His ratio was skyrocketing. The men and women of NERV could only watch in fear as the last pilot to enter his Eva had already caught up to the others. Whatever fueled him, they did not know. To an extent they did not care. All they knew was that he was strong. Strong in his determination. They did not care what he fought for. Only what he could do for them.
But he knew what he fought for. He fought for her, whether she wanted him to or not.

He hadn't spoken once at the meeting. He had been lost in thought. Still was. A feeling he had not felt in years.
Doubt.
He doubted himself. He doubted his own abilities. He doubted whether he was a worthy champion, if this was all it took to cripple him.

Mikhael finds himself shaken by the encounter in the hospital, and determines to fight even if he dies from it.
Pollux watched Piggy get forked. He'd figured Piggy was in shock but relatively okay. Suddenly, the the crystal spear had arced with electricity and violently exploded. Goddamn, this angel was strange and brutal. Honestly, Ohotorael was not what Pollux had expected. He'd planned on seeing a giant, complex, powerful being, not some overgrown sting ray. Yet, he had to admit, this overgrown stingray might have some moves on him.
"POLLUX! DO SOMETHING!"
That was his que. Time to see what he could do. Let's start simple.
"Hey, you yellow bastard!" Ohotorael rose above Piggy and began to take aim. "You're not the only one good with spears!"
Ohotorael inflated while morphing and fired multiple shots. Pollux felt Unit-31 waiting for a response, and Castor giving him a suggestion. He squeezed his eyes tight, opened them, and was gone in an instant. He dogged the first few shots, moving at incredible speed. It was like he was bouncing off his own A.T field and the fields around him. He was, in fact. He could see the A.T fields and now he could truly use them to his advantage. This was how his eva saw the world and truly fought. It was great. At this rate, Unit-31 almost look like it was skipping. Pollux pushed downwards on the A.T field, sending him skyward, above the angel. It wasn't getting over that barrier.
"Take this you bastard! Sonic-"
Unit-31 twisted it's arms as the two rods that formed the Sonic Guillotine rocketed out, causing them two start rotating at high speeds. Then a third rod rocketed out from Unit-31's chest. It headed straight for the angel.
"Blender!"
The two rods spun towards the ground, as the third was right above the angel. Pollux pushed his A.T field down at the angel, in the process, in an attempt at adding insult to injury. The destructive resonance of the spiraling blender caused a cyclone like sonic boom, destroying the foundation below the angel and kicking up a chaotic spiral of debris, buffering the angel even more. A flattened, spun around, assaulted angel. That must've done something. Pollux laughed at the destruction he'd caused. Now THAT was a tactic.
"Sushi, anyone?"
The two rods embedded themselves in the ground as Pollux landed. He was quite proud of himself. Piggy might have even let out a cheer. Though, it sounded more like a shou-
"POLLUX, MOVE!"
A barrage of spears came flying out of the clearing dust. Pollux pulled the A.T. fields towards his forearms, combining the two separate star patterns, forming Gemini constellation.
"Gemini Defen-"
The shield held for a few seconds, but it fractured and the shards of the spears arced for a few seconds before exploding. He was still new at this and the shield wasn't as think as it should've been. Pollux was sent flying back, the remaining fractals sprinkling him with pain. Unit-31 landed with a loud, painful thump.
When the dust finally cleared, the angel's A.T. field formed a halo above it. Within the halo was the third rod, simply floating there, slightly smashed at the end that should've pierced the angel. Ohotorael had taken a beating from the debris and resonance, but if it had done any actual damage, the angel didn't show it.
"Oh crap." Pollux got back up and cracked Unit-31's neck. "Alright, we'll just have to wear you down. That's alright though. I've still got plenty of things waiting for you."
Pollux test a few new moves, but Ohotorael is pretty powerful and deflects them.
A midnight-tinted form leaped up and into the fray. Rev charged headlong into battle, straight past Pollux, unaware of Piggy's warnings. He wasn't paying much attention to what they said. He attempted to swing his knives at the creature, but all it did was float up and away from him.
"Gr... BASTARD!"
With a leap, Rev flew up and at the beast. But as he flew, he was impaled. Four arrows, one in each limb, thrust themselves into the mechanical flesh of the Eva. Rev screamed in pain and shock as his beast crashed into the ground. He wanted to take a moment to rest, but another arrow pierced his abdomen. It came close to his plug. He cried out in surprise, and rolled. Unit-27 followed, and scrambled to its feet, dashing away as a hail of projectiles crashed into the ground around him.
