Bah, why do they need to give us a class system. I know it's a dirty word around here but Runescape was an mmo that worked perfectly fine without one. Just setup the way gear works to discourage everyone making the same spell warrior in plate armour.
You know who did that a loooooooooooong time before Runescape? Asheron's Call :D

Seriously, give me another MMO like that and I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.

I won't play it, they'd have to take out everything I like about the Elder scrolls to make it into an mmo :/

Yeah because we have no idea what an MMO is like. So tell me, are we suppose to either say something positive or nothing at all?
Nothing at all.

Why do you think I have no comment yet on Halo 4?

As much as I am terrified that it may suck, I say nothing because I may be wrong about it. The same could be said about every other upcoming game.
So much for balanced discussion.
The only way to balance this discussion after the OPs intro, is if someone else raves about how awesome this game will be and how it will shit on every game ever made by anyone... that includes the most famous game of all, The Universe, by Gods Will studios.

The person would also have to cream their pants and suffer a fatal heart attack from the euphoria.

Then this discussion would be closer to balance... in that the bullshit and wild speculation would be exactly equal.
No, the only way to balance ANY discussion is to have people talking from both sides of the fence, not just the ones who have postive things to say.

Just like fuckin' Skyrim this is, not open to criticism.

Not only is it not even out yet, but we know nothing about the game except who the dev is and what engine it's on. Most people are just looking for something to whine about, which is why no one listens when gamers complain about legitimate issues.

-Three factions
--Ebonheart Pact: Nords, Dunmer, Argoanion
--Aldmeri Dominion: Altmer, Bosmer, Khajiit
--Daggerfall Covenant: Orcs, Redguards, Bretons

-The Imperials are "badguys" who work with the Tharn family, and Manimmarco. Manimmaro is selling everyone out to Molag ball.

-120 hours to reach level cap

-The game has a hubless quest system

-Werewolf plauge quest chain

-Your Character has had his soul taken by Molag ball, which is why you can come back to life if you "die"

-They use some of GW2's mechanics were your weapons determine some of your skills. There is also doddging, skill combos, and other GW2isy things.

-Enemies can also do combos with eachother, and have all the blocking/parrying/dodging skills you can use.

-Fully voiced NPCs

-A radiant AI system

-Mundus stones that work in the same way as guardian stones in Skyrim

-Crafting, alchemy, and soul-gems are in the game

-Mounts

-Wayshrine fast travel

-Dont expect to get a litany of overpowered Daedric artifacts

-Can join guilds

-Helping guilds unlocks skills

-Cyrodiil is a giant three way PVP zone

-Can become emperor

-Cannot become Vampire/Werwowlf, No player housing, no Player/NPC romance, most likely no dragons

I've no interest, but this ruins and changes nothing. It's a side game made by a separate developer, and taking place in an era prior to the series proper. Worst case is the game fails and they learn never to do that again. Best case scenario is it enjoys a modest success and plays similarly to the main series, which means that there will be less threads asking for multiplayer in TES VI. That would make me happy.

I concede that you know much more than I have seen about the game in the past 24hours, but my statement about complaining still stands

I'm intrigued by this. Really, it all depends on how they do it. What I loved more than anything about the series is wandering throughout the magnificent world, seeing the sights, and happening upon dungeons and ruins in the middle of nowhere, and spending several hours distracted on my way to the next quest.

Could this be replicated in an MMO? It'd be a huge challenge, as they'd need to change a lot of things and innovate to make it work, but it would be amazing if done right. The continent is one of the best settings you could really hope for. All in all, I'm cautiously very slightly optimistic.

If it's doesn't use the exact same formula that every other MMO has been using for years, I'll be happy.

I remember thinking while I was playing WOW, "Wouldn't it be cool if I there was an MMO that played more like Oblivion", you know, without the hotkey based skills, thinly veiled turn-base combat, enemies that for some reason can't be fought from on top of a cliff (God forbid you use the terrain to your advantage); those are the things I hate about MMOs.

MMOs aren't inherently bad, it's just the formula that's tired and overused. I honestly don't see why so many companies think they can be successful by NOT differentiating their product.

So you know how... like... Skyrim came out at the end of last year. And you know how... games, especially ones like Skyrim, take quite a while to make. And you know how... MMOs also take a long time to make.

See where I'm going here? Both of these things would have been worked on during some of the same time and Zenimax has multiple in-house teams, meaning there being an TES MMO very likely does not mean there won't be a TESVI (or a Fallout 4).

Chill the fuck out people.

Ok at first I thought this wouldn't work, and then I thought about it...

The thing about the TES series is how lifeless the the world really is. Sure there's a lot of stuff to do, but when you sink 120 hours into it you realized that all of the people there are just lifeless dolls regurgitating the same 3 lines in slightly different voices.

Now imaging replacing all those NPCs with real, living people.

Walk into a pub, and the place actually seems lively and people respond to you.
Quests given out by real people that aren't just the same fetch quests over and over again.

It could actually the first time a living, breathing world can be created as a MMO.
