Vergil Crawford - Along the Streets/Outside The Green Mountain Tavern - Tinsdal

Vergil watched as the pile of Kiel landed at his feet.

"Sorry about ruining the coat you probably spent some good money on. That will buy an even better one if you want to impress a lesbian that much." The man called Kain remarked with a rather smug look on his face, as he leaned back against the wall. Rather than show hostility to this intruder, he begrudgingly picked up the pouch, and placed it in his pocket. He maintained a rather calm manner.

"No worries, luckily for you, the whisky landed on the outside and not the fur, it can be easily cleaned." Vergil remarked with a little smile, but didn't receive a response from either the Vessel or Kain. For most of the conversation, Vergil remained mostly quiet throughout, listening to every scrap of information that he could gather, hoping there was something he could use against the newcomer. Aside from listening, he used Shade's Vision, to gather tactical data.

"Kain Whitestroke. Born in the Middle Section. Lost both your parents at the age of 13. Recruited into the criminal organization known as Aurora, by its leader, Marco Peloski the same year. Organization is a band of ruthless criminals, caring only for themselves; and will only work for/with others, if it is to their benefit." Vergil then smirked slightly.

"What actual information do you have, that would make you a threat against us? Aside from our location, your argument doesn't hold a lot of weight. If it was something personal, then I might be a little more curious. Your backstory certainly is a tragic one."

Vincent - Hollow's Peak - Upper Level

Vincent pressed himself against the concrete walls pressing tight to keep the lights away from him. Vincent had managed to make his way up through the levels of Hollow's Peak, avoiding thieves and the occasional crime lord spawn that managed to find their way down into the streets. Now Vincent stood outside of the biggest crime lords manor, an exquisite piece of architecture that had to have costed a fortune to build. Around the manor, stood a large stone wall, with towers on all four corners that offered a large view of the surrounding area. At the front of the walls stood a large metal gate, two sentries stood guard on either side of the gate. Both carried halberds and stood at attention, their gazes locked on other guards that were returning from their shifts.

Vincent smiled and continued to watch guards come and go. He had been gone for nearly an hour now, waiting and watching the routines of the different guards, both on the walls and near the gate. It seemed to Vincent, that every hour, the guards on the walls would change position with the guards that seemed to be set in housing quarters within the compound. Vincent was just beginning to formulate a plan when he heard dogs barking within the compound. Letting out a silent hiss of frustration Vincent decided to look for another way inside.

Scarlett Verneer - Outside The Green Mountain Tavern - Tinsdal

Are they going to talk him to death? She folded her arms and felt her patience begin to run out. She had no time for this. There where far better things to be doing than grilling some amateur about what he thought he was doing. Or what he thought he knew. Scarlett pushed Vergil aside and drew a knife to Kain?s throat, pinning him to the wall, even the slightest of movement would result in a messy end for the man.

?Listen. I don?t have the time or the patience to be stood around here chatting to you like those two. As if we are housemaids catching up on the gossip. There are a thousand amateur organisations out there with delusions of grandeur about working for the upper?s and each one is more the fool than the next. You don?t know anything. If you did you sure as hell wouldn?t be the guy lying in the shit down there spying on two drunk women. So, why don?t you run along to Amelia and tell her all you know?

Scarlett removed the knife from Kain?s neck and turned around to Vergil and Vessel.

?Come on. Were just wasting our time and I want another drink.?

She had called his bluff. Now it was time to see how he would react.

Kain Whitestroke-Outside the Green Mountain Tavern-Tinsdal

Kain thoroughly enjoyed Scarlett's threat. I love this girls attitude, now we know that we're not wasting our time with this. "You know what?" Kain whispered, "I think I will." Kain whistled a rhythmical tune. Than followed that one with an dark, ominous one. Kain smiled after the second call. "You can guess what the first call is for, the second call is..."

Light and nimble archers lied perched on the Green Mountain Tavern building. Swordsmen of various type exited the the tavern and formed a group around Kain. Kain paced around and boated, "We're pretty far from little I must say. We even have mages with us. Not all of them are ours but they're powerful.. This is hardly a strong group here; so if any of you die we'll be sure to leave the group alone." As he finished this, about four mages approached from the streets.