This would not be simple. How had he ever thought anything could be so simple.
Rev tries his usual berserking tactic, only to be filled with arrows, forcing him to back off.
"Rev!" Pollux watched as Rev slashed at the beast in vain, and was quickly smacked back down. They were gonna need a plan, strategies, anything. Lisa wasn't there yet, her eva was still being prepped, Aiber was in the motions, and Addison was nowhere to be seen. "'Hurry up', she says." Alexander curses to himself. Rev rolls quickly and get back up.
"Okay, Rev. Your knives aren't gonna do much against this guy, nothing will do much against this guy unless we break down this defenses. And even then this may be a challenge. But listen, can you distract him for a bit? Piggy and I will flank him and we'll go from there. Can you do that?"
"I've got a plan too, hey uh..." Aiber realized he didn't know anyone accept the one who had brought him to the dock earlier.
Then out of nowhere, the Angel launched another rocket at him. Aiber and Charlie made a clean dive roll out of the way and rolled into a firing position behind a building. He drew the Hand Canon and shot at the angel three times, each time it his the enemy A.T. Field to no apparent affect.
"Your right about it's A.T. Field uh...Pollux."
Aiber holstered the Hand Canon and drew his spear. He rolled out of his previous hiding place and leaped behind a very sturdy looking concrete building, then concentrated his A.T. Field into a shield like the Angel's, but that wasn't all he did. He began rotating the spear around in a circular rotation, and as the speed of the spin went up, so did his sync with Charlie.
-----------------------------------------
"Sir!" one of the people in the control room said. "Aiber's sync rate is rising rapidly! And that's not all! He's using his A.T. Field to raise the oxygen concentration and density within his reach!"
"What is his sync rate at right now?"
"91% and counting!"
"What the hell are you doing kid?"
At that point the door opened and Colonel Blake stepped in. He was straight faced and professional as ever, even while watching his son in a life or death battle with an alien.
"He is making and artificial meteorite." he said plainly.
"What the hell dose that mean?!"
"He simulated it in the American facility before but never outside testing, so I'm not even fully sure how it will work out if at all." His tone of voice was still emotionless and calculating, like an exam proctors calling out the remaining time.
On the screen, the spear spun faster still and a visible whirlwind formed around it, like a tornado being contained by it's own velocity.
"I hope you know what you're doing Aiber." Blake said to his son.
-------------------------------------
"Shut the hell up dad!" Aiber yelled, then he got what he was waiting for, the building behind him took a direct hi from one of the Angel's spears and exploded, in that moment Aiber let the A.T. Field Barrier around him drop.
In one deft motion, he spun around and let the spear fly straight for the Angel. The wind current built up around made it fly faster than sound, and at the same time made a massive column of flame from the ignited oxygen. When it hit the Angel's A.T. Field, the fire roared outward and the spear made a massive impact, the shockwave of heat and wind could be felt for miles.
When the fire cleared and the dust settled, the Angel was unharmed, but it's A.T. Field was down at least for now.
"Shit, shit, shit, I'm behind..." Lisa was almost the last one to launch, but she heard the dire situation of her fellow pilots over her Eva's radio. Her sync rate skyrocketed as she formulated a plan in her head. Pollux was an A.T. tactician. She had her positron rifle. The creature was flying, and it just lost its A.T. field, meaning the other new pilot had to be a tactician too. Or was he? Wasn't he? And anyway, one of their fellow pilots had just died. was everyone on the top of their game? Regardless-
"Sync rate: 90%, Unit 13, launch now!" She heard the command issued by her operator. She didn't have time to think. Just to go. "Commander, that is an order, get out there!"
"Roger." Her voice hissed through the com as she tried to settle her mind. "Leonidas, Coffin. Launching." With that, her maroon Eva rocketed upward, passing stories in mere seconds. In her Eva's hand, her positron rifle was cradled, with her massive spear mounted on its back. Her body felt balanced enough, not too slowed, not too rushed. That was bound to change as the fight went on, but she had to make the most of the precious time she had when she was still balanced. Suddenly she felt the stop. She had reached the surface.
In an instant, the Coffin dropped on its knee and lined up its mighty ranged weapon. A positron rifle was one of the most powerful weapons in existence, as such, Lisa only used it when she wasn't fucking around. After a moment of charging, albeit not to full power, a shot flew from the gun toward the Angel, which made a deft maneuver to avoid it. It turned immediately to fire a spear at its attacker, but Unit 13 was already gone, sprinting in a circle relative to the flying Angel.
