The funny thing is that no matter how conservative Fox News is, ultimately it is run by Rupert Murdoch, the same man who runs the Sun (and anyone who is aware of the infamous Page 3 will understand the hilarity in that.)

I'm not political at all. I watch the Daily Show and Colbert Report because they are both highly entertaining and informative. However, all the times they've called out Fox on their hypocrisy and lies (for the record: a lot of f*cking times) have really soured my opinion on something I otherwise wouldn't care about... not that it's a bad thing. Here's an example:

They are biased just like every other news station out there, so why should they be any different? I don't care for their political commentary because I don't care for who they have on, especially Bill O, and I know they have their own agenda so I'd rather not listen to that. I will say though, I will watch Shepard Smith since his comments are hilarious.

Fox Broadcasting Company (which produces Fox News) is owned by News Corp, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch, who has repeatedly proven that truth, integrity, and anyone who isn't him are perfectly acceptable casualties in his efforts to influence the world to bend to his particular mindset.

Considering the Islamophobia that Fox News seems to enjoy broadcasting, I wonder how many of its adherents are aware that a major (7%) stockholder of News Corp is a Saudi prince?
Yay!! You Rock Woo Hoo!! Finally someone says it (and we've had commenters from Europe that didn't get that fer chrissake!) News Corp is also currently under a bunch of different investigations for hacking someones cell phone trying to get stories. I guess they are really that desperate. He also has made no secret of trying to create a dynasty, something that the shareholders (thankfully) would quite rather not see happen. Maybe that Prince being one of those shareholders will change things once Rupert is gone. It's unclear (unproven, more like) whether Murdoch knew about the hacking but it's quite clear that he supported and encouraged such behavior. That's why there are so many investigations currently ongoing, the more they give the Murdoch empire a face peel, the more they find.

I had no idea about the Saudi Prince being a major shareholder. I've just always been confused that the channel that runs "family values" up it's flagpole with such alarming regularity and frequency would also be responsible for some of the "entertainment" produced by FOX. I guess integrity is just fine, when it pays.

Also everyone is saying that all media is corrupt. I would like someone to actually site a source where C-SPAN has been responsible for unresponsible journalism or sensationalism. Or even having a personality at all. Since I know from experience that while they are the source of many "scoops" they are about as guilty of bias as they are of keeping me awake all the way through Washington Journal. Sorry it just doesn't happen.

C-SPAN may not be fun, but they are honest. Edward R. Murrow would be proud....

Okay, I'm gonna have to jump on this and, without boasting, I'd say that as British I'm probably one of the better-qualified to do so.

The phone hacking story is thus: The News of the World is an (incredibly shit, but popular) newspaper run by News Corp in Britain. It is effectively the Sunday edition of The Sun (even more popular, just as shit). For a long, long, long time people have been trying to prove that The News of the World has been hacking peoples voice-mail and paying the police in order to get stories.

It was proved that News of the World had indeed done this and rather than go through a (presumably) lengthy court case, News Corp shut down News of the World instead. As a result of this, other News Corp newspapers are being checked for corruption, and the public is turning (even more so) against Murdoch (this includes the government, who pressured him into not attempting to by BSkyB.)

What you said wasn't very wrong, but I'm a picky bastard so I'll just mention:
It wasn't "someones cellphone" it was the voicemail of pretty damn near everyone mentioned in the news. The parents of kidnap victims and war widows had their voicemails hacked. Most celebrities and politicians also were victims. Police were also bribed to give stories which breaks so many laws, my god.

And they weren't desperate for stories either, think of a single day a (respected and non-corrupt) newspaper/news station has been light on stories. No, the reason is that the stories they find through hacking are bloody good stories. Who cares about the latest debates in government when Joe Blog MP for Stornoway is having a gay love affair! ect. ect.
And imagine the stories that would run if a single war veteran made a joke about compensation from the army (War Veterans are all Gold-mining whores! For example).

There, done being pedantic and generally grumpy. Continue.

I have no feelings for Fox News one way or the other. Yeah, they're biased and report on stupid irrelevant shit instead of what's important. Yeah, they're reporting twists the facts and occasionally reports outright lies. The problem is that I just described basically every news source available, including most on the internet. Just sift through the BS and use your own judgement and you'll find the important stuff.
The BBC reports fact, because its payed forr by the public and has no agenda

Of course the ME situation, along with how they criticize everything without doing research, they give half the story on everything, and they don't really give actual news.