Kain juggled a smoke bomb on one hand and took a glance at Vergil, "We'll have something on almost everybody in your group, to tell you would hardly be a good thing to do. We're even close to getting something on you." Kain dropped the smoke bomb down and used the opportunity to escape. The whole street was soon covered in smoke and it was the only the magic the mages cast that let he and his men see at all. He burst open the door to a building across the street and exited the back door and ran; whistling the same ominous tune in order to call more of his men.

Kain Whitestroke-On a building across the Green Mountain Tavern-Tinsdal

Kain sat on a building across the way with more mages to fight. He was disgusted at the way some of his men were acting. "You were all warned of hesitation men. Remember the curse we casted on you? You wouldn't want Marne to activate it would you?" Kain shouted.

One mage stepped forward as if he was leading the mages. He lifted his hands at the soldiers who showed the most cowardice and their organs began burst or bleed from the inside. They screamed and rolled on the ground before limply falling to the ground dead. The more loyal soldiers rallied the rest. This time Marne cast a spell to make sure that wouldn't happen again.

As a parting gift Kain threw a knife and hit Rallion's horse in the side. "Should've stayed out of this." Kain remarked as he jumped to an adjacent building and vanished from sight.

Scarlett Verneer - Outside The Green Mountain Tavern - Tinsdal

Great. He brought friends. How nice.

She closed her eyes and activated her gift. She had no idea that it had returned during the conversation but something inside of her just seemed aware of it sudden re-emergence. Something seemed different too. Scarlett focused her mind and the street became a visual map inside of her head. And not just the street. The streets around the street and the inside of near buildings too. It had seemed that her father had been correct. The mutation had made it stronger. The sound was mapped to vibrating white dots in a 360 degree arc around her and she could hear every single sound with an astonishing clarity. Now this was going to be useful. Opening her eyes she caught sight of the smoke rising from the street and she realised that the group now stood in a shooting gallery. Sprinting towards a near by door she jumped with all her weight behind her shoulder and crashed through the wood, sending splinters in all directions, before rolling on the cold stone floor inside. A surprised man jumped to his feet brandishing a fork and screaming threats at the top of his voice. She drew her knife and jumped to her feet watching the man backdown and hide in another room. Scarlett rushed to the side of the door and pressed herself against the wall peering round at the smoke filled street.

?Vergil. Vessel. In here.?

She closed her eyes and reactivated her gift. She could hear them stood in the street but that was no guarantee that they could hear her. Someone else had arrived on horseback and caught the attention of the attackers. It seemed this new arrival had kept the archers and mages from shredding Vergil and the Vessel alive and she hoped they would use the distraction to find cover and escape this fine mess. Scarlett then caught the sound of whistling. Her mind locked onto the sound with all the remaining noise becoming muted and distant. It sounded like Kain alright and Scarlett turned around to face the direction of the noise. She kicked open a wooden shutter and looked down into the narrow street. It seemed to be refuse point for the surrounding buildings and the smell of the garbage cooking in the mid afternoon sun was ripe and vile.Scarlett brought a hand to her nose and winced. Leaping through the open window she tried to forget the pungent smell and focused her thoughts on finding the rat. Kain. He seemed to be talking on a nearby building. Scarlett began to climb the side of the building but her mind seemed to scream at the incoming noise from all directions. It seemed reinforcements where arriving from all directions and while Scarlett could chase him down she would leave Vergil and the Vessel exposed to the oncoming attackers. Annoyed Scarlett dropped down and climbed back inside the building. She stopped at the door and shouted out.

?You going to stand out there all day??

Vergil Crawford - Outside The Green Mountain Tavern - Tinsdal

Vergil had drawn his swords, and began protecting himself, along with the others, from a small swarm of swordsman. Due to the numbers, the best he could do was a series of defensive strikes and parries, nothing that could cause any real injuries. With each one that he pushed back, another took its comrades place. He could almost see his death approaching fast, but then, Vergil could see a another group of soldiers approaching, but the wore different outfits. They soon engaged Kain's aggressors, giving the group a small opening. It was then that a voice called out to him.

"Master Vergil! We will deal with these people. You go and find the one that started this." The unknown soldier then turned to the rooftops, where where a group of archers rose. "Archers, suppressive fire on those rooftops."

