Looks like a really interesting movie, can't wait to see it, but Bob those felt like too spoilery flashes of the movie, specially the last one.
The clips are from the trailer, so I don't think you need to worry about it.
Oh, cool. Then it's ok, still feels spoilery :p
Yeah, it does have a spoilery feel to it...

One piece of advice if you're going to watch the movie though: Don't go in expecting a horror movie. In my opinion it was more of a comedy. I certainly know the audience was laughing a lot when I watched it, though I don't know how well some of the jokes'll translate into English.
For example, around the time of the film's release there was this huge debate going on in Norway: The governement wanted to build some powerlines across the Hardanger fjord, which is considered a piece of natural heritage, so they do make some quips about that.

Man, this movie was a big deal over here when it came out. A great watch and it's awesome to see Bob giving it the recognition it, in my opinion, deserves.

This entire review made me shiver with national pride. Go Norway!

Having seen the movie twice in theaters here, I would definitely recommend seeing the Troll Hunter. It even works as a showcase for some beautiful Norwegian scenery, well recognizable for anyone who happens to be well-traveled in the mountainous areas of Norway. (Though those might be a rare breed in the States.)

Mockumentaries are never horror movies, that's obvious. I see it more like an adventure kind, not sure were to put it really.

Good then.
I got the impression that some people watched it expecting a horror flick, and came disappointed out of it.

I don't know how they expected to it be an horror movie, even with more horror leaded movies like blair with project and the other one of the monster, I never felt scared or anything, it lacks something, maybe it's just the shaking camera that kills it, this one looks more stable camera.

Never saw the blair witch project or cloverfield, actually...

Yeah, the camera is kept steady for the most part when they're not running around in the forest.

I think I know most of blair witch through jokes and alike, finally decided to watch it and confirm how bad it was, cloverfield was kinda interesting, but at the same time got boring fast.

Hm...
Guess I won't bother to watch those then.

I'd say the troll hunter handles that aspect well in any case. It gets more exciting as it goes, or at least so I thought.

Totally agree with this review. Easily my favorite Norwegian movie, perhaps only behind the classic Flåklypa grand prix:p
Well, to be honest - there is a reason for the term "it`s not bad, for being norwegian". Weird really, how the danes have made so many more good films than us.
Aside from Troll Hunter and Flåklypa, what else have actually been good? Yeah, Max Manus wasn`t half bad, and I guess Døden på Oslo S and the Elling-movies qualify as good. Other than that, it`s all psychological wallabazoo-drama, crap with the latest cupcakebabe with boobs but w/o any originality whatsoever, or regional remakes of 80`s slasher films. Or even worse, Wam & Wennerød.
Also i really enjoyed dead snow and most of Ivo Caprino's work in addition to the other movies you mentioned. You're right tho, theres lots of shit movies made here, but all the better when something really good comes out:)

Good luck with that then. I only hope the subtitles are better than the stuff I looked up...

Seriously, I don't know if what I've been looking at are the official subtitles, but they are really poor.

What?...
WHAT?????
What the ########################...
WHAT???

People, you have no clue how incredibly weird this is.
I expect a vague acknowledgement of Norway as being something along the lines of
1) fjords. Ah the place with the fjords.
2)Far to the north.
and potentially: the rich heathens.

That's it. No mention of actual norwegians, no particular knowledge of our coastal mountain-range up north.

So to hear Bob say names like Otto Jespersen, or talk about norwegian folk-lore or...GAH

My mind. It is blown.

Also, yes the movie is pretty good.

I've been wanting to see this movie. With any luck I'll be able to find a theatre playing it or pick up a DVD. Plus it's always nice to expand my library of foreign films.
