So, they not only made it look stupid with its title (F.3.A.R. I mean come on!) But also added a pointless Co-op campaign and make player 2 play Fettel? What the fuck!MiracleOfSound said:I just read a huge preview of F.E.A.R. 3 and it has effectively killed any expectations I had of the game.
It has co-op campaign.
This in itself will mean the scares are even less frequent than in F.E.A.R. 2, but it gets worse...
Player 2 plays as Paxton Fettel. That's right... a ghost. And he can't shoot. Nope. He sees the world in a wierd red haze, can find hidden stuff and possess bodies for a few seconds.
Honestly, the game is off my 'might buy' list now.
Did people enjoy F.E.A.R. 2? Can you imagine the game with co-op, and do you think it's a good or bad thing?
And for discussion's sake... what games had really good co-op campaigns?
but in both of those player two had a direct impact...they could shoot, run, dofge, duck, dip, dive and dodge along with player one...the reason Fear 3's CO'OP sounds iffy is because it seems like player two can do jack shitGxas said:I thought that Gears of War had an excellent co-op campaign. I had so much fun with that game with my friends.
Timesplitters was another great co-op game. Still one of my favorites to this day.
It is indeed--the original game and the two expansion packs, Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate, were, tense, terrifying, and genuinely fun to play as horror-themed FPSs. Monolith took their fear-inducing methods and completely threw them out in favor of generalizing their games, making them (at rare intervals) tense but not really scary any more.Aylaine said:So that's what happened. Now everything makes much more sense. :/dbrose said:The whole series when to hell when Vivendi lost the rights to it, so I can't say I'm surprised. Disappointed, yes, but not surprised.
Thank god, for a second there, I thought I was the only one who noticed. I just honestly think the fighting in the original FEAR was so satisfying. I really think the game would have been good if they kept the same effects.ffs-dontcare said:Ah, thanks for reminding me of yet another reason I hate Project Origin:Tdc2182 said:WHAAAA? Gosh darnit.
If you remember the first demo of fear 2 being played at E3 or something, that was amazing. it used the same gun and blood effects along with pretty much the same engine. It would have been good if they didnt muff up the effects engine. they took the nice feel of kinetic impact out.
But jeez, I am kinda bummed now. I was hoping they would rock out with their weiners out for this game.
BTW: This is what I am talking about. Note the differences in the gun fights. Dont fix what aint broken

The glowy effect that surrounds your enemies when you engage SlowMo. Bloody hell, that was just not aesthetically befitting for visceral combat.
Also, at least the original FEAR's gore was awesome because it didn't happen all the bloody time. Too much of a good thing can turn it into a bad thing.
I really hope they scale the gore back to its original levels and kill the glowy effect. If they do, it'll go a long way towards making the combat far more visceral again.
