"Many women who do not dress modestly lead young men astray and spread adultery in society which increases earthquakes," he explained.

Is it just me or should those men get a grip and control themselves? I mean, it's not like every man here in "the west" starts spreading adultry when they see scantily clad women, right?
Then again, maybe we are just spoiled and have become immune or whatever.

Also, I wonder what would happen if men started dressing sexy. Flash floods?

According to this logic, Western Civilization as a whole should have been destroyed ... quite a while ago.

Funny, I thought that all the earthquakes were ether caused by the earthquake machine we keep in Alaska, or Nuclear bunker buster torpedoes from our Submarines...

We in the West are well ahead of the Iranians on this one though, we had monks blaming the Great Plague on promiscous women way back in the Middle Ages!

Women who wear revealing clothing and behave promiscuously are to blame for earthquakes, an Iranian cleric says.

Hojjat ol-eslam Kazem Sediqi, the acting Friday prayer leader in Tehran, said women should stick to strict codes of modesty to protect themselves.

"Many women who do not dress modestly lead young men astray and spread adultery in society which increases earthquakes," he explained.

Tens of thousands of people have died in Iran earthquakes in the last decade.

Mr Sediqi was delivering a televised sermon at the Tehran University campus mosque last Friday on the need for a "general repentance" by Iranians when he warned of a "prevalence of degeneracy".

"What can we do to avoid being buried under the rubble? There is no other solution but to take refuge in religion and to adapt our lives to Islam's moral codes," he said.

'Disappoint God'

Correspondents say many young Iranians sometimes push the boundaries of how they can dress, showing hair under their headscarves or wearing tight-fitting clothes.

Mr Sediqi also described the violence following last year's disputed presidential election - the result of which prompted thousands of people to hold mass protests - as a "political earthquake".

"Now if a natural earthquake hits Tehran, no one will be able to confront such a calamity but God's power, only God's power. So lets not disappoint God."

More than 25,000 people died when a powerful earthquake hit the ancient city of Bam in 2003.

Seismologists have warned that the capital, Tehran, is situated on a large number of tectonic fault lines and could be hit by a devastating earthquake soon.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said many of Tehran's 12 million inhabitants should relocate.

There are plans to build a purpose built new capital near Qom.

I have to say, after reading this, I just facepalmed. I'm at least somewhat religious myself, but come on, really?
no, it makes sense! don't you see? it's not the slutty dress but the synchronized, rhythmic thumping that that follows setting up sympathetic waves building and building in strength until it reaches a level where it can affect fault lines at which point its merely a matter of time before platonic shiftage, It's all basic physics.

Believe in what you will but keep it to yourself. Religion is dangerous stuff...almost as dangerous as stupid people...and the combination...deadly.
This guy [http://www.timecube.com/] is an atheist, and is saying stuff considerably worse than any religious nut you care to mention.

Blaming stupidity and ignorance on religion is kind of like blaming earthquakes on scantily clad women. It is not only a non sequitir, but is provably false.
Meh...I dont think all religious people are stupid (and I know its quite possible to be an idiot without being religious)...they are a bit weakminded and sissy in my opinion but thats beside the point. What I mean is that when religion tells you to do something no one can argue with it. If you say "I believe the earth is flat" or that "gravity does not exist" you can be disproven. Of course...you can still BELIEVE that the earth is flat and thats the problem. People who put too much weight in faith is blind to the truth.

Now I'm not saying that the truth is that there is no god...but you cant argue or reason with religious people cause in the end it comes down to some stupid belief they have that dictates their life, not their own intellect. And no matter how much evidence you throw in peoples face some will still believe some guy walked on water a couple of thousand years ago. Makes me sad for humanity :\

Basically, when bad shit happens, it's because of the people that does stuff he doesn't approve of.
Oh wait, my mistake. Stuff that "God" doesn't approve of.

I should become religious too.
Sounds very convenient to have this God around.
God says you should [insert action], or you'll go to hell.
Awesome.

Stupid people saying stupid shit.
I'd love for some scientist to try and justify this.

you see when women wear exposing outfits the wind forms highly dense air pressure in the cleavage and tushie areas that cause the ground to heat up under said areas which cause friction in the seismic plates and force them to shift causing an earthquake :D
Oh crap, the only way to be 100% safe is for all women to never wear clothes again  :\ :| :) :D

instead of say, averting their eyes? Just saying.

Second: Organized religion in and of itself is not bad. It's when it's taken over by fundimentalists that you have a problem.
Well, to be fair, if I see a hotty that is barely dressed, I don't think I could avert my gaze. >.>

Correlation? I doubt it, but let's say there IS a correlation between earthquakes and scantily clad women.

Causation? This is a tricky one. Are women wearing less causing earthquakes, or are earthquakes causing women to wear less?
LMFAO if it falls off when shaken then its skimpy :D (Benny Hill sketches are running through my mind right now :D)

Also raises a serious point does this mean we can end earthquakes altogether by covering all women up ? Worth examining as Im sure women wouldnt mind contributing to extending the planets lifespan and allowing mass geothermal plant constructon. In compensation a shopping budget :D
I am just contemplating the environmental problems that would arise.

The tectonic shift is one of the few ways we bring fresh "earth" from beneath the mantle to the surface. Geothermal pockets at the bottom of the ocean would die and would kill those dependent on them. The feeders would boom from the mass increase in food then their population would likely be shocked as it was non-replenishing. THAT would have effects.

Then we look top side and I start to wonder what effect a government subsidized shopping budget would have on the economy. Only those stores that receive accreditation would be able to accept the government coupons. This would put undue pressures on other businesses.

The boom in demand would increase production, which in turn might increase waste. Fabric factories would be churning out pollutants like crazy trying to stave off the next set of divine earthquakes...

Bratz dolls would be banned... and Barbie...

Fuck the planet, let's do this!!!

The bastards will literally kill you if you draw a picture and name it "Muhammed"

Why am I not surprised by this stupidity?
Yeah, they get angry if their prophet is named or given a physical representation, yet the most popular name in the world is Muhammad, and that to me is naming and giving it a physical representation. A person is a physical representation, right?

Funny how when Hurricane Katrina hit people were blaming it on loose morals and the enabling of "fags and dykes" as one preacher so lovingly put it. But the one place that didn't get flooded was the Red Light District.
this same logic happened with the massive bush fires in Australia. Apparently according to some retarded old man preacher in the US, Australians are vile beasts and God was purging the world.

All this stupid fanatical ranting as a result of natural disasters makes me wonder WHY religion exists. It's just a load of bullshit half-arsed lies to get people to do what you want them to do. If the dumb sheeple of this world just grew up and stopped believing in their malignant vengeful glorified tooth-fairies, we would be one step closer to actually finding peace. PERHAPS the world is so angry at us for being so stupid, it's literally trying to shake us awake.

Hehe, those clerics are probably just jealous they can't get themselves a member of the opposite sex anyway. Forget them, by the time you read this, i've already forgotten him
