On the surface it's a free market space exploration game, but when you delve deeper into the construction of the universe, you find that you, no matter how strong or influential you are in the game, you're still a little ant moving at the confines of the developer's creation, so in reality it's less lazziez faire and more socialism with a mask.

ive played eve for 5 years (i don't anymore. don't have the time) and i can really recommend it if your up for investing alot of time and effort into something.
When you get to a good enough level where youve got a steady income coming in, you can do some proper pvp for an alliance on 0.0 and it is the most fun you'll have with your clothes on, it really is. No gaming experience has come close to my first pvp mission for an alliance waaaay back before capital ships etc.

i seriously recommend if your willing to put the time and effort in, and not get shirty and wingey if a pirate pods you in a 0.4.

I gave it a shot, and didn't enjoy it, so, on the grounds that I found it rather tedious, I'd say avoid it.

Still, I guess it all depends on your opinion of MMOs and Sci-Fi. I enjoy Science Fiction, and don't mind playing MMOs, so I thought EVE might be fun, but it wasn't.

Ah well.

Just watch the Zero Punctuation review.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Benjamin Croshaw(sp?) is not god. He writes funny reviews, but he's not exactly the number one source for good information about video games.
Yea, but I still agree with him on this one.
