Some specification would certainly be appreciated, since IMO, the entire game is an annoying feature.

The elevator ride in Mass Effect. I don't really see the point. I pretty much prefer a loading screen because there's nothing happening in the elevator anyway. Or at least let me talk to my companions during the ride.
Oh I liked them, mine would be the mining in ME2, whoever thought that up needs to apologize.
For the second time in two days I find my self agreeing with you. The elevators are OK I don't mind them at all, they are way better than the stupid loading screens of ME2. Mining is annoying, at least let us flog some surplus so we can have a much needed cash injection (and why am I paying for everything, is Cerberus skint now?)
I find the mission statements at the end of each mission in ME2 very irritating, really ruins immersion for me.

Malaria in Far Cry 2. Every now and then having to take a fucking pill and every now and then having to cart your way across a map to get like, three more pills. Fuck, you think delivering crucial documents, killing mercenaries to save a group of people's lives is worth more than THREE FUCKING PILLS!

Well, your squad sometimes talks, revealing quite interesting little feelings, relationships and backstory. Also, the news updates, which are interesting and even on one occasion actually give you an assignment.

OT, I'd say unskippable cutscenes. I think every game should do it either one of these two ways:
1. The cutscene is unskippable the first time, then can be skipped all times after that.
2. The cutscene can only be skipped by some means that is deliberate, e.g. pause, skip cutscene, "Are you sure?", skip.

Just about every unique Feature of Metal Gear Solid 3 was both clever and very, very annoying.

Well, the whole eating thing wasn't that bad, especially with the weird effects some of the food gave, but changing your cameo every 5 minutes got fairly tedious after about half of the game (luckily, you don't need to change much in the last third of the game).

And then there is the whole healing thing. *sigh*
Once again something fairly interesting in concept, but very annoying in execution, especially in Bossfights (for example, when fighting The End, because it was absolutely neccessary to pull out the tranquilzer darts ASAP, you had to go into the "heal menu" constantly, prolonging an already very long bossfight)

Not to mention that, as far as i remember, you couldn't just stock up on those pills, but had to "wait" till you only had one pill left to unlock missions to get more of them...

Only so I can enjoy listening to someone else nitpick FFVIII for once.

Pretty much everything about that game was just...urgh. Triple Triad was maybe the only redeeming feature to me, but even then that got screwed up because of all the crazy rules they implimented. Like Random. Fuck Random. That rule encouraged you to get rid of all your lower level weaker cards meaning that you'd never have a complete collection if you wanted to continue winning.

As others have said: Any game with the inability to pause and skip cutscenes. Square-Enix seem to be pretty good at this these days, thankfully. I can only hope other companies who haven't taken note do so quickly.

I know it's popular, and I know I may be in the minority, but I'm already getting tired of third-person, over-the-shoulder games where the hero's bulk covers up a third of the screen as you're trying to line up a shot. (I'm cutting off my own perepheral vison? Seriously?)

Hey Listen!

yeah, that was sort of annoying.

Also, in Fable, how you end up looking about 80 years old... Its not that long of a game and no one else ages.
your child does and i think its about 8-10 years the game advances

Playing Super Smash Bros' Brawl, when I add 3 bots, they ALL attack me and ignore each other.
Soon as they get the Final Smash, I hang off the side to hide...but they wait JUST FOR ME.
Fk offfffff~ *ragebutton* >:O

Yea I would have much rather had the counsel or illusive man debrief me like in the first game, though I did like how you upgraded weapons.

Oh, there are many. For example Persona 3 with certain quests that require you to repeatedly press X every 20 seconds for about ten minutes (I'm sure buying 50 soda cans from vending machines sounded like a great idea for a quest at the time). Or Borderlands and those ridiculously low level-quests, of which you get constantly reminded of. Mount and Blade and the bloody Khergit Khanate lancers. Faster than wind and more destructive than a battalion of tanks, and always after no-one but you. EVE Online with about 5 different quests you do over and over again. Oh, there are many.

...The only problem was that they'd last for about a quarter of the ride. For the rest of it it would just be cheesy future muzak and awkward shuffling.
Oh, but if you're going for an authentic elevator experience, you really have to stand still and be all awkward. Maybe a peek at your clock every 10 seconds is acceptable, but not much else. It's just Bioware and their urge to be realistic in social behaviour.

Also, hiya all.

How could I have forgotten that? If MGS4 cutscenes were unskippable I..
It'd been the shortest game ever!

The handling in Need for Speed: Prostreet, all the cars handle like boats on land.
I also hate unskippable cutscenes in games, I only see them the first time, dammit!

"You can't fast travel with enemies near."

Then spending 10 minutes looking for the Mudcrap in the river!

...I know I can walk away, but I'm thick!

They did do those news updates during the Elevators, but I know what you mean.
Weren't those only in the PC version?
To be honest, I liked them, definitely more than loading screens. I've never seen a loading screen with entertaining banter. (Metro 2033 had quotes from the main character, which I did quite like)

And I liked the Mako as well. It was quite a personable little marshmallow wheeled thing.
