Can someone tell me what the English title for that flick shown at 03:57? I swear I can't remember it for the life of me.

Saw the movie yesterday, or at least I think I did, I remember uncomfortable glasses and a an advert for 3D where they kept chucking stuff a me. I probably watched it and just forgot it ever existed.

Saw it yesterday and quite enjoyed it.

Seth Rogen's Britt Reid is largely unlikable but does grow over the course of the film. I actually appreciate the fact, however, that he doesn't totally change he just becomes a bit less of an ass. I know it's a "comic book" movie but it's still more believable that way.

Jay Chou does a very good job at Kato and I like how the movie is focused on his character really being everything in the operation but the money. If nothing else, it's how everyone (or at least me, anyway) remembers the television show. You watched it to see Bruce Lee be cool and kick ass, not to see to see The Green Hornet. I would have been nice to see them play up his language barrier more but on the same hand it was nice they didn't just fall back on that as a lame obvious joke.

Cameron Diaz has no place in the movie.. at all. And I'm not just saying that because I don't really care for her. She adds nothing to the minor character she's given and doesn't even bring the eye candy factor. Plus, she really is starting to look "old" (which is played up rather uncomfortably in one scene). Waste of what was probably a decent chunk of change to get her to sign on.

The action was pretty cool and really did have a nice campy feel to it as a throwback to the old television show. The villain was entertaining but really didn't fill up the screen at all, particularly given that he was given a fair amount of screen time. I didn't see it in 3D and I don't see why anyone would. There's a couple of scenes that would be decent in 3D but I'm glad I didn't have to pay the BS $5 3D tax. Oh, and I don't really geek out much but the throwback to the old television show intro near the end of the movie was great.

Overall, yeah, it's a pleasant and enjoyable movie that's well worth seeing especially if you do have any sort of emotional tie to the old television show. You might remember it a year from now but you almost definitely won't be placing a pre-order to buy the DVD as soon as it hits the shelf. And, if you do go see it, do what you can to avoid paying the 3D tax on this one.. as usual with 3D, there's no reason 3D got anywhere near this movie.

Yeah, this franchise has had an interesting history.

The problem i have with this movie is that it takes so so so many things from recent superhero movies.

Origin Story: Iron Man

Newspaper Angle: Superman

Jokes: Spider Man 1 & 2

Stylish Cars: Kick-Ass

Gangsters: Kick-Ass (Again)

I don't have a problem with homages but this movie offers very little in return. It won't hurt anyone to see it, but there are so much better superhero movies out there. It's over a decade late to its own party.

There are some interesting action scenes and good visual touches but i don't recommend it.

COSMIC CUBE FTW!
Even Bob said, this I don't see the coorilation to Iron Man origin story at all. Tony Stark was rich, but he worked and sold weapons, his Dad's death didn't change him to a "superhero". Newspaper? Clark was a "reporter", Seth owned one and it became a weapon for him in the communication, Clark never used the paper. Stylish Cars, thats pretty much any cool movie, I mean Bullit was a coolcar, plus Green Hornet was around before any of these movies, concepts, except a few years early Superman came out.

Could have been better. but its ok..

I'll keep saying it till I'm blue in the face: Kevin Smith should have written the script/screenplay for this movie. I have to say that his new take on Green Hornet right now using Britt's son and Kato's daughter is fantastic! Shame that this movie ended up being forgettable. I didn't have much faith in the movie when they said that Gondry was directing. Be Kind Rewind was ok, and I never liked any of his other movies.

Well, "not terrible, but not memorable" is pretty much what I was expecting. Since I rarely see more than 2 movies a year, it should be more memorable for me.

Ooh, I could have gone for that, especially since Smith's "Batman Cachophony" was so funny.

This raises a very important question: can I buy only the second half of a movie on DVD?

I can overlook a lot of this movie as blind cheese while summing up everything I hated in two words: Seth Rogan. Bumbling and clueless are one thing, I was wondering how this guy dressed himself in the moring. Dial it down a few notches.

That, and the writers did seem to try and emulate somthing of Kevin Smith: the excessive gay jokes and inuendo.

I saw this last Friday (without having watched this, since I needed the benefit of being unbias).

Honestly, the only good parts of the movie involve the cars. I liked those.
That's it really. I hated most of Rogan's performance; they downplayed the importance of the Green Hornet's character in favor of sucking off Kaito at every turn.

I know he's supposed to be the "sidekick who kicks more ass than the protagonist", but it's really disconcerting when the star of your movie comes across as nothing more than a useless braying jackass in every single scene and then the movie sets his partner up as being so awesome that you could easily delete the protagonist and lose NOTHING.

We spend so little time with his father that when the time comes to avenge his death, it doesn't have any weight behind it.
I love flawed characters. It's why I enjoyed reading the Iron Man comics my dad had around.
But I love flawed characters because of the story arc potential. Perfect "good guy" characters only work if they're meant to fall ala tragedy, or if the story isn't specifically about them.
Rogan learned that his father wasn't a total prick, but we never really see a change in his character as a result of this.

Everyone else though, I had fun with to a degree. Cameron Diaz could have made a quirky "Alfred" equivalent towards the end if they just dropped that stupid romance cock-contest.
Really, I can imagine a number of ways to make this movie better, and it wouldn't take all that many changes apart from recasting the leads.

In any case, only go if you love car scenes, because if you enjoyed other recent super hero movies (especially Iron Man), then you will probably leave feeling a bit cheated.

funny thing, here in MX the green hornet was BIG, and i mean HUGE, it aired around the time color TV´s started to become more available for regular people, and so it was the show everyone watched, hell, i was a fan as a kid and loved the character to bits, my brother had the mask and the hat, we played him being the Green Hornet and i was Cato (big brother/small brother thing)

oh! just so you know, "Get Smart" and "The Green Hornet" started airing here in MX in the late 80´s, i was born on 85, and my brother was born on 82, just so you know why i would be liking them

Rock N Rolla.

Also known as the fourth best Guy Ritchie movie.

Here's the thing -

The Green Hornet is about a news media mogul who pretends to be a criminal at night to frighten other criminals. Basically, William Randolph Hearst and Jesse James rolled into one - only he's the good guy. Oh, and he uses his paper to create and disguise his identity.

In the era of Wikileaks, Fox News, and the death of the investigative reporter and the rise of the citizen journalist - there isn't a good story there?! Really?

I found the movie to be passable, but in a good way. I saw the initial review scores and my expectations got pretty low, so when I actually saw it, It was better than I expected by a long-shot. While Rogan's character is mostly useless throughout the movie, he does have a pretty cool redeeming moment at the end, and watching Kato kick ass and blow shit up makes it entertaining. I would rank this about on the level of Evolution. You don't go into it expecting a great movie, and you get a fairly good one.

I had no interest in seeing this movie whatsoever. Glad to hear I wont be missing much.

Anyone else getting really tired of Seth Rogen? It's like every 2 years there needs to be some obnoxious comedy lead who does a slew of movies with his same 5 buddies that get progressively worse. Seth Rogen has replaced Will Ferrel in that capacity now.

Speaking of Robert Downey Jr, did anyone see his "best actress" introduction at the Golden Globes? LOL
Yeah, Seth Rogen ain't got NOTHING on him.

As for the movie, well it wasn't horrible but I kinda liked it. Aside from Cameron Diaz, she had no business being in this movie but the parts with Seth Rogen and Jay Chou were pretty funny to me. It was over the top fun which was a break from True Grit (huge letdown but still good)