She began her plan, basic as it was. She bellowed out into the com, "Rev, Pollux, Nikolai(as she had been told his name was) move your asses now! Form a triangle around that Angel and do not move unless it aims directly at you! As for you, ...Aiber, right, keep that things A.T. field suppressed as best you can. The rest of you, shoot the shit out of that thing!"
A rush overtook her as they followed her commands. Rank did have its advantages. Confidence high, she had the Coffin stop and aim another positron blast, firing it when it had a little more power than before. The Angel screeched as a hail of bullets sunk into it from the numerous Eva pilots.
Lisa deploys into battle and order the other pilots to exploit the Angel's momentary weakness, though she ponders why the death of a fellow pilot was handled so nonchalantly.
Addison was allowed the last second switch in armaments when she went up to see Owen. Seeing him in action made her drop her questions because she knew that he needed all the strength he could muster to organize what was going on.
50%
She heard the battle chatter from her fellow pilots, hearing the voices of the new pilots in action. Addison always had faith in her fellow pilots as they were EVA pilots for a reason. Obviously if they weren't trustworthy enough or capable enough then they wouldn't be holding off these walking monstrosities. So Addison thought deeply going into a trance-like state until she was to reach the top, focusing on what was to come.
90%
The whir of machinery from the outside signaled her rise. The sunlight met Unit-09 again and she felt the EVA's lust for battle once again. Being a skirmisher, Addison had to keep a rein on the synch rate to be able to control the EVA to its finest abilities even if that meant exceeding the limit to get the shot.
"Unit-09 here!" She said.
Addison reached the supply tower trying to keep eyes on the flying Angel. She reached in and took out the absurdly large weapon. There would be no railgun today but in its place an equally massive gun. The ammunition cache attached tightly to the EVA's back and she brought the belt forward to fit into the Heavy HE Bolt Gun. It was large, almost matching the Railgun in girth. She holstered her Mas pistol and sheathed her Core Knife.
Immediately Unit-09 was met with the roars of Angel above them. Someone had breached the A.T. field already and her fellow pilots were doing their best to exploit the weakness as well. Addison followed and aimed a shot at Ohotorael, aiming center mass deducing that she had a higher percentage of knocking it out there than the wings.
A loud boom rocked through Unit-09's sensors as she fired a shot at the beast, leading the target. She watched the contrail of the propelled projectile screaming for its mark.
Unit-09 deploys but this time with a different main gun this time(We could do that right?) and takes a shot at Ohotorael while the shields are down, following what the other pilots are doing out of faith that they know what they are doing.
"Aiber just-with a-out of his-and he-why the-WHAT?"
In one foul swoop, Aiber had just taken out the angel's A.T. field and left it wide open. Pollux's own attempt had proved pretty futile. What type of pilot was he anyway? How could he do that? Pollux then remembered that the A.T fields were more than just energy, but in everything. He could manipulate the world around him if he wanted to. Not just the fields. Matter, physics, etc. He'd already known that,he just had to implement it better.
Pollux was pulled out of thought as a the angel was attacked from an unknown enemy. Suddenly, he heard orders barked out of his comm.
"Rev, Pollux, Nikolai, move your asses now! Form a triangle around that Angel and do not move unless it aims directly at you! As for you, ...Aiber, right, keep that things A.T. field suppressed as best you can. The rest of you, shoot the shit out of that thing!"
Pollux, quickly positioned himself and unloaded with his bolt rifle. The angel screeched in pain as each hit pierced through its skin.Pollux liked this plan. Suddenly a giant projectile pierces the horizon and comes gliding into the angel. Off in the distance, Unit-09 took stand on a watch tower. Glad to see Addison could make it. The shot nearly obliterated the angel. It was a bubbling mass of tortured evil. It almost made you feel bad for the guy. Pollux figured it was time to end this. He called his small crew.
"Have you targeted the angel?"
A couple of engineers sat near a few consoles, waiting for his instructions. When Pollux finally asked them about targeting, they quickly responded.
"Way ahead of you. We've had the bastard targeted for awhile now. Just give us the OK."
"Miss Leonidas, I'd suggest pulling back a bit or at least bracing ourselves. We have a few 'packages' incoming."
Lisa was about to ask what for, but as the angel fought to regain its A.T field to full strength, she simply ordered the others to pull back a bit. It was beginning to regain power and was resisting Unit-7.5. They had to strike while their window was still open.
"Hit him now!"
