Despite knowing nothing about the game, I know it is ruined.
True story.
Stop being selfish and think about the immersion!! It's all some ppl have in life. Their sweet sweet immersion!
I'm getting a mental image of a 'immersion adicts anonymous' group.
It is terrifying.
Go to bioware forums and look up something related to tali and picture them in a room together. Terrifying indeed
If this is an offshoot project then I'm more hopeful. However, Kotor and Warcraft created a rule where once a franchise has an MMO, the single player iterations cease. Devs decide to continue the canon through the MMO.
Unfortunately story telling is butchered in MMO's due to their multiplayer nature. Everything becomes less personal. Players become nameless soldiers rather than the focus of the story.
SWTOR did a great job with its origin story lines. Your character has personality, you have allies with personality and develop relationships with them. The story is engaging and personal. You have *choices* instead of being railroaded into the generic hero. But even there you can see understandable cuts that single player games like Mass effect would have been able to fully explore.
MMO's dont have the ability to sell a world the way single player games can. They cant waste resources on non combat quests that exist only to deepen immersion. Everything boils down to the basic gather X, Kill Y, turn in at Z. At max level Immersion dies a horrible death, as everything becomes numbers and *playing the right way* to surpass the next man.
Again SWTOR questing is a much needed move away from this, but its still limited by the platform.
To their credit WoW has also tried, but text bubbles are lame in 2012. We barely let Zelda get away with them.