Vergil then turned to the others.

"Come on, lets go after Kain. I think these guys can handle it."

? Dean?s Mansion ? Tinsdal.

They arrived at the mansion, oblivious to the events that were transcending. Learning that no one was around, Velen and Lorel split, and they went their own ways. Lorel walked and saw Malina who was reading a book, he couldn?t see the title of it, and to be honest, Lorel wasn?t the biggest reader. He walked up to her, and she simply flipped to another page, it was only when a shadow was casted over her that she looked up.

She smiled. ?Lorel! Good to see you up! Sorry I wasn?t there when you initially got up.?

?It?s fine, you had been by my side most of the time, so need for an apology.? Lorel said as he sat down next to her, and saw the book?s title as she closed it up. It was actually a famous novel by Richard Quartz, The Final Days of Home, it was about the days leading up to the Dark God Magic being used by Saviors, and then up to the creation of the City. Quite old, but it held up to modern standards, which haven?t moved much in the past three-thousand years. It had been the only book he truly read, even carried it around with him often when he was younger. The story was loosely based on his own life, but kept factual to the events.

?So?? She said as she mashed her hands together, and leaned back. ?What happened to you after Gemsi took over? I noticed you still have his markings.?

Lorel sighed. ?It?s a bit of a tale, but I plan on telling everyone eventually when they arrive.?

She looked disappointed, but was happy none-the-less that she would hear it.

Malina Ana?sha

Female

16

Born ? 3/23/6251

Vampire

Bio: Born to a vampire family of the Ana?sha, Malina lived a strange life between the mixture of the Upper culture and her vampire-culture of her family. While her brother and sister both heavily reviled in their vampire side, Malina like her father was more intone with their human side, which made them at times seem like outcasts, her mother is a full vampire, with no ability to walk into the sun, but if she does she wears heavy garments that cover every inch of her body.

Malina at a young age was deemed that she would marry Lorel Ion as part of a political deal that would give both families stronger ties. Like every person who marries an Ion, they take the Ion last name. Although at this time, it is unknown whether or not Hongi or Kina knew of their status as vampires.

She attended and still attends the Upper Academy, the normal person side of the Mage Academy. Over the years she continually rose to the top of the charts, and was one of the brightest students, and a skilled combatant which with the help of her vampire strength was able to beat most of the battle masters at the academy. Although some were way above her strength.

Scarlett Verneer - Outside The Green Mountain Tavern - Tinsdal

She peered around the door with a slow, but careful, movement holding her shining knife, caught in the late afternoon sunlight, in a defensive posture across her chest. There was some relief in the fact that the group had avoided an all out street battle with the latest clown to challenge them but Scarlett had felt the exciting rush of battle fill her veins and she could feel some disappointment in the lack of action. Although by her own admission neither she nor Vergil and Vessel had been ready for a fight. It would have not ended well for them. A quick glance around revealed the support Kain had brought with him were beginning to retreat back across rooftops and down darkened passages, keeping a close eye on their opposition. Scarlett had that sinking feeling she would see them all again rather soon. Kain might have not seemed the most professional of his class, like a another she mused to herself, but even the most incompetent fool with a blade could kill. Underestimating ones enemy had been the end for a great many of her friends in the Red Stain and she really wanted to avoid a similar messy end. But she supposed that was the price of age and experience. You made mistakes. Confidence was the biggest killer.

Slipping her knife back into its hidden sheath she stepped out into the street and walked with a slow, almost casual, pace to Vessel?s side. The horse seemed to have been injured but what did she care about a horse? It seemed as if they were about to waste bandages on it too and she held back the comment forming in the back of her mind about the worth of the horse. She was in a funny mood. Maybe it had been all that talk about her daughter stirring things up inside. Things that had been better left alone. There had been some talk of a safe but her interest had faded quickly and Scarlett decided to turn around and walk away without a word to the rest. She drank better alone anyway.

"Oh, okay then." Vergil said with a gloomy look on his face, as the **** mentioned that someone else had figured out the code for the chest.

"Not much point in me keeping this then." He remarked, removing the scrap of paper, mentally noting down the numbers written on it, before tossing it into an open fire.

