To all of you asking about Battlefield LA, maybe there wasn't an advance screening? These videos need to be made ahead of time and Bob pointed out in his other show that movies that don't think they'll do well (and most horror movies) tend to not have advance screenings for critics.

I honestly did NOT expect this movie to be any good. The way Bob presented it made me interested. Might give it a try (and pot may or may not be involved... just sayin').

Ah, thank you for taking the time to give a detailed answer. I was kind of originally reading your first post as "If you're x-amount of picky, you're being a jerk of an elitist" or something to that effect.

But you're *really* talking about the tools of literature - so we're on the same page and therefore I agree.
Naw, I'm tremendously picky in my tastes, but the thing is, I know that that's just my tastes. Just because I don't like something, doesn't mean it can't be good and my entire academic career has basically been a crusade against the elitism that says only certain things are allowed to be considered art.
My definition of art? Anything created by humans which provokes a genuine emotional reaction from people in a meaningful way.

Indeed. I don't know that I'll personally like RRH, or even think that it's a good film, but the fact that they're trying to do something out of the ordinary is at least something to applaud.

Probably one I'm going to skip. I don't watch that many movies, so I prefer to focus on the actual masterpieces instead of the once that are nearly masterpieces if you consider the demographic it is for.

Also: Less than two weeks until 3DS release. Yay!

Awh, man, I was hoping for a review of Battle: LA.
I'm surprised too. I thought he loved alien movies, though the camera does do the Michael bay thing where it's always jerking around on it's 50th red bull

It looks quite interesting actually.

From what I've seen in this review, Its not what I was expecting.

Like for example: the granny was never mentioned :p

Movie looks awful. I think Bob is reading too much into this film.
I think Bob is making stuff up because he couldn't fill an entire review with: "I liked it because I got to stare at Amanda Seyfried for an hour and a half".

But that's just what I'm thinking here. ;)

I just saw this movie today, and was pleasantly surprised, I said out loud "Wow, they actually managed to make a werewolf romance movie that DOESN'T suck!" I also totally saw the similarities to Sleepy Hollow, a movie that I loved too.

Expecting that, I was not.

I have one rule regarding theatrically-released movies: every movie gets a chance. Unless something happens (sickness, financial or scheduling issues, laziness), I will attempt to watch, and give a fair chance to, every movie playing at my local mega-plex. For instance, I saw the Bieber film a few weeks ago and didn't hate it. I will be seeing this film sometime this week. Here's hoping I see whatever Mr. Chipman saw in this film and enjoy it enough to give it a respectable rating.

Looks like a heavily diluted version of Company of Wolves, although I can see how it might be camp fun. Well said about 300 too, I think anyone who wants to claim 300 is not camp needs to get a reality check. Come to think of it, Sin City... Robert Rodriguez is kinda camp, Planet Terror, Machete, Spy Kids...
Also anything by Zack Snyder- literally anything, Zack Snyder is the new Joel Schumacher.

I think I might just have to go see this because it has Gary Oldman in it... I mean, it's Gary Oldman for crying out loud! He's awesome!
You do have to give that man creds. No matter how bad the movie is that he's in, no matter how silly the premise or bad the script, he is always acting the hell out of his role and giving 110%. I have a lot of respect for him.

I still can't fathom why this guy thinks abstinence is a bad thing...is he trying to eliminate all possible obstacles that prevent him from getting laid or something?

Let me get this straight... Movie Bob liked this piece of junk but spewed pretty much nothing but hate for hate for Rango? Am I missing something here?

Last week he said people should go see Drive Angry just because it has Nicholas Cage escaping from hell with a magic shotgun (ooo, how creative), and at one point he is killing, screwing and pounding back Jack at the same time. No, moviebob... just no.

I can't take these reviews seriously anymore.

Most certainly; I mean he's been Dracula, Sirius Black, Commissioner Gordon, SO many characters. SO good.