A few loud "WUMPS" in the distance and Pollux's insurance had arrived. A barrage of missiles from multiple silos and turrets came crashing down on the angel, in a hail of hell fire. When the debris cleared, Pollux was glad to see he'd done a lot more damage this time. The angel was covered in burns, it's yellow covered with patches of brown. There was some blood oozing out, but the angel was still aloft. Luckily, this surprise attack had kept it from regaining it's A.T field. Ohotorael let out a screech. He was pissed and ready for revenge.
"Oh, I'm not done yet. Look around you, you giant fish."
Strewn across the field and among the craters and missile fragments, were poles. Resonance Poles. A lot of them, more rising from the lifts. Ohotorael opened fire at Pollux. He flexed his hand, stopping the spears and melded them, similar to Aiber's action. He sent the bubbling mass back the angel. It glopped onto Ohotorael and the angel spazzed a bit in the air. The mass began to arc with electricity and the resonance polls charged up.
"Guys, get behind the barriers!"
The evas stared at Unit-31 for a split second, even Addison's off in the distance, while the pilots let out a few words along the lines of "Have you gone mad?!"
Well, I probably will in a few years, Pollux thought to himself. Might as well enjoy the time I have now.
The angel screeched in pain, the mass of molten spears still arcing, charging up for an explosion. This was gonna hurt.
"Enjoy this you yellow bastard! Sonic-"
The resonance poles were fully charged up and the molten mass of spears were at their maximum peak.
"CLUSTERFUCK!'
A Symphony of sonic booms erupted as Pollux jumped behind one of the barriers. Most of the poles were exploding from the sheer power and force around them, adding more to the madnass. The ground around the impact shook to the degree that even NERV's deepest parts felt a tingle. The molten mass finally erupted in a glorious light show. The mass hardened for a few seconds before erupting in furious shards, that stabbed the angel but also flew towards the evas taking defense. The attack was instantaneous but felt like an eternity. When the chaos had ended every eva cautiously looked over their barriers. Addison's eva was making it's way towards the group. It was a barren wasteland as the dust cleared, debris kicked up and the foundation around the impact formed a deep crater. Pollux was the first to get up and survey the scene.
"I-I think I got him." He turned back to the others.
"I GOT THE SLIMY BASTARD!"
Suddenly a giant, bloody, sludgy shimmering flap engulfed Pollux and stabbed multiple spears into him like teeth.
"GAAAH! Why does nothing good ever happen when I fight?!" He tensed his A.T field and tried pushing the bastard off him. The others took aim.
He'd hurt the angel. He'd hurt the angel real bad. But the angel also had a trick up it's sleeve. It was changing. Then a horrible voice yelled in Pollux's head.
""
Pollux reveals his insane plan and implements it. After damaging the angel, it begins to undergo a metamorphosis.
He drew his knife and Hand Canon and finished off the other three rounds as he closed in on the Angel and his fellow pilot. Aiber dropped the gun and stopped to look around.
He couldn't go in with the knife or he might stab the other Eva,and by extension the pilot. Then he saw the bridge. He bounded over to it and tore off the huge metal suspension cables, with a plan in mind.
As the bridge collapsed behind him, Aiber and Charlie tore the end off of the cable making it jagged and barbed. He closed a bit of distance between himself and the struggling mass then swung the cable around and lashed it straight into the angel. In it's torn and vulnerable form, the thorn-like end of the cable sunk in easily.
Then, working together with Charlie, Aiber pulled as hard ad he could, trying to tear the Angel off of Pollux. The monster roared in pain as bits of it's flesh were stretched and torn but it wouldn't let go.
"GOD DAMNIT!" Aiber exploded "WHOEVER YOU ARE UNDER THERE, FIGHT HARDER! DON'T LET THIS BLOB PIECE OF SHIT BEAT YOU! YOU'RE AN EVA PILOT, YOU'RE BETTER THAN THIS AND YOU KNOW IT, NOW FIGHT!"
---------------------------------
Inside the control room a grin spread on Colonel Blake's face.
"That's my boy alright."
Aiber tries to drag the angel off of Pollux with a torn suspension cable and gives some inspirational words that he desperately wishes hadn't been inspired by his father
Pollux was done. The pain was unbearably intense as the spears bore into Unit-31. Pollux tried desperately to escape the grasp of the angel, and but the more he fought, the worse it felt. He soon realized that this was how it was gonna end. If his team was trying to get him out, they weren't doing much good. He could hear cracks all around him and knew it was a matter of time until the entry plug was breached. His umbilical cord was somehow still connected but that wasn't gonna last long, either.
