Ever taken a break from gaming?

I never take a concious break but sometimes I just get randomly disinterested and stop playing for a while. I then proceeded to play for somewhere near 12 hours (almost) straight.
I'm a student so when I'm not working (very often ) I have to over compensate for the the boredom I've been having.

playing a lot more because I'm not in a relationship any more and i need a distraction =/


but lately I'm too lazy to play anything and most games you can complete in one day lol

i went a few years in the 90's without anything of my own to play games on. i played lots at mates houses when we would partake in 'herbal' and shroom get togethers, but thats not really a break as such now that think of it

Went off them for 32 days of lent last year before I broke. That includes online flash games.

Was pretty tough staying off them for that long.

I'm currently on one, I don't know if it's voluntary or by accident, but I just haven't really felt the need t play games for the past few months...
I'll express the same level of interest in them as i've always done, but when i'm playing them, my heart's just not in it.

Maybe i'm growing out of them?

I've taken plenty of breaks from gaming. Aside from the usual breaks for vacations, when I was in school I'd tend to lay off on the games a bit when it came time for serious endeavors.

Other than that though, I don't usually go more than a day or two without playing some game.

I felt like that a while back, I had put it down to not having many games that interested me coming out.

I'm on a forced break, since my 360 RR'd a couple hours ago. Again.

That sucks, how many times has it broke before?

This makes two times. It RR'd for the first time last month.

Not counting today i haven't played for about a week and a half. I guess i just got bored playing the same games over & over again.

Just wondered how fellow Escapist members felt if they have took a break away from gaming (e.g. for a holiday etc). At the moment I have not played any games for around 4 days and am currently missing them quite a lot which has surprised me in a way as I didn't realise I depended on them so much for entertainment.

Have any of you stopped gaming for any reason? Did you miss it much or did it not bother you that much?

Four days? that's nothing. I went about 5 months (wasn't keeping track very well) without playing a single video game. Although to be honest this was mostly because my PC is an annoying bastard that was OOC for most of the time, and the only console I had back then was a Gamecube. It was rough. On the plus side, I have now successfully made the switch to pure console gaming, I have a 360 and a Wii with a plethora of games for both, and I couldn't be happier.

I went three days without playing games when I beat Half-Life 2, because I knew that nothing would compare with the game's epic climax.

yea, my longest break was maybe 6 weeks when the only game i played was WoW, but it got really boring, then i bought new games.
