Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Was walking through the store, picked it up, read the back, and bought it on a whim. It's still my favourite game.

Haunting Ground. I was in a game store, saw the dog on the cover, and became curious. I bought it and absolutely loved it. That was a really long time ago. That was the game that got me interested in survival horror at all, actually.

Parasite Eve 2. I had never even heard of Parasite Eve but I was again, in a game store and I saw PE2 on the shelf. The cover looked interesting to me and it kind of intrigued me. I bought it and loved it and then tracked down the first one soon after.

Those are the only two I can think of...

Final Fantasy 10.

I'd never even heard of FF before then, it looked cool so I bought it, best game I ever played.

GTA 3. I would have been 11 or 12 at the time, never having played a GTA before I decided to try it(I rented it from my local rogers), and ended up loving it. Bought every sequel afterwards, excluding the PSP releases.

KOTOR II, I can't repeat myself this many times, saw it on the Top 5 Xbox Gamestop games back in Holiday 2004, got it as a present, played it for years to come, became my favorite game of all time.

Hells yeah!

Freelancer was THE Best Impulse Purchase I could of ever made in my gaming life so far. I reinstalled it recently and played the daylights out of it ... again! It's the only game I have replayed in it's entirety.

Demigod was probably the most resent one. I make a habit of... *ahem* testing a game before I buy it, but I decided to drop the cash on it with nothing more to go on than a single recommendation from a friend, and the rampant piracy rates that hit that game. Morrowind I guess would count, or maybe the PS2 Neopets. The thing is, I almost never play a game I've never heard of before playing it. I had a friend who was raving about Morrowind's graphics, and I saw a convincing E3 trailer for Neopets. That was all I had to go on with those two games, but now Morrowind is my favorite game ever, and Neopets held me through a full playthrough for what should have been a fluff title that I pop in once and never look at again. It still remains as one of my favorite titles that shouldn't have been fun at all, let alone a really good game.

Tales of Symphonia. All I ever heard about it before was a friend saying I should check it out because its a JRPG (and that's my favorite genre) and I ended up loving it. If only Lloyd and Colette died in the first ten minutes, it'd have been the most epic game ever, because they're the most freaking infuriating characters ever. Oh, and different music for every dungeon = would have been nice as well.

There were two games actually. One was Killer 7. I bought the game and hated myself for buying it at first look. 2 weeks later I decided to give it another go. I didn't leave my room for about a good 9 hours... I fell in love.

And another game was Blast Corps. It was the only game in stock that didn't involve Link or any sports so I decided, "what the hell? let's do it." I bought it and I couldn't stop playing. No one has ever heard of it though

The first game that comes to mind is Mount & Blade from TaleWorlds and Paradox Interactive. I'd never heard of it until I ran across it at Big Lots. They have a small section of PC games that are really cheap. I got it for something like $6.00. I love it and have been playing it regularly for three months now. Best simulation of what it's like to be a mercenary in medieval times that I have run across. It might lack some of the graphical polish of the $60 games, but the combat aspects of the game put all of the recent big budget medieval themed games to shame.

For me it was Final Fantasy X. I got it as a Christmas present, played the first couple of hours and got hooked. Still one of my top 10 games.

I picked up a pre-owned copy of Oblivion for 30 bucks down at JB HI-FI. 90 hours of gameplay later, it is my utmost favourite game EVER.