"<NOW DO YOU SEE? HOW FUTILE AND HOW WORTHLESS YOUR EFFORTS ARE? SUBMIT TO MY WILL AND MAKE IT END ALL THE QUICKER!"
Pollux knew he had no choice. The last he'd seen before being engulfed was the angel undergoing a transformation. For all he knew, the new form could be complete and he was simply along for the ride as his team was slaughtered. His days as an eva pilot were done. He had to submi-
"WHOEVER YOU ARE UNDER THERE, FIGHT HARDER! DON'T LET THIS BLOB PIECE OF SHIT BEAT YOU! YOU'RE AN EVA PILOT, YOU'RE BETTER THAN THIS AND YOU KNOW IT, NOW FIGHT!"
Pollux fought back. What had he promised to do? Protect those of this world from the angelic threat and make his own path? No, no, no to fight for as long as he could and create at least manage to say he did something for the future. And this wasn't it. Pollux realized he couldn't give in then. He had another few years until he was free of this burden and he wasn't gonna get taken out of the game now. Not like this. Especially with Aiber around trying to steal his thunder as an A.T. Tactician. Neither was his eva. Dioscuri began exerting all it's power to escape this evas grasp. Bot the pilot and the eva were resisting this monster's influence. They refused to back down.

Pollux's A.T field tore up the area around him, his eva opened it's mouth, roaring with all it's new found fury. The angel was being torn to bits attempting to get away from the mass of energy being expelled. The other pilots took a few steps back as this all happened, to avoid getting damaged as well. After a bit, the energy subsided and Unit-31 let out a smaller roar, more of a long yet powerful moan.
"Got anything to say about that you soggy, washed up piece of crap.
The meat sack of an angel bulged and reformed. The shimmering skin giving way to new shape. Payback. As Pollux positioned himself, he realized his cord had been cut and that there had had less than 5 minutes left.
"Hmm, fine. Let's see what I can do, while I still can."
Aiber and Charlie jumped back on thier feet after falling from the sudden release of the angel.
"Are you allright uh..."
"Pollux."
"Right, you showed me around the base. Let's get this thing together."
Aiber scooped up his Hand Canon and holstered it while drawing his knife with the other hand. He raised his A.T. Field in the form of a tight bubble-like force field around himself and Charlie and took a defencive stance facing the re-forming Angel.
"I'll take defense and you take offense?" he suggested to Pollux.
Aiber finds out who the trapped pilot was, and prepares to fight again. Sorry for the short posts lately but I've been posting on borrowed time today, also I don't want to take too much into my own hands and mess things up.
Aiber was getting ready to fight this thing and wanted Pollux to join in. The angel was still gaining power, and it's A.T field was gaining strength as well. It was also extremely hostile in this state. Whatever it was gonna transform into was gonna be pretty powerful.
"Alright, you might want to defend our fellow pilots as well I don't think there's much they can do in this situation. It's A.T field is too chaotic. I've got about 3 minutes left. I'll handle this for as much time as I can."
Pollux's eva shot forward, its mouth roaring with intensity. A bit too loud in fact. He suddenly realized his 3 eyed eva had 2 mouths as well. He didn't have time to think about how crazy that was, he simply wanted to work on taking out the angel. What to do, what to do. Suddenly a thought burst into his head. He rose his left hand, rippled the A.T field around it, slashed, and produced a vicious attack.
"Castor Cleaver!"
The attack sent a thick sheet of A.T energy tearing across the ground and through the air. When it collided with the bubbling angel, it tore it apart and sent it crashing to the ground.
Only to have the angel reform and get back up again.
"You're not gonna die like this are you?"
The bubbling mass continued to morph.
Pollux attacks the angel in while eva berserks but finds that the angel cannot be injured as well while forming.
Rev tore back through the battlefield, leaping on top of the bubbling shape that somewhere contained an Angel inside. The midnight beast roared and teared at the flesh, ripping it into bloody chunks as it searched for the core.
"95"
"I'LL KILL YOU!" Rev shouted, his mind blank save for his rage. "EVERYTHING CAN DIE. EVERYTHING IS FINITE. YOU ARE FINITE. I WILL RIP YOU TO SHREDS UNTIL I FIND YOUR HEART AND I WILL PIERCE IT! REVEAL YOUR CORE OR I'LL DRAG IT INTO THE LIGHT MYSELF!"
