Well, now it looks like you'll be beating the "Green Lantern Sucks" dead horse for a while and maybe stop harping on Transformers and Micheal Bay (as that was starting to wear a lil thin)... oh... wait... Transformers is out... like in a week or two...

... that was short lived. :D
Yah, if you noticed the Green Lantern review catapulted the show up to top 3rd viewed I think for the week even though it's usually somewhere in the middle. I guess people pissed off is more entertaining then watching another insightful review.

Even though you said that cars is the worst pixar film it is still better than what Dreamworks animation team usually puts out.
but wait Michael Caine is in it? since he is my favourite british actor, I shall see it!
If you haven't see Kung Fu Panda 2 yet I'd check that out. It's probably the only Dreamworks movie since the first Shrek that rivals Pixar in it's depth. Also it's genuinely funny and the fight scenes certainly live up to the first one and then some. Judging by what Bob just said, while Cars 2 may have more going for it than the first one, on this rare occasion your money should be going to Dreamworks in my opinion.

ok sorry but cars was a good movie. But really, how the fuck can a 20+ year old person critique a movie made for kids and then ***** about a lack of character development?? ffs its a kids movie. I bet if 'the never ending story' came out right now it would get ripped to shreads by Bob.
There is no reason i would watch it now but when i was a kid i went to see it 3 times at the movies because... ITS A FUCKING KIDS FILM..
I'm so sick of movie critics getting all high and mighty about films that were NEVER directed at them in the first place.

Bob i realy love your work btw, keep it up

Great review as always, but... isn't it "in memoriam"?

Am I the only one who noticed he spelled "In Memoriam" wrong?
Totally this. If you got to show a latin word for ten second at the beginning of your show, you better double check that.

It's not a kids film. There is a huge difference between kiddy and fun for the whole family. This isn't something like Little Bear or Barney that just tries to teach a quick, slightly entertaining lesson about always brushing your teeth or not tinkling in the ocean.

I think he was saying there was a lack of character development, which is a surprise from Pixar. Most of their other films do have some great characters and get the audience to relate to that.

I totally get where you're coming from, but I just don't think that was really the issue at hand here.

I hate explaining jokes but this is what I got fro the "Jaguar" thing.

Jaguar is a big cat. Another big cat is a Cougar.

Implying she is a Cougar by making her a Jaguar car.

Not that funny I know but that's what I think it is.
If they were impling that she's a "cougar" why didn't they just make har a cougar?

They needed a foreign car.
Also a Jaguar is a british car, and she is a british car.

I actually remember If Looks Could Kill. Though the only thing I remember is that I saw it once. Couldn't tell you anything else about it.

Strange how the "worst" Pixar movie is still fun to watch and amazing in the visuals. I'm going to see it cause I kind of have a kid.
I liken a phrase like "the worst Pixar movie I've ever seen" to "the worst luxury cruise vacation I've ever taken". Even the "worst", comparatively speaking, is pretty darn good.

Actually, not entirely true anymore; Jaguar's owned by Tata Motors now, so they're actually Indian. And before that they were (blasphemy!) American (owned by Ford).

That has no bearing on the movie whatsoever, it's just me being insufferably Yahtzee-ish. Please feel free to ignore.

A new Toy Story short? That's almost enough for me to go see it. I'm not because I hated Mater from the first one and having him as the main now sounds like one of my levels of hell.

Also "Planes" seriously?

Anyone who has taken a road trip across America understands why the first Cars was great. I hope this one is excellent as well (obviously in a different way).

T-Toy Story? Did he just say something about Toy Story? [Grabs jacket and runs to the Cinema]

OT: I never saw the first Cars. I always thought The Incredibles was the worst Pixar film?

Cars 2?

The movie is obviously quite darn terrible. It currently has a 38 percent on Rotten Tomatoes which is rotten to say the least. Can't say im surprised though.

I remember "If Looks Could Kill" and actually beat you to the joke refrence. I still kinda like it in that "I'ts fully aware of what it is" kind of way.

Wouldn't this be more like the third because they also did that direct to DVD movie set-up for the old Buzz Lightyear cartoon.

You know, given Pixar's usual fair and the profit driven nature of the film industry today, I don't know that I mind so much if Pixar makes a clear cash grab as long as they use the cash they grab to make their next film that much more awesome. And it seems like they're doing the best they can with what it is; that counts for something with me.
I still won't go see it because I really didn't care for the first one, but I'm not going to hold this one against Pixar or get mad at anyone who does go see it.

I never thought of Cars as being an appeal to Nascar. I thought of it as being essentially the same as the opening sequences to Toy Story, where the toys are living out the fantasy world of the kid.

To me, the whole movie (and I would guess Cars 2, which I have not seen yet) seemed more like the kind of adventure you have with toy cars on your floor and Hotwheels track than an actual world populated by Cars. It's about living out those childhood fantasy adventures, not "what if everything were cars?"

But she has no other characteristics of a Cougar. She's not voiced by an older actress, but a young one. If they had gotten Diana Rigg or Judy Dench to do it, I'd totally buy it. But not Emily Mortimer and not with a character who is portrayed as being young as well. There really is no connection here.

Probably jsut that Jaguar's are sexy cars. Although that said, she is 39 so that's about Cougar age, right?
