I don't buy energy drinks cos caffeine pills are about 10 times more effective and 30 times cheaper. Why does anyone buy energy drinks? (unless they like the taste... or in some cases lack of)

1. Price-4, If it's over £1.50 for a big can or £1 for a small then no thank you.
2. Brand-3, I'd take Red bull, Relentless or Monster over Kick/tesco brand if I can help it.
3. Package-1 I can't drink a package.
4. Ingredients-2 I'd tend not to look at them though if I heard that one of them makes you sterile, I'd avoid it.
5. Taste-3 It's gonna taste like Jager anyway.

Arguably incorrect. It's in a small bottle and costs about 4 dollars for one (or was it 3?) and gives you direct energy without a buzz or anxiety or stress for about 5+ hours. It tastes fine for the most part too.

Vitamin B IS something you're supposed to have massive quantities of... we just don't eat nearly as many fruits as we're supposed to.
.....

Are you a sales representative for the drink or something?

And no its not "arguably incorrect"- the human body is flat out not "designed" (for want of a better word) to tolerate large quantities of caffeine, energy drinks are unhealthy by their very nature.
And were did vitamin b come into this? I was talking about the effects of caffeine.
You keep missing something.

The caffeine is a byproduct of the vitamin, YOU ARE meant to have large amounts of vitamins in you, thousands upon thousands of milligrams to be properly accurate. As such, as long as it's the vitamin and NOT just the byproduct (the caffeine) you'll be fine and IT IS GOOD for you.

I'm no sales rep, heh, but as long as the thousands of milligrams aren't caffeine but are instead the vitamin that makes it, the exchange ratio is solid and good and there's really no fault. Overconsumption of vitamins CAN happen and that's bad, but the main bad thing about it is that most people don't consume vitamin b at night so there's no worry but when you do, you are accelerating your system and keeping you up through natural processes (which includes caffeine which IS found normally in your body). If you ate a lot of fruits at night you'd get the same high if you could stay up for an hour past then.

Ah okay. This is new to me. Why would you mix stimulants with depressants?
Because sometimes you are just starting a night out and your tired so you want to get pissed and get energised. Hence Vodka and Red Bull

If you look at alcohol purely as a deppressant then surely the question is why drink it at all?

Caffeine pills are unhealthy versus vitamin supplement methods.

Some people do actually like the taste.

I like wine.

1. Price - 5 - Cheapest is better
2. Brand - 1 Brand means nil, red bull and monster are some of the worst tasting brands yet the biggest names.
3. Package* - 4 (prefer cans over bottles by far, since they eventually affect the taste (Flat concentration at the bottom of bottles)
4. Ingredients - 5 - There's cheap stuff that tastes vile because of the ingredients, and cheap stuff that tastes the best.
5. Taste - 5

I don't drink much of this stuff, but when I do:

1. Price - 5 - If it's cheap and tastes good I'll definetely buy it.
2. Brand - 1 - Doesn't really matter as long as it tastes good and is cheap.
3. Package* - 3 - I like cans a lot more than bottles when it comes to energy drinks.
4. Ingredients - 1 - I don't even know what the hell "Ginseng" is.
5. Taste - 5 - I won't buy it if it tastes bad.. Even if it's cheap.

Huh? The fact that it is a depressant is the reason to drink it. It inhibits the central nervous system's function. It makes my deadlines seem less pressing, it helps me get to sleep and it makes the pain go away. It also makes me feel slightly less uncomfortable if I'm forced into a social situation.

1. Price - 5 (Biggest factor, the reason I haven't ever bought Red Bull)
2. Brand - 2 (If it was between a brand I didn't know and one I know, if they're the same price I'll go for the brand I know)
3. Package - 4 (Eye-catching cans are always better than bottles, for whatever reason)
4. Ingredients - 1 (I don't think I've ever looked at them, so long as I stay awake)
5. Taste - 3 (They all taste the same to me, but if they add fruity flavours even better)

EDIT - I actually noticed I just the Captcha in wrong just before the page loaded, yet it still posted. Wut?

1. Price - 1 - I tend to go for taste over quantity when it comes to this.
2. Brand - 2 - This really does not matter at all to me, but I tend to avoid Redbull. o_O
3. Package - 3 - Well cans > bottles.
4. Ingredients - 1 - Contains caffeine? That's all I needed to know.
5. Taste - 5 - 1 covers this one pretty good.

I'll preface this by stating that i am hilariously addicted to Mother, i've cut back quite a bit (namely due to one of my supervisers at work limiting me to 2 cans a day) but i used to quite regularly drink between 7 to 10 standard cans in a day.