His hand plunged deep within the holy creature's form. A terrible shriek unlike anything the pilots had heard filled their ears to the brim. It was almost like a whale, but something so much grander and so much more terrible. Spikes of dripping orange penetrated artificial flesh. The Eva roared, truly growing sick of the pain that constantly tore apart its frame. But it forced itself back in. It continued to reach. Rev called out to his companions.
"WE CAN KILL THIS THING BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! GRR...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--"
His roar of defiance morphed. It became a shriek. A cry. He was in pain; he was no longer asking for assistance. He was begging for someone to save him.
Rev begins to berserk and attempts to kill the angel mid-transformation, but is extremely injured by the creature. He tries to ask for assistance before the pain starts to overwhelm him.
"No defense, no offense, both of you get back now!" Lisa hollered into her com as her Eva leaped out from behind the barricades. The amorphous blob of an Angel began to have subtle protrusions extend from its body that Lisa was only able to notice due to her training, where tactical observation was a rigorous, intense course that few Neo-Spartans ever passed. The tiny bumps were all pointed at Pollux's Eva. Lisa had a pretty good idea of what was going to happen, and only seconds to react to it, so she did what came naturally.
The Coffin sprung straight at the boy's Eva, knocking it down just as a barrage of spears shot out at them, before Pollux had even gotten to finishing asking her what she was talking about. Fortunately for her, she had manged to get mostly out of the paths of trajectory of the many spears, but she did have a new gash in the Coffin's left calf, and the umbilical cable was severed. She now had 5 minutes to win. 'Better. I fight better under even MORE pressure.'
Aiber saw the assault on them and grunted. "Crap, I guess your right. I'm moving back!" His Eva sprinted back before jumping behind the barricade with the other 3 units. With him, the Coffin hoisted Pollux's Eva up and pulled it by the wrist back- or was it Lisa pulling Alexander along again, getting ready to go to battle- towards the barriers before they broke apart and dove into cover.
"We have to wait," Pollux said, "for that thing to reform. We can't hurt it like this." Aiber nodded in assent. Lisa racked her brain for some sort of plan while she tried to peek out to see what the monster was becoming. She was now feeling the pain in her leg from her nerve connections to Unit 13, and there was precious little time her power supply, even less in Pollux's. She needed something, some idea. How do 6 Eva's defeat one Angel without any more deaths?
[EDIT]
Then Rev attacked. She couldn't stop him. No one could. He slammed right into the blob which began to engulf him. Its arm was getting sucked in and the rest of the unit was not far behind. She had to stop it now, and save him. But if she tried to pull him out directly she would be eaten with him...
She saw the remains of Unit 3 not far from her. Next to the crumpled mess was a godsend of a weapon, a chainsword, more or less intact. She had an idea which she knew Rev wouldn't like. Unfortunately, it was their only option. She dropped her rifle and took the sword, then entered back into the fray, running right at the Angel... and Rev. She called to him, "This is gonna hurt a lot Rev, for fucks sake don't scream, you might bite your tongue!" She stopped right next to him, the weapon in her hands running at full power. She raised it over her Eva's head and...
"I'm sorry."
...brought it right through the other Eva's arm, at the elbow. She heard Rev's scream, he was probably extremely synched with his Eva at this point. But she had no time for pity. The Coffin grabbed its fellow Eva and ran them both back to cover, leaving the progressive blade behind.
Lisa pulls Aiber and Pollux back, and has a breif mental overlap with her Eva.She then cuts off Rev's Eva's arm to save him from the Angel.
The fight was going anything but well. At first it had seemed the angel was the weakest encounter yet. They had brought down it's A.T. Field with relative ease and the pilots seemed to be in top form, despite their recent mental encounter.
This was before the angel began to transform... the adapt to the fight.
The Angel was systematically destroying the them; the Eva's were in all but full withdrawal. Eva and Angel blood painted the streets; the collateral damage was immense. Owen could feel a sense of dread growing in the NERV officers, and the troops were on the brim of panic.
Not withstanding, Director Laurence was smiling. While the rest of NERV may have believed this were a desperate fight, he knew first hand this was nothing compared to what they had faced before. Still, they might need some aid - it was time for NERV to do it's job
Turning to the technicians below him, Owen called out "Private; use the turrets to fire on the angel". The private gave an odd look but before he could protest,Owen moved to his next order. Owen turned to the next private, calling "Get ready to use the shields!"
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Rev was being engulfed by the Angel, it's A.T. Field corroding the Eva's Body.