"Better make sure you remember it then. Don't want that chest becoming a paperweight." He later joked, a smile coming back to his face. Vergil then looked around, noticing that Scarlett had left without saying a word. He decided to call out to her.

"Hey, Scarlett. You want to come drinking with us? I'm buying." Vergil asked, hoping that the promise of drinks being bought for her, might have Scarlett come along with the group.

? Dean?s Mansion ? Tinsdal.

He knew who he had to talk to next, Mizuki. His? Sister? Lorel asked around, the guards said they spotted her in the garden ruins. Outside people were working on the gardens, and many of the Ultimate Mages had left, there was debris and still some smears of blood on the ground. Some of the workers looked at him as they walked, they didn?t know what to think, and whether or not the Dark God was gone or not.

Together with Mizuki, she and the Dean were speaking but as he got closer they broke up and the Dean stopped as he got closer to Lorel. ?Lorel, good to see you. Are you alright now? I am not very wise on the nature of gods, especially Dark Gods.?

?I am fine, don?t worry yourself, Gemsi is no more.?

?Good. Good, alright, I should go.? Dean walked passed Lorel.

Lorel went up to Mizuki who appeared to be looking over the water, the snow was starting to come down faster. She noticed him coming up but didn?t turn, Lorel simply laid his arms on the railings and for a moment they were silent. ?Are you still confused about all of this?? She spoke to him.

?It?s been on my mind, you being my sister, a fellow Ion, I believed I was alone. Why didn?t Mom or Dad ever tell me of you??

?No one knew of me, only a very few did, such as your friends Velen and Itsuka, the Dean. Eleven Years it?s been??

Lorel heard that often? Eleven Years ago seemed too significant. ?What happened Eleven Years??

She breathed in heavily and then out. ?Well I must begin first with talking about much before that. Before you were born, I was captured by some members of the Southern Faction Unity, and then when they rescued me, something had changed. I was born with no magic, but when they found me, I had the ability to use it. Because of this, I went into hiding. Eleven years ago, I was being escorted by some members of Nu?ve, specifically, Mar, Gail, Tylia, Irin, and Velen. Although Velen at the time wasn?t part of Nu?ve but was with them. Itsuka joined in much later.

To cut down on time, I will explain why this is significant, they were bringing me to the North, and when we arrived, lots of shit fell down. These mysterious people wearing masks, such as the one I was wearing began to attack us over and over again and kept trying to capture me each time. They weren?t human, barely even had physical forms. Eventually their leader confronted us, in a cavern in the Northern Mountains near the East Coast? This man? Was the Dark God known as Master, he had orchestrated the whole thing, he was the one who had given me the ability to use Magic, but he was like Gemsi, without a true form? He could move from one body to the next, but inside the bodies he was still as powerful as a Dark God.

His plan is still something that is unknown to us even to this day, but we fought against him anyway and managed to defeat him. How we did so? Is also unknown, Velen had reached down to me when I was bleeding heavily and barely conscious, and after that he ran at the Dark God with both of his swords and managed to rip him apart. He defeated a Dark God in combat, and even he doesn?t know. When he tried to attack him before, nothing worked, it simply went through him transparently or he moved to another body. Strange thing was? When I attacked him, it worked, but while he did give me magic, I am not a powerful mage. It was probably because the fact that he gave me some of his magic and so I was able to hurt him.?

No? It was because you have God Blood in you, like me.

?After that we traveled back to Tinsdal, and ever since then I have been with the Dean and his family.?

Lorel was surprised, another Dark God? And Velen had defeated him, he understood how Velen beat him, the blood from her must have fell on his blades and they allowed him to strike him and kill him like any God could. But he knew he couldn?t tell her that, even if she was family. Especially since she is family.

?So Lorel what happened to you? We both had our encounters with Dark Gods it seems.?

?Yeah, like I said before, once everyone arrives, I shall speak.?

Master

Unknown (Appearance Male, but unknown)

Age: N/A

Born: Time of creation of the Universe

Dark God

Bio: Master was always a cynical Dark God even amongst the Dark Gods and Goddess. No one truly understood what faction it was on or what its angle was. One of the few remaining Dark Gods who fought against the Gods and Goddess, many younger Dark Gods revere Master and even joined him when the Dark Gods began to break up into factions, each one having their own agendas of getting out of banishment. So in the Dark God Wars, Master was losing ground quickly, so it began to hatch a plan that would give it an edge.