Price - 3 to 4. Doesnt much affect my choice in energy drinks. But very much affects where and how i buy it. I keep an eye on whos got specials on and when so sometimes its cheaper to buy 4 packs of big cans, other times 6 packs of the 300ml.

2. brand - 1. While i do stick to Mother generally that decision is based on the other criteria we're discussing rather then brand loyalty. I dont know wher eyour from or how widely known mother is as abrand outside australia, but when it first released it was absolutely terrible, It tasted like sweat and piss and was widly reviled. a while later the brand relaunched and the advertising openly stated "It's nothing like last time" it took me a long time after that to even give them a shot but i slowly converted from v and redbull.

3 Package. 4 Particularly size. I drink my energy drinks fast and i like alot at once, even disregarding price per Ml i prefer a bigger can. I was also at first suckered in when mother started selling in bottles, quickly turned away when i realised it didnt quite taste the same. (not me being crazy either i checked online and it's a different formula)

4. ingrediants 2. Not a big deal, I want to see a high caffiene, tuarine and guarana count per 100ml but if it tastes good and i get a decent energy kick from it. Im fine.

5. Taste 5. easily the most important factor for me. If i end up giving up on a certain product then all these other factors become important in helping me choose a new one. But once i get used to a specific energy drink its the taste i get hooked on. notably for while there was a drink called 'smart energy' available in a blood orange and chilli flavour. oh my god it was amazing, i can see that it wouldnt be to the vast majoritys tastebuds and ditching it was probably a sound marketing decision but i miss it so much.

Hope that helped, feel a little weird that i managed to write a wall of text about energy drinks but what can ya do. Im an addict :p

1. Price - 4 - Depends very much on my financial situation. I live in Finland, so sometimes I'll go ahead and buy the 2,50e/0,33l Battery, but that's exceptional. Still, I prefer 1,80e for a 0,5l Rockstar cola any day.
2. Brand - 1 - As long as it tastes good, I'm all for it.
3. Package - 4 - I prefer cans because... the drink is colder in them. Or maybe I'm just crazy.
4. Ingredients - 1 - Never cared. Should I?...
5. Taste - 5 - Kind of self-explanatory. Monster makes me want to slit my wrists (it really is that fucking awful).

1. Price - 3; not terribly important, as general pricing seems more or less standardized nowadays... 'cept for Red Bull. I occasionally splurge on that.

2. Brand - 4; mostly regarding variations of said brand (Monster Assault, Amp Recharge, Rockstar Juiced, etc.). I try every brand and flavor I can. :/

3. Package - 4; as stated above, I try everything, but if something new looks cooler or has a better name or the like compared to another new one, I'll try the former first.

4. Ingredients - 1; honestly taurine, ginseng and whatever have no pull or weight for me whatsoever. Healthy? Probably not, but I don't drink or smoke, so energy drinks are my only vice. :p (Despite that, I rarely have more than one on any given day)

5. Taste - 4; rating applies to my returned business of a particular drink. Can only think of two offhand that I "bleh"ed at and have not bought again; Full Throttle Blue Agave and Monster M12 (or something like that... fairly certain it's the one in the purple can).

Mark each of the following criteria from 1 to 5 depending on how important it is for you , with 1 being not important at all and 5 being very important.

1. Price - 4. An energy drink shouldn't cost more than a cheap cup of coffee. If it does, then I'm buying coffee instead.
2. Brand - 1. I don't really care. Most of them are the same thing anyway.
3. Package* - 4. I'd prefer not to draw attention to myself due to my choice of beverage. The more understated the better.
4. Ingredients - 3. I want an efficient caffeine delivery system. If it has that then I'm good.
5. Taste - 5. This is the most important thing. If it tastes like ass, I won't be buying it again. If it tastes nice, I'll be buying more of it. Simple as.

Hope that helped. Also, it would be nice to see what your conclusions are when you've finished the assignment. :)

1. Price 3- <$2/bottle
2. Brand 3- NOS
3. Package* 5- The simpler and more sophisticated the better in a sea of illegible typefaces explaining how 'rad' the drink is. NOS is flashy but at least I can read the body copy.
4. Ingredients 2- I don't care as long as I stay awake from it.
5. Taste 4- The less like chemicals and sugar the better.

1. Price - 2 Literally all of them are like, $3.29-3.69/ a can in Canada
2. Brand - 4 I usually stick to Monster or Rockstar Cola. Amp is garbage.. gave me wierd muscle pains.
3. Package* - 1 Can, Bottle, doesn't matter.
4. Ingredients - 5 I like to know what I'm drinking.
5. Taste - 5 Gotta taste good or I don't want to drink it lol