Then NERV opened fire. Bullets raced towards the angel at enormous speeds. but, just like all conventional weapons, they could not harm the angel; it's A.T. Field rendering it immune to all such attacks.
It did distract it though, but only for a moment
A moment that was used to launch the shield wall, stored below the angel, up into the angels stomach - or equivalent there of. Shocked by the sudden onslaught, and due to his sudden change in altitude, the angel released it's hold on Rev.
Ohotorael loaded another spear. Larger and larger it grew, like an inflating balloon. It turned to fire. And then-
POOOOMPFF!
SPWOOOOSH!
The attacks popped it. The pufferfish-crossbow-ray exploded. All the air it had sucked in to fire its next spear went blasting out through the hole in it's side. It stayed in the air by the Spread Pattern of it's A.T. Field, tormented by bolts and sonic waves. And now the berserk Evas were bearing down on it. It held them off with a solid Absolute Territory Field, and changed.
The stingray fins hardened to the shape of a flying saucer. The stalk eyes thickened. The red orbs remained. Eyes? Cores? What are they?
The body sprouted down, forming into a fleshlike lattice structure- like spongy, alien baleen. The energy from within it blazed like the sun. The Evangelion arm was absorbed into it, quickly disappearing, sucked in.
Multijointed legs sprouted from his sides. One, two, four - six, total. The legs lengthened, becoming spindly, almost like a spider's. The two front legs ended in claws. The back four legs ended in sharp, barbed spikes. What remained was a translucent skin or shell of no particular color. And then, before their startled gaze, the shell began to change. From a translucence that revealed vague outlines of respiratory organs, it became a rapidly shifting whirlwind of coloration.
Some strange thing from some far-distant planet. It stood four hundred feet tall. Like an octopus, it's body was covered with a vivid, moving display of light and color. From white with stripes of black to speckled with pink and green. And there were colors no human ever saw, more felt than seen. From some angles the Angel had a defined pattern, but a second later everything would shift and the skin seemed to be covered with a million tiny monitors at once. Ohotorael was beautiful.
There was a deep booming sound. The streets immediately began to lean, and then to move, drawn into the tiny Dirac Sea the Angel was attacking with- like a black hole. But they didn't disappear- they just imploded into themselves, metal and rock twisting into blocks. Rev and Lisa's Evas raced backwards on their own, while asphalt and military stockades were crushed together.
And as Unit-02 stared, the complex patterns on it's body faded. A series of vertical striped shadows began to appear, which exactly matched the shadows cast by the buildings. It became the precise metallic colors of the city block. The exact blue of the sky. With only the outline in view, it blended into invisibility.
Ohotorael's initial body is now it's 'head', the rest of it morphing to a huge crab-like being that changes color and becomes almost invisible.
Aiber watched the monstrosity transform in horror and confusion. How could it have survived after all that damage? The last thing he saw of it before it became invisible were the red glint of it's stalked eyes.
Wait...red eyes...red spherical eyes...
"It's the eyes!" Aiber shouted. "That's why it wont die! It has two cores and they're it's eyes!"
He finally drew the Positron Rifle Mk II from a supply tower nearby and readied the weapon.
"Pollux, Unit 02, get it to show it's self! Lisa, aim for the left eye when it does!"
Unit-09 looked around, scanning for a target but as it disappeared, she realized that it would harder this time. An invisible enemy was as dangerous as a thousand. Addison thought back to the hundreds of combat scenarios that she was made to put through. She more or less passed them with flying colors but this time it was a hundred story tall monstrosity that had the ability of a chameleon.
Addison walked forward, slowly at first. Ohotoreal was waiting, carefully planning for a strike when the pilots were most vulnerable. It was a fight in a concrete jungle.
"Unit-13, is Rev still able to function?" Addison said coldly into the comms. Casualties were expected and who else was it to think that than a science experiment due for death. She didn't bat an eye as she passed Chris' remains looking more closely for where the cloaked Angel was.
Addison starts to hunt for Ohotoreal. She also partially reveals her total lack of feeling she has for casualties that they sustain.
Pollux was taking everything in. The transformation had been horrifying beautiful to him, but that quickly wore off the moment he realize Rev was seriously injured. Then the bastard had pulled some chameleon crap and disappeared. It was quiet. More quiet than a battlefield should be. Or at least one where people were still fighting. How could this angel be seem quiet with such an appearance? Aiber contributed a plan.
"Pollux, Unit 02, get it to show it's self! Lisa, aim for the left eye when it does!"
