The ending to a game can decide whether the whole expreience of flying helicopters, skydiving, killing hundreds of men, cawling through mud, blowing up buildings, travelling to a deserted island and setting up a cocktail bar is worth it. Sometimes it is, and you walk away from the game feeling a sense of achievement. And sometimes, it isn't.

* SPOILER BELOW! *
An example: Fallout 3 before Broken Steel saved the day. There's nothing more annoying, dissatisfying, and downright stupid than playing through a whole game, only to find that you die at the end.
* SPOILER END! *

Remembering that got me to thinking: what other games are there that end really badly, and can bad endings ruin a game? What better place to ask than here? What do you have to say?

Condemned 2.

Started off so scary and fun, then degenerated into cliched nonsense. Sigh.

Fable 2.

Talk about getting all dressed up in kinky lingerie and falling asleep.

The Conduit's ending killed what was already a bad game for me... It ends just as you're about to fight the last boss. Completely sucked ass.

Master Chief, what exactly is it that you intend to do?

Sir... finish this fight.

Whoever had that idea needs executing, so does whoever decided to skip an ernormous gunfight on a alien spaceship to start Halo 3 in the crappy jungle. They're probably the asme person.

Phantom Brave.

They killed off the only (in my opinion) interesting character and threw in a "YAY EVERYONE'S HAPPY" ending. Good God, that game was such a disappointment for how promising it initially looked...

Half Life 1 , 2. Dude how can u leave these 2 out i just dont understand. In the first Half Life, you killed the mother monster and for then ending you choose to sit with a scary man on the tram or face 1000 monsters.... Sheesh

In Half life 2, when u win everything freezes, man its like the matrix and the G-Man is like the black guy telling you a story

KOTOR2 or maybe I just didn't get it.
There's nothing to get, that game had no ending.

OT: LoZ: Link's Awakening. I was quite disillusioned by that one.
So I'm left in the middle of the ocean to slowly die of dehydration or starvation, and that damn Wind Fish couldn't be bothered to give me a ride? WTF?

Its all there in the manuel, it SAYS THE GAME WILL END WITH YOUR INEVITABLE DEATH

Try reading more books, They is full of learnin!
I didn't mean that it was unexpected (which it was anyway), what I meant was that I think it killed the game for me. At least until Broken STeel came along.

Fair enough, although i loved the ending - very poetic.

Yeah, it was. i just didn't like the idea of no longer being able to play that character, or play on after the ending.