They ran a story saying that Mass Effect was basically a next-gen version of Custer's Revenge, i.e. almost nothing but pornographic content.

Their source on this? Somebody who had never played the game, and found the notion that she should have absurd.

Many people didn't like this.

I had to concentrate very hard not to try and punch that woman through my computer screen. It took A LOT of self control.

They're just trolls. Not much else to it.

I don't have a problem with Fox. Actually, I like Fox, for the same reason I like the Westboro Baptist Church. Everyone I ever talk to seems to want it to be illegal for them to do what they do, yet it's not, which is important because it shows me that, however much people may hate a group, they still have the right to free speech, and that's important.

However, I do have a problem with the people who take Fox News seriously. When a news station is about as accurate as the Onion, and people still believe them, that doesn't really say good things about society.

Well, besides the fact that they don't even try to hide the fact that they're bias, we got there stance on gaming as art, while being supported by no hard facts, which caused lead to the cancellation of 6 Days in Fallujah game and constantly demean the medium. Also, for one local Fox News shows, what they said about bronies. For any other reasons, just go watch them, or The Daily Show or Colbert Report.

Well for one I am left wing so theres that but the fact of the matter is they tell such blatant lies. If you have a different opinion then mine but state truths and actual reasons why you do so I will respect your opinion. If you have a different opinion then mine but make up false reasons and facts as to why I will lambast you.

No, but seriously, I like to think the BBC is as close as the world will get to the GREATEST THIN...I MEAN NEWSGROUP EVER!
Much as I like them, the BBC are still utter shites at times - and love to lay the boot in.

They may not lie like Fox, but they definitely enjoy sensation.

This just in: Fox is worse than I had thought by several levels of magnitude. Also a Brittish person is Picky, Pedantic, and Generally grumpy, yet still very well informed and correct.

In other news, more and more captcha's are turning into ads that you ingrain into your subconscious for the advertisers and this still sucks.

Film at eleven.

The six days on falujah(hope that's spelled correctly) thing was horrid. Saying Mass Effect is a "porn simulator" is just stupid.

Being dutch I dont have to deal with Fox News like Americans. However there was this instance that mr O Reilly claimed that Amsterdam was a cesspool of criminal activity etc for tolerating drug use and prostitution.

As a reaction to this completly unfounded claim 2 dutch woman went on debate with him and presented the actual numbers (really, Amsterdam is quite cool), after which Bill insisted that

"Percentages work diffrent for a small country like the Netherlands"

People this dumb should not be allowed to be on tv, and if ANY news station would behave like Fox in West or North Europe, they'd either be tongue in cheek or pulled of the air after their second day.

If you didn't like the misleading or slanted view FOX had of bronies then I'd stay well clear of NPR as well (I usually do these days as a rule anyway.) They are no better than FOX. In fact, on the Brony topic, they were far worse.

No. They ran a story in which a third party said that. If you would take the blinders off and actually watch the segment, you would see that both sides got a chance to speak, and the general consensus came out to "parents need to do the research, and decide what is brought into their homes." Maybe I'm old fashioned, but when, exactly, did advocating proper parenting become taboo?

News is interesting, despite the fact it's not supposed to be, it's actually a debate. In a debate, there are three parts, the pathos(who you are as a debater), the ethos(the emotional aspect of your argument), and the logos(the facts behind your point of view(rationality)). Fox news is pretty fantastic with the ethos, but they destroy their credibility by by lacking any actual evidence to support their rationality. What's to love? Not much. Fox news is super right wing, it's true. The only difference between them and say MSNBC, is that MSNBC is super left wing. Either way, the same problem occurs, they often times are short of facts just as much as Fox. Then the only thing people identify with when it comes to chosen news source, is the pathos. If you are a right winger, you believe Fox, if you are a left winger, you believe MSNBC.

But, the thing that makes me hate Fox news is the trifecta of bad personalities. Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, and Rush Limbaugh. These guys are sick, though I do have to appreciate O'Reilly's innate ability to piss anyone off. He is just so smug in his wrongness.

I have no problem with Fox News being biased for right wing.
Other networks have a left bias so more power to them.

I have no problem with some their stars acting like crazy people and being rude to their guests.
I've seen worse on reality TV.

My problem is that they do this AND claim to be 'fair and balanced.'
