What is the point of Eurovision? I'm from the U.S..

All it really seems to be is some pointless contest between the European countries and some others (like Azerbaijan & Morocco. How do they count?).

I do apologize if I've insulted anyone with my opinion and/or ignorance, I'm just setting out what I view it as currently and hopefully someone will explain and/or correct me.

I watched a bit of the semi finals last night, and while some of it was catchy, it was ultimately not very good...still better than anything else that was on at 3am though

Most contests are ultimately pointless. That doesn't stop it being occasionally entertaining though.

Depends who you ask.

Some people see it as a chance for European countries to pit their best singers against eac other.

Some people see it as camp as a row of frilly tents and being FABulous.

Don't ask. It'd take far too long to explain. Same reasons the World Series is mostly American.

The World Series is mostly American as they did try to get people from other countries to join it but apparently nothing really came of it, and they didn't bother to change the name.

That would be awesome and I would watch, but it'd be better if they included all genres.

The biggest joke ever, not even considering the fact that it's all rigged. Unless you are from Eastern Europe, you barely have a shot at winning.

Like totally.. I mean.. Since 1990 East European countries have won 5 times.
Thats one more time than Ireland alone in the same time-span!
