Yay!! You Rock Woo Hoo!! Finally someone says it (and we've had commenters from Europe that didn't get that fer chrissake!) News Corp is also currently under a bunch of different investigations for hacking someones cell phone trying to get stories. I guess they are really that desperate. He also has made no secret of trying to create a dynasty, something that the shareholders (thankfully) would quite rather not see happen. Maybe that Prince being one of those shareholders will change things once Rupert is gone. It's unclear (unproven, more like) whether Murdoch knew about the hacking but it's quite clear that he supported and encouraged such behavior. That's why there are so many investigations currently ongoing, the more they give the Murdoch empire a face peel, the more they find. The Rogue Wolf said:Fox Broadcasting Company (which produces Fox News) is owned by News Corp, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch, who has repeatedly proven that truth, integrity, and anyone who isn't him are perfectly acceptable casualties in his efforts to influence the world to bend to his particular mindset.
Considering the Islamophobia that Fox News seems to enjoy broadcasting, I wonder how many of its adherents are aware that a major (7%) stockholder of News Corp is a Saudi prince?
Okay, I'm gonna have to jump on this and, without boasting, I'd say that as British I'm probably one of the better-qualified to do so.mikev7.0 said:Yay!! You Rock Woo Hoo!! The BBC reports fact, because its payed forr by the public and has no agendaspartan231490 said:I have no feelings for Fox News one way or the other. Yeah, they're biased and report on stupid irrelevant shit instead of what's important. Yeah, they're reporting twists the facts and occasionally reports outright lies. The problem is that I just described basically every news source available, including most on the internet. Just sift through the BS and use your own judgement and you'll find the important stuff.

Much as I like them, the BBC are still utter shites at times - and love to lay the boot in.orangeban said:*cough*BBCisthebestnewsgroupever*cough*
No, but seriously, I like to think the BBC is as close as the world will get to the GREATEST THIN...I MEAN NEWSGROUP EVER!
This just in: Fox is worse than I had thought by several levels of magnitude. Also a Brittish person is Picky, Pedantic, and Generally grumpy, yet still very well informed and correct.orangeban said:Okay, I'm gonna have to jump on this and, without boasting, I'd say that as British I'm probably one of the better-qualified to do so.mikev7.0 said:Yay!! The phone hacking story is thus: The News of the World is an (incredibly shit, but popular) newspaper run by News Corp in Britain. It is effectively the Sunday edition of The Sun (even more popular, just as shit). For a long, long, long time people have been trying to prove that The News of the World has been hacking peoples voice-mail and paying the police in order to get stories.
It was proved that News of the World had indeed done this and rather than go through a (presumably) lengthy court case, News Corp shut down News of the World instead. As a result of this, other News Corp newspapers are being checked for corruption, and the public is turning (even more so) against Murdoch (this includes the government, who pressured him into not attempting to by BSkyB.)
What you said wasn't very wrong, but I'm a picky bastard so I'll just mention:
It wasn't "someones cellphone" it was the voicemail of pretty damn near everyone mentioned in the news. The parents of kidnap victims and war widows had their voicemails hacked. Most celebrities and politicians also were victims. Police were also bribed to give stories which breaks so many laws, my god.
And they weren't desperate for stories either, think of a single day a (respected and non-corrupt) newspaper/news station has been light on stories. No, the reason is that the stories they find through hacking are bloody good stories. Who cares about the latest debates in government when Joe Blog MP for Stornoway is having a gay love affair! ect. ect.
And imagine the stories that would run if a single war veteran made a joke about compensation from the army (War Veterans are all Gold-mining whores! For example).
There, done being pedantic and generally grumpy. Continue.
If you didn't like the misleading or slanted view FOX had of bronies then I'd stay well clear of NPR as well (I usually do these days as a rule anyway.) They are no better than FOX. In fact, on the Brony topic, they were far worse.Tucker154 said:Well, besides the fact that they don't even try to hide the fact that they're bias, we got there stance on gaming as art, while being supported by no hard facts, which caused lead to the cancellation of 6 Days in Fallujah game and constantly demean the medium. Also, for one local Fox News shows, what they said about bronies. For any other reasons, just go watch them, or The Daily Show or Colbert Report.
No. They ran a story in which a third party said that. If you would take the blinders off and actually watch the segment, you would see that both sides got a chance to speak, and the general consensus came out to "parents need to do the research, and decide what is brought into their homes." Maybe I'm old fashioned, but when, exactly, did advocating proper parenting become taboo?Hal10k said:They ran a story saying that Mass Effect was basically a next-gen version of Custer's Revenge, i.e. almost nothing but pornographic content.yuval152 said:What happended with ME and fox news?o-o
