Selfish fucks asking for money. Just another reason I hate extra credits. Also, HAHA I live in Canada so when I needed 2 major surgeries on my leg I didn't have to pay a cent.
How is asking for money selfish? Abusing someone who asks for money seems far more selfish to me.

Asking for money isn't selfish and so isn't asking money for fucking surgery also laughing at peoples pain does not really get you far.

I would have donated if Rocket Fuel would allow Paypal payments, otherwise I don't have a credit card that will do a GBP to USD conversion. Sorry guys, if there's any other method (that involves Paypal) please let me know.

I'd still like to know what will happen to the remainder of the money after surgery and guest artists, I'm all for good causes but we've exceeded the requested amount so surely it's time to discuss the rest.

Allison requires surgery costing over $20K. Only the stupidly rich could afford that without sacrificing the best part of your house or something.

Faith in humanity -10 for this post. Good job it's offset by the amount of people who ++'d it with their donations.

Words cannot express how amazed I am with this community right now. My avatar may be frowning, but rest assured: I've got a huge smile on my face.

Thank you, guys. ALL of you.
I'm really glad that this worked as well as it did. It's your good karma coming to pay you back. :)

I'm confused about something though. Maybe because you're closer to the details you can help clear it up: I thought insurance companies could no longer play the pre-existing crap. Wasn't that one of the first things Obama took care of when he took his seat in office?

They have provided me with weekly free entertainment for over a year, I was very happy to donate $10 or less than Fast-Food meal in UK money towards the good cause as a thank you for all their hard work.

Good point, the amount of money raised shows the true feelings of most of the fans of EC. Whoever donated $5000, if you are reading this now, you are the Hero of the Escapist!

No no no. No. This simply will not do. Your artist will be fixed.

Or, so help us, we will bury you under a pile of money and good wishes.

Best of luck to the pink bean!

Thank you for posting this. I couldn't donate much, but I'm glad I got to help a little.

I'm glad to see the donations soaring in quickly, although it's not surprising considering that you guys make (Alert: incoming opinion!) the best gaming show on the web. You rock, woohoo!

Get well soon, Allison, and you guys keep this show up for years to come!

On the last episode of Extra Credits you may have noticed Allison was wearing a caste, well it's worse than we thought.

Over the last year we've built up a web series talking about game design and the positive impact that games can have on humanity. We've used it to get people looking more deeply at videogames and thinking about what they can take away from their games and add to their lives.

Yesterday Allison, our artist, found out she needed major shoulder surgery if she's going to be able to continue to do art. Each show costs us far more than we make off of it; we've spent most of our reserves building Extra Credits and are now trying to give what we can to help Allison cover the cost of her surgery. We need to raise somewhere between $15,000-$20,000 to help her get surgery and hire guest artists for the next few months, otherwise we can't keep doing the show.

Help us fix the tiny pink bean so she can keep chasing us with a pencil...and please, please help us save Extra Credits.

(If you donate, you will recieve all the rewards up through the level you donated at, so don't worry, if you donate $100 you'll recieve access to the episode, a tee-shirt, a publisher's club membership and other cool stuff.)
So please, if you have the money please donate and help save Extra Credits.

Edit: It's with great pride that I say James has reached his goal of $15,000 and only in a matter of hours. However, Allison's insurance is playing the "pre-existing condition" card so it might cost more than he intended. If you have the money to spare the crew can still put it to good use.

But I would like to say that I'm extremely proud of our community where even though we have our problems we help each other during times of need. Thankyou to all who donated and may still donate.

Edit 2: At time of writing we've raised $28,140 and the money just continues to roll in. I know Allison will appreciate everything we've done but I speak for myself when I say thankyou to everyone who donated money to keep this amazing show on the web. YOU GUYS ROCK!

And of course a big thankyou to the person who donated a full $5000, have fun hanging out with James.
When it says that smeone contributed $5000 is that they promise to or that they actually have?

Hey can you use Paypal to donate? I hate using my credit card for stuff like this.
Yes you can. This comes form the Extra Credits facebook page.

1. If you want to donate via PayPal, and you feel comfortable with it, imperialalien@Hotmail.com is Allison's Paypal. We should be able to get anyone who donates there their rewards.

They actually have. The system is a direct donation, not a pledge.