Lisa wasn't too happy about someone else making the commands
"I'm the one giving ord-"
"What else is there to do?" Aiber responded with.
He had a point. This guy could just sneak up on them at any moment. Maybe it was gaining power? maybe it was plotting? Maybe it was transforming into something more powerful. What were they supposed to do?
"Find it before it finds you" a voice in the back of Pollux's head said.
"Guys, I think I can get the drop on this guy!"
Pollux remembered his little upgrade. He could just look around and find the highest A.T field around them. Then he could strike. Pollux would have to strike fast, his eva only had a few minutes left. He began to look around but saw nothing? There wasn't even a single disturbance, everything was normal. Where was this guy? He closed his eyes and simply let his senses do everything else. Nope. Nothing. Not even a tingle. How was this guy hiding?
Pollux simply walked around a bit. He looked down at the corpse of their fallen comrade. He tried not to convey his feelings, but he was slightly terrified by the prospect that anyone on this team could be taken out while piloting something so powerful. That wasn't gonna be him. Addison walked by and didn't even bother to look down. Can't blame her. They had their own lives to worry about.
"How the hell is this guy hiding? He simply blended into the background he can't have just gotten up and le-"
And it hit him. Ohothorael wasn't just blending into the environment visually, but also everything else. He was as quiet as the world around him, matching the sound, or lack there of. Maybe he was the right smell too. Pollux didn't think about it too hard, because what did matter was that he was blending in with the A.T fields around him. That meant the angel wasn't at full power, but the moment it wanted to, it could wipe them out instantly. But Pollux would know the moment it tried.
"Come on out so we can all go home."
There was a spike in A.T energy. Right behind Pollux.
"Nice try, coward!"
Pollux's eva spun around, deflecting two claws that attempted to slash at his eva's head, and tore at the angel. It's A.T field was back up but Unit-31 was tearing right through it. The others fired a few shots at the angel attempting not to hit Pollux. They tried hitting mostly eyes, they were the closest things to cores visible. That might explain the sudden change in the angel's appearance. And it was all they really had if they wanted to take down this angel.
His eva was through, ready to crush the two red spheres when suddenly an array of color appeared in front of the angel. The appeared to emanate from the angel before jumping off its skin, changing into multiple shapes and flung themselves at Pollux. It blinded Pollux and the other pilots. He was sent him flying. He nicked Addison's eva, flew over Rev, past Aiber, behind Lisa, and kept flying all the way across the crater that was now the battlefield. With a command from Lisa the others opened fire into the area the blast had come from and started moving around the angel they couldn't see.
As Unit-31 lay embedded in a wall, Pollux checked how much time he had left.
2:45:15
"Oh joy."
Pollux searches for the angel, gives his own view on Chris' death, and gets launched by the angel.
Something was wrong. Rev's voice was coming through the other pilots' comm channels. But also somewhere else. No could understand, until a scientist buried elbow-deep in monitors shouted at the others. His voice was a mix of awe and dread.
"H-his Eva!"
They looked, all of them. The midnight beast was... changed. Its mouth hung wide open, like its jaw was unhinged. Even as blood dripped from its wound, the arm seemed to sear at the point of the cut. It was glowing, maybe? Its eyes were red, and yet deeper than that. They were a color no one could recognize. And then it spoke. The words of Rev echoed out of its own throat, in a deep and bestial growl, even a roar.
"I... SEE... YOU.
"107%, and rising!" someone called. A hissing noise pierced the monitors of NERV HQ. Unit-27's umbilical cord dropped to the ground. On its status screen, a small timer came up, 5:00:00 and began to count down.
Rev and beast roared in unison, and it took off at blinding speed. A deep snorting noise could be heard by those close by. They were sniffing out the Angel. At full speed, they swung with wild force, crashing into an invisible shape. The Angel rocked back, unseen, before swiping with an invisible claw and slamming into the Eva, pinning it against a building. Then Rev did something unexpected. His remaining hand gripped one of his daggers, and he drove it into the shoulderblade of his detached arm.
A fountain of blood rocketed out, thousands of gallons spraying themselves over the Angel. Red filled where nothing was before, revealing the great Cancer's form to all who dared to look.
Rev screamed at the top of his lungs, in complete agony and rage. "HIT IT!!!"
The shock of losing an arm sinks in, causing Rev to berserk even further and detach his umbilical cord. He gets himself pinned attacking the Angel and stabs himself, covering the Angel in blood to reveal it.
