Wow, Tenchi Muyen, that brings back memories...

anyway, back on topic, how the hell is Fox still getting casted for movies?

Are there really that many people who go see her movies just because she's "Hot"
She's good looking, yes, but I have seen hotter.

ugh, hopefully this movie bombs so we can get onto better movies.

Didn't they come out and say that this movie was supposed to be shit? Like, they weren't taking it seriously at all? I don't know, maybe I'm just imagining things. I still would like to see this just to get a good laugh. Probably a rent. Unless someone pays for my ticket.
I think that was Transformers 2.

Megan Fox is too bony for my tastes. She looks like a furless llama. And Transformers would have been great without her and Shia LaDouche.

Who couldn't see this one coming?

And FYI, Scarlet Johanson is in the same boat when it comes to hot shallow actresses.

The premise of this movie is doomed regardless of Megan Fox. If you sacrifice a non-virgin, they don't turn into a monster you just get no results.

Funny, I actually enjoyed that movie. Too bad I haven't bought into the bandwagon of hating it like everyone else.

Great review, Bob. I grinned like the Cheshire Cat most of the time! ;)

What I somehow expected was the (inevitable) comparison to Wild Things which also tried to cash in on the sexiness of two rather bimbo-ish actresses (and, yes, I count Neve Campbell to that very same category as well). While being the superior film in every other aspect, Jennifer's Body pretty much tries to reach the same audience.

THE ZAR.

I'm honestly surprised you didn't get to the Transformers stab sooner seeing as you despise those movies with all your soul.
As for the whole "hot as a bonus" thing, I understand what you mean, but I personally prefer it when such a feature isn't needed. Devon Aoki looks great in her own way, in the kind of way that wouldn't be improved in any way by a nude shot, shoehorned or not.

The movie itself... well, it just sounds stupid, like you said. Plus, I never understood the concept of virginity being equal to purity, though that said it's quite amusing to hear that the sacrifice backfires because their subject wasn't a virgin. Like the writers were secretly taking the piss or something.

As for "the 90's sucked", well, have the "naughties" really been particularly good?

I've never seen what the big deal is about Megan Fox either. She has a nice body, but that's about all she has going for her in my opinion.

Thank you, MovieBob. God, I am so sick of Fox. I really hope she is on the last of her 15 minutes of fame because the sooner I can avoid going to see her films, the better.

Oh, and THANK YOU AGAIN. I thought I was the only person that couldn't sit through Mallrats and thought it was terrible. Knowing I am not alone is nice.

As for the island, I agree, there were giant holes in the plot and atrocious product placement, and it was derivative from THX 1138. However, it wasn't a purely BAD movie in my opinion. The basic ideas were interesting, the art direction was good, the actors were good (at least as far as I remember) and there were a few interesting plot twists even if they seemed a bit cliché, and it wasn't badly shot (but in a very conventionnal way most of the time).
The Island has the achievement of being pretty much the only movie where I felt insulted by bad Science.

Seriously, I usually love bad science, particularly of my area of work. Heck, I loved the DOOM movie partly because of how bad the science was.
However, The Island not only has bad science but it tried to take a moral out of it. It annoyed me greatly that the movie gave a "cloning is bad" message while blatantly knowing nothing about it. And since the movie is unremarkable at best it makes it very hard to forgive that kind of pretentiousness.
Admittedly I may be mistaken, since I only saw the movie once and I had stopped being a MIchael Bay fan long before that. But it honestly gave me that impression.

I didn't really like it.

But, it most definently was not the fire and brimstone hell everyone made it out to be.

Kudos on the use of spoiler tags, but seriously, the content of said tags couldn't be more wrong if it was Goatse.

...I find it amusing that most of the comments say "I thought I was the only one that didn't see the big deal about Megan Fox". Maybe it's actually the minority that goes crazy over her?

I've always tried not to talk about Juno too much because there was a lot of focus on Diablo Cody's backstory and her looks to the extent that it felt like some kind of weird sexism to even talk about the movie. (plus, to be fair, the acting was spectacular all around)

But now that her second movie sucks, I feel a bit more comfortable in trying to figure out what the hell was up with Juno? Yeah, the dialogue was crisp, but man did I have problems with that movie.

Jennifer Garner was supposed to be long-suffering and sympathetic, instead she seemed controlling and kind of awful. I kept thinking about how that kid is going to grow up and not be exactly what she wants him to be, and won't that be fun. Her husbands character was just sad and pathetic and the come-on to Juno was painfully unbelievable.

There's more, but I won't go into it, because plot and characters aside, there's one thing that bugged the hell out of me in this movie, and that was it's musical sensibility.

First of all, nice that you keep throwing off punk rock references, but then about half the goddamn movie played like a hipster folk band music video. About the third time we were supposed to listen to some ethereal plunking over a slow pan for no goddamn reason I was pretty much ready to bail.

And then Juno casually tosses off that her fave bands are I think, the Blackhearts and The Stooges. But then 10 minutes later she hasn't heard of Sonic Youth? Oh, that's likely. Plus they pull the Sonic Youth Carpenters cover and then talk about them like they're some band that only makes sad beautiful music unlike the loud, rude Stooges? That's uh, insane. And then, the husbands character, after dissing the founders of punk rock talks about opening for the Melvins? I don't know if you've ever been to a Melvins show, but usually the bands the get to open for them make Sonic Youth sound like goddamn Bert Bacharach.

Oh well, I hope Diablo Cody makes a zillion dollars, because I might get bugged by her, but she's still a million times better than Micheal Bay.

I think it's the minority of people who post on videogame boards. That's probably not a huge crossover with the Megan Fox fanbase. I'm assuming there's not a ton of people here who are hanging maxim pages on their gym locker.

The turnaround there is kind of the "point" of Juno's character: She starts out liking the husband because he's very youth-culture obsessed and has his little room with all the "cool" band stuff in it and despising Garner because she's a stodgy, "Type-A" grownup. Then, in-order, she comes to understand that Garner is actually a good person (the scene in the mall) despite being the opposite of Juno's definition of "cool;" and that the "cool" stuff about the husband ought've identified him as a developmentally-arrested creep sooner. It's about Juno getting smacked in the face by her notions of what constitutes "good" adulthood blow up all around her.
