Happens to me now and again. Usually I read books and, watch movies, and hang out with friends until Im interested again. Sometimes it can take weeks.

Ill never really get bored of games due to lack of quality though. I have a good 30 last gen games that I need to play one way or another. I might start with half-life. I need to stop buying this gen games though. Damn Valkyria Chronicles, eating my time

I have been doing recently, my Wii and DS have been gathering dust and I haven't bought any sort of game in months. The only thing I've played recently is Animal Crossing.

Yes. I currently pretty much have. Despite having something like 75 games I still need to play. >_>
Seconded. Right now I just can't be bothered to play any of them.

Might have something to do with my general state of extreme 'meeh'ness.

I do look forward to a couple of releases though (Diablo 3, SW:TOR, Batman: Arkham City, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and a couple of other games) but I just can't be bothered with playing any at the moment.

Or do anything except spam StumbleUpon and absently listen to some music to drive the silence away.

Well, no really. If anything, games like Team fortress 2, Bioshock or Fallout 3 have made me more enthusiastic about games. Also, since moving to college it's been a lot easier to get an old fashioned multiplayer game going. I probably play more than ever.

I will never lose interest in games, not completely.
Although i have a tiny bit recently, i think it might be because i've only been looking forward to sequels since last year,
e.g,

last year i was looking forward to:

Fable II, Assassin's Creed 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Halo 3: ODST and Modern Warfare 2 (dear god why?)

This year, it's: Dead Rising 2, Halo: Reach, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Fable III.

I don't look for many "new" games. Not yet.

I haven't lost any interest in gaming. Like some others have said, I do feel kinda meh about current release sometimes, but the desire to play something is still there. My brain hasn't quite got into the 9-5 groove yet, so during the week I don't feel like it as much as well.

Interestingly enough though, I have begun having the desire to actually do some real interacting with other humans more and more, which is weird since I'm rather anti-social. But that's not lessening my desire to play games either.

When ever that happens I just go back and replay some old favourites.

Half Life 2, Bioshock, Portal etc. They set me right in no time.

However, having just played Amnesia, my faith in games is as strong as it has ever been. God damn, that game was good.

i understand totally. i bought red dead redemption and ive played for like 3 hours and couldn't be fucked. its nearly the same with all games now. i still look forward to something new and exciting but when i get it im just............. bored. im quite depressed about it because gaming has been the one most stable and integral part of my life for the last 13 years (im 17 now) and has got me through high school, puberty and a parents divorce and now i... i dunno man im just saying that you aren't alone

Yeah but it may be because I have over 30 Xbox 360 games (including a few original Xbox ones) and have finished all but Final Fantasy XIII, I like FFXIII but the pacing is horrible and I just can't get into it until I play it and I dread starting to play it...but once I start I love it?

But anyways, yes and no.

Sadly, yes.
For the first time in about 750 hours of playtime, I couldn't be bothered to play Team Fortress 2 earlier. I'm over it now, but I fear a relapse may be inevitable...
I hope the Polycount Pack actually adds some more interesting things instead of just some useless waste of an unlockable [http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Crit_a_cola] or another overpowered piece of crap [http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Scotsman's_skullcutter].

Recently set up my PS2 downstairs again though. Maybe I need to step into the past to rekindle my interest in gaming.
Geez, that sounded dorky...

Games have always been one of my favorite hobbies. I've been playing them since I was about 5. For some reason I've started to lose interest in games recently. I can't seem to put my finger on exactly what the reason is though. It's not that games aren't fun anymore. I actually just bought Mafia 2 and had a blast playing it. But see the thing is...I played it for 2 days (on my days off) and I didn't beat it, but now I have no desire to play it anymore and see the ending. I just lost the interest to play, even though I was having fun with it.

Another example: I patiently waited for over a decade for Starcraft 2 to be released. When it finally was, I played the first few missions and then promptly forgot about it before I forced myself to finish the game a month later.

I don't think it's because I'm getting older. I'm only 25. Has anyone else ever gone through periods like this where gaming just doesn't hold your interest like it used to?
Well...in my case I've noticed a general decline in interest over the years. I also started at age 5 and now I'm 23. I feel like I've enjoyed gaming the most when I was 11-17. Prolly just nostalgia. After those "golden" years I still played games...only I didn't finish a lot of em and it was as if they weren't that potent anymore, immersion-wise. I've also become more demanding in my choice of games.

But every once in a while some games can still get me excited/ interested. Right now those are: Deus Ex Human Revolution, Portal 2 and Diablo 3.

Yes, I was 19 and going through a serious depression. A few months, psych visits and antidepressants later, I was feeling alot better, so I went on a 1 week gaming binge.

I don't know maybe its because I'm only 14 but I have loved games since I was like 3 or 4 and my love has only increased.

Not really.

Consider this: why do you game? People play games for different reasons, and the fact is that not only will interest wane if you don't understand it, but some reasons offer more longevity than others.

I, for instance, play video games as much as I study them for artistic purposes. Games are an incredible new way to tell stories through interactivity, and it's still growing in that area. By understanding and appreciating the artistic and literary importance on the medium, I've given my life focus through it, and I'll never get tired of seeing the industry develop new ways to use interactivity to tell effective stories.

Maybe you like the competition, and you want to try playing more competitively. Maybe you're just a social gamer, and you use it to have fun wiht friends. There is a reason you like games, and if you don't understand that reason, your interest in them will eventually start to fade because you don't truly understand their value. Beyond that, if you play games just for escapism and a fun time, it makes sense that they may eventually get old; appreciation and understanding of the medium ensures that you will never look at two games in the same way, and keeps things fresh.

My suggestions and thoughts.