After such it ventured to Ranajal where he took the young girl Mizuki Ion and gave her magic, but what Masters goal was is still unknown even to those who were part of its faction.

Lucian Grey - Hollow's Peak - Red Stain Den

A deafening silence befell the lavishly adorned chamber as the silver crowned hunter uttered his intentions, the words "Exterminate" and "recover" regimented and recounted with an unnatural sternness, an obvious mockery of the fool that had sent the hunter on his quest into the North.

"A certain someone? Queried the slender man, his frame leaning forward ever so slightly atop that mobile wooden contraption.

?Indeed, the fellow mana-?

?Don't tell me! It's no fun that way!.? Zhang Interrupted before taking flight aloft his chariot of mahogany, the metallic ball barrings at the base of the seat sending it into a twister, the seedy brokers Cheshire smile vanishing and reappearing with each rotation before ultimately coming to a halt, his position precisely as it was before his ride of the mobile throne.

?I want to guess!?

?You could never sit still... Very well, guess away.? Lucian permissioned, a challenging smile framing the corners of his lips.

"Well... You're chasing 'someone' important, you wouldn't have come all the way to the North is they weren't, AND you've been given the permission to kill them. This means that the person in question is either:
A) A deserter who's abandoned the old Flame Crosser's and needs to be brought to 'justice'.
B) Someone who's managed to piss off someone in the Flame Crosser's mighty foul.
or
C) A mage.

Knowing you C is out, because, well, that would be too boring of an answer! Also, I don't see you caring enough about Hunter Oaths to go tracking some idiot who decided 'now was the right time to develop a conscience'. But then again, I can't see you doing the dirty work of some over-zealous commander holding a grudge.

Thus, this is really a personal investment under the guise of one of the three. Am I right?"

A suppressed chuckle and an approving glance was all the answer the Broker needed to continue his deductions.

"Of course I'm right. Now leaves the question of; what did this intrepid enigma do to catch your attention ever so intently? My guess would be a mix of something skilful, rash, and big enough to piss off a bunch of people?"

"You could say that, I'm actually looking for a thief. He managed to kill a few greenhorn hunters and rob us blind for our 'prized' amulets." Lucian added as he pulled the metallic pendent from his tunic, the shard glowing with a bright white glow in response to the coloured mage-lights littering the paper ridden abode.

"The compound in Grim?"

"That's right"

The shadowy informant's smile took a much more sinister visage with this seemingly mundane titbit of information. He reached out with his free hand and drew the metallic cylinder resting on the corner of the desk.

"I think we may just be able to help each other, my old friend." With his right, Zhang slivered beneath the desk, his hand emerging a few seconds later with a small pouch.

"Do tell me, what do you know of this walking mystery?" Zhang questioned, his deft hands untying the slither of string retaining the now revealed black grains within that tiny burlap purse.

"Red eyes, black hair, goes by the name Vergil and speaks far too dramatically, although I guess by the look on your face you might already have something?" Lucian recounted, his golden serpentine eye's taking a sharp note of his young comrades rapid hand-play.

"Since I took over from that bloated excuse for an information broker, Xan, I've noticed a few discrepancies with most of the info I come across regarding the North." The seedy fox-like fellow revealed as he poured the dark grains into the volatile contraption.

"It's very subtle, but I can always tell. The info appears as if it's been glanced over by someone outside of my agents before it reaches me. Or in some more dubious networks, it looks like it's been altered."
"What's this mean?" Lucian proposed, his intrigue shared with his friends words and the tiny lead sphere he was loading into the blasting machine.

"It means, my old friend, Light. That someone, something, is tampering with my operations.

"Sounds unpleasant, but what does this have to do with my Thief?"

"Well, while I don't have much to go on about this little web of betrayers and brokers, I know of someone who might, someone who recently passed into the North and has been making their way even deeper in. A red eyed bastard that I suspect has some connections with an organisation behind my tainted dealings!"

With a flick of the armed man's finger a loud explosion flared from within the barrel, it's forceful boon propelling the painful sphere from the chamber, through the perfumed domain and into a sprawled out sheet nailed into the wall. The silver crowned hunter rose from his seat in silence and moved to the searing puncture burnt into the wall.

