Went off them for 32 days of lent last year before I broke. That includes online flash games.

Was pretty tough staying off them for that long.
what the hell did you do for 32 days!? Other than suffer, of course
Er... suffer? No wait you said other than suffer... em... emmmmmmmm........ :S

First off, I seem to have phases where I play a lot and phases where i play a little, if at all. The phases where I play a lot are usually occupied by one game that I play most if not all of the way through. So I have breaks between games, basically. On the other hand, I also often have to take a break from more than one hour or so straight of gaming, I just cant sit still that long. The only game I will ever probably beat in one sitting will probably be portal.

A lot of the time. I've always found it strange that I have friends with much more active social lives than me who've managed to play hundreds more games and rack up thousands more gamerpoints than I have. Any prolonged gaming stint I have vanishes almost as suddenly as it started. Sometimes I wonder whether I can really call myself a gamer, but then I remember I can call myself whatever the bloody hell I want.

At my last job I never had time to do anything (working 17 hours a day 6 days a week at one point) so gaming for me was thinly spread. Coupled with the sheer, unbelievable stress I was under it was HELL. It took me a while to get back to grips with them, kinda lost my edge for a bit.

Yea I stopped for a while last year, a few weeks in fact. It didn't bother me much, although it was a long month without them...

I only take gaming breaks when real life consequences and responsibilities get to be too much.
I go into the fetal position, scream at the TOP OF LUNG, then make with the feverish musings of catching up on anything that might be suffering or piling up at the time. This happens rarely though.

There's down time, then back to my usual video game meanderings.

I've actually taken major, somewhat permanent break. Around September I got bored of video games (I know hard to imagine), so I sold all of my 4 systems (PS2, DS, GameCube, and PSP), and all 60+ games I had with them. I had enough money to buy a 40GB PS3, and 1 game, which turned out to be GTA IV.

So now I have a PS3/Dust Collector with 1 game that I play every full moon (not really, but I rarely play it). Even still, I like to browse, and be a part of gaming sites/forums.

I'm beginning to feel disenchanted by games at the moment, but for some reason I haven't stopped playing yet. Maybe it's time to put the computer somewhere inaccessible for a while :/

I usually try to find time for my hobby, but at the moment school is getting in the way.

I don't think I'd be able to 'gorge' myself on games any more, I'd start to feel guilty that I should be doing something 'constructive' - that's what studying does to you.

It happens. I have other stuff to do anyway.
I used to care about and enjoy them much more, but perhaps it's because new titles have gotten terrible and I don't feel like playing through an old game for a 5th time right now.

I usually end up going on week long breaks from gaming and such...

I had about a 6 month break a few years ago! I was sort of slipping away from gaming already, only playing a few select games every now and then. Then my graphics card pretty much died, and I wasn't bothered enough to get a new one, and I didn't own any consoles. So, I just had a big break.

Later in the year I got my computer upgraded, and got right back into gaming again.

Not sure why I started to slip away from it. But right now i'm more of a gamer than I have ever have been.

Yeah I know how you feel, I always feel a bit guilty because I know I could be spending some of the time I'm on games doing revision or coursework.

Have any of you stopped gaming for any reason? Did you miss it much or did it not bother you that much?
Moved to Australia last November from NZ, haven't had a gaming-worthy PC since then, kinda hanging out for it now...

Thing is, I even feel that way after exams, when school has finished!
