Enslaved is pretty much a metaphor for a typical relationship. I think you know what that headband represents.
Either way, the woman makes the rules.

Well, I mentioned that Trip's excellent answer was "survival".Susan Arendt said:I think one thing that folks are overlooking is that Trip would've enslaved a woman, too, if she thought that woman could help get her home. Or a mech. Or a great big bear. Monkey is, quite literally, her only option. She is 300 miles from home, alone, terrified and almost entirely defenseless. More to the point, she knows that what she's doing is horribly unfair. When Monkey says "I guess I don't have a choice," she replies, "Neither of us do."
Celtic_Kerr said:One problem: You don't really see her use the helmet much. Infact, about 3 minutes into the game, Monkey says "If you wanna live, you do as I say" and then Monkey gives the orders to Trip in combat and all that. Sure, she has the device capable of inflicting intense pain, but he gives the commands. At one point she even says "I'm not commanding you, I'm asking you".Grahav said:In "Enslaved: Journey to The West" we have Trip put a controlling helmet on Monkey so that he helps her to come back to her place.
Although it is quite an assholish thing to do, she has quite an answer for why: survival. The desire to live beats most arguments.
But my question is: Would people be okay if it was a guy enslaving a girl for the same reasons?
Or would Fox News be bitching about it?
Also, in recent discussions about the reasons for the success of Twilight one of them was: "One common female fantasy is having a strong man being emotionally fragile and thus dependant of the woman". We see the creatures in Twilight doing that and Monkey is forced to use his strengt to protect Trip.
So does anyone think that this game plays a female fantasy?
Please use spoiler tags because I haven't played yet.
but monkey has to help her and think of the best ways to help her because if she dies he dies as well so he is not really given a choice in the matter
Note: I've not beaten the game yet, I've not come close, so if anything happens to reverse this, then please do not use it as a rebuttal against this claim.

The machines are called slavers and enslave humans. The whole fight you go through is to keep from getting captured.Kenko said:The fucking game is called "Enslaved"?

Wait a fruit and a PS3?!?Jack and Calumon said:Well, if the man was the brutish thug I played in the demo then it would be pretty bad looking if the woman was the same one I saw in the demo too. But if the Woman was say... Rubi from WET and the guy was... Otacon from MGS then it'd be totally fine. It all depends on how you characterise your... characters. Duke Nukem is a badass not because he has saved the Earth from evil aliens single handedly. Quite a few games have done that but it's Duke's personality that sets him apart.
Calumon: Female fantasy? Is that like Jack's with the fruit and the PS3?
I know, but its called Enslaved, and you are Enslaved whilst being hunted by Slavers. I doubt it matters who enslaves who. This thread is silly. Why are people so surprised that your character is Enlsaved when the game has that very name?Celtic_Kerr said:The machines are called slavers and enslave humans. Can't say I was shocked. I really wasn't. It's the metaphor that was behind the enslavement, and whether it was seen as a female fantasy that is being looked into.Kenko said:I know, but its called Enslaved, and you are Enslaved whilst being hunted by Slavers. I have to disagree, as I said above, almost right into them meeting, he tells her "If you're going to survive, you listen to ME" and she does. She never commands him up to where I've played (about half way through)Madara XIII said:In short.rockyoumonkeys said:Enslaved is pretty much a metaphor for a typical relationship. That dude is WHIPPED!!
Hey; jokes aside - that was a pretty large research project there, and they found they almost always fall into several categories. It wasn't strictly scientific - was done by an woman's magazine ( demographic skew ), but it was anonymous, and it's still referred to ( almost like the old Kinsey report ).Grahav said:Thanks for the tip.
I haven't done my research on this, but hearsay from old friends ended up as professional dom's, apparently there's quite a market; and they seem to think that's not something their customers are getting... (or is it, will ask for ) under other circumstances.Monkeyman8 said:well that fucks my chances for finding a dom girlKeava said:Or...it could be male fantasy to be dominated. Keep in mid the whole idea is based on a traditional Chinese story, most of anime fans probably even know it quite well since early Dragon Ball was also based on that theme.
Generally, last research number's i could find are from 1995 and they shown that out of heterosexual people into BDSM about 70% of males was more into dominant role, while 90% of females preferred submissive role.
Which Chinese story though? I've never heard of it

Female fantasy? Well...considering how good the story is...maybe, but this game is playing a completely different game compared to twilight. The men in that role are fighting for the attention of not just any female, but a pathetic one. The woman isn't like wonder woman, or Samus or even princess peach. If princess peach had a human servant who hid and run around panicking when danger approached that is as close to who Bell Swan is. No strong personality or charisma....heck this makes just as much sense as the MANY anime that have a piece of **** male protagonist who some how gets the attention of the popular/beautiful girls of the school, workplace, etc.Grahav said:In "Enslaved: Journey to The West" we have Trip put a controlling helmet on Monkey so that he helps her to come back to her place.