"Tinsdal?" Lucian uttered as his coarse, pale hands thumbed over the wound in the sprawling map of the North.

" Bring him to Hollow's, I'm going to get to the bottom of who's fucking with me.

Scarlett Verneer - Outside The Green Mountain Tavern - Tinsdal

Something was still lurking in the back of her mind. The thought was clinging to existence on the edge of her mind and it seemed impossible to shake. It annoyed her more than anything right now. She stopped in her tracks in the street and felt the warmth of the late afternoon sun on her face. The gentle cold north wind running through the hair that had fallen down the sides of her face. Scarlett turned around and looked at Vergil. The offer was too good to refuse.

?Fine. But I?m choosing where we go.?

She was in no mood to argue or sit in some tavern she had no intention of going to. Her mood was growing fast like the first signs of a storm in the otherwise perfect sky. Seemingly conjured from nowhere. There was a comment about the horse but she bit her tongue and held it back.

Telnor- His mind

Telnor pushed his way through the piles of snow, a blizzard building and blinding him. Thin layers of ice covered his eyes and skin. If he didn't find shelter or clothes soon he was going to die. He wiped the ice away and struggled on forward, knowing if he stopped it meant certain doom. But with each step he grew weaker and weaker, the cold sapping his strength. Finally he could take it no longer and collapsed face down in the snow.

Gelm- Tinsdal Prison

Gelm starred at the ceiling of his cell. He may have finally broken out of his mental prison but now he was stuck in this physical cell. But it would be easier to get out of here if he just waited. Despite the anger he pushed on Telnor, amplifying his existing discontentment towards Vessel, he was sure that one of them would come to get him. Either by paying the bail or by breaking him out.

A knock came at the door as a tray was slid underneath the door, containing his meal. Gelm jumped on the food, as if he hadn't eaten in a long time. To Gelm the gruel that they had given him was amazing. He hadn't had real food in a long time, trapped as he was in Telnor's mind.

Telnor- His Mind

Telnor slowly woke up, warmth spreading through his body. Slowly he noticed the cave he was in, a blanket covered him and a fire was crackling spreading throughout the cave. Slowly Telnor sat up noticing that he was clothed in simple, yet warm clothes.

"So your're awake," a woman said entering the cave. "You've been asleep for a long time. No surprise there really. After all you were wandering the Hatred's Realm. Where Hate blankets everything. You are lucky that I was able to retrieve you from that place. Hate may Hate everything but he can't let you die."

"Hate? Hate's Realm? I'm confused. Where am I? What is this place?" Telnor asked sitting up.

"Its your mind and here your emotions are given form as living beings," the woman knelt down in front of Telnor, handing him a bowl of soup and allowing him to get a good look at her. Long black hair feel from her head and eyes could only be described as Motherly. "I'm the embodiment of Kindness. you can call me Name: Racquel or Rac," Racquel helped Telnor to his feet and lead him to the cave entrance, "And this is my realm"

Telnor looked out the cave and starred at the green beautiful plains below. Fields of flowers went as far as he could see, with animals frolicking in the fields. The sight of it moved him to tears and he collapsed to his knees, tears flowing down his face.

Scarlett Verneer - Morning Light Inn - Tinsdal

It was going to be a cold night. The wind rising the through the street was a sign that a cold front was heading straight for the district from the ocean. A long time ago the people of the north would take that sign as a bad omen of things to come. She lead them to the Morning Light Inn a large but rather upmarket tavern a few streets away from their previous location.

The stable outside had one room for a horse and Scarlett assumed the Vessel didn?t need to be told she could use it for the injured horse. Pushing open the large wooden door Scarlett stepped inside and felt the heat blazing from the large open fire in the middle of the stone room. Along the far wall ran a well stocked bar and the square wooden tables surrounding the fire were full of chatting patrons to busy to acknowledge the new arrivals. Had it not been for the board on the wall in dark corner of the room all would have seemed normal.

Scarlett dropped her coat on a free table and headed for the board on the wall. Flicking through the folded pieces of paper pinned to it she seemed satisfied and left the remaining alone moving now to the bar.
