was abandoned by other beings and they called it something else?

and who decided it was to be called earth???

Guess what, French isn't called French, German isn't called German, Japanese isn't called German... need I go on?

However Terra is just the Latin word for Earth, so there's not much difference.

Meaning that's what it will be called again soon. Me and a few others are rebelling and speaking pure Latin all the time. And we'll force everyone to speak it too.

I am all for this idea. At least I'm not the only person to find the idea of us calling our origin planet dirt. At least nobody speaks Latin anymore.
